This study explored the experience of illness in relation to self-image,biographical disruption,and the process of coping through semi-structured interviews with students of a university in *** students were recruited under three categories,having a physical chronic illness,mental health illness,and chronic multiple ***-depth interviews were conducted and content analyses were applied to their recordings to identify major themes and subordinate themes in the illness *** showed a distorted sense of self and biographical disruptions in young adulthood were common,as reported by the *** tried to cope with these disruptions with both individual strengths and social support,but not always with positive *** of self,in the analysis of illness experiences,was found a crucial strategy in overcoming *** support of evaluative nature facilitated the adoption of the reconstruction strategy.A network-building approach is recommended for student servi es in higher education whereas further research is necessary to understand the processes of self-reconstruction.

The substitution behavior of some alloying elements in CoZr is investigated using the discrete variational X alpha cluster method. The method proposed by the author to predict the substitution behavior is amended to consider the local lattice relaxation. A diagram is drawn based on the binding energies of clusters with alloying elements taking either Co or Zr site. Two straight lines on the diagram separate the alloying elements into three groups with different substitution behavior. The elements above the upper line will take Zr sites and those below the lower line will take Co sites regardless of the composition. The substitution behavior of elements in between the two lines will be affected by the alloy composition. The concept of site competition and step ordering is proposed.

The morphology of the melt-equenched Ti-5Al-4Sn-2Zr-1Mo-9.25Si-1Nd alloy is uniformly distributed Nd-rich phase particles in matrix. The particles within grains are spherical, and the particles at grain boundaries are elliptical. The Nd-rich phase particle calculated is 6.6 nm in diameter, which is within the 6-15 nm range of average particle diameter experimentally observed in the alloy. The practical interface velocity (0.5 m/s) is much greater than the critical velocity (0.15 m/s), hence the Nd-rich phase particles are trapped by the liquid-solid interface.

Annealing at T-a=200 degrees C or so, the enhancement in the average tensile fracture strength of as-quenched (Fe0.99Mo0.01)(78)Si9B13 metallic glass increases about 7 similar to 8%. The origin of the annealing embrittlement at 244 degrees C in the metallic glass (Fe0.99Mo0.01)(78)Si9B13 was revealed that due to the formation of nanoscale granular with bcc structure resulting in the stress localization. The temperature of annealing embrittlement was in agreement with the calculated value from T-bcc=0.637 T-c (T-c is the crystallized temperature), based on micromechanism of crystallization of metallic glass.

PREVIOUS studies have shown that 50%—80% of the pollutant load in the snowpacks can be released with the first 30% of the meltwater. So the ion elution can alter the seasonal-layer distribution of chemical contents deposited in the snowpacks and form a new chemical distribution, which is preserved perpetually as the ice core record. In order to reconstruct the paleoclimate and paleo-environment from the ice core with high accuracy, it is necessary to determine the correlation of the chemical distribution between pre- and post-ion elution processes.

The microstructure of the Ti-5Al-4Sn-2Zr-1Mo-0.25Si-1Nd (Ti-55) alloy containing second phase particles was studied. The second phase particles are 1 similar to 15 mu m in size and most of them are distributed at the grain boundaries in the form of ellipsoid with a few short needle-like and blocky phases. It consists of either dark or bright amorphous 'matrix', and some small spots dispersed within the 'matrix', which match SnO (orthorhombic, a=0.500 nm, b=0.572 nm, c=1.12 nm).
