Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy(LIBS) is a useful technique for accurate sorting of metal scrap by chemical composition *** this work,a method for intensity-ratiobased LIBS classification of stainless steel applicable to highly fluctuating LIBS signal conditions is *** spectral line pairs for intensity ratio calculation are selected according to elemental concentration and upper levels of emission *** is demonstrated that the classification accuracy can be significantly improved from that of full-spectra principal component analysis or intensity-based *** proposed method is considered to be suited to an industrial scrap sorting system that requires minimal maintenance and low system price.

Undifferentiated carcinoma of the pancreas with osteoclast-like giant cells(OGCs)is very rare,less than1%of all pancreatic malignancies,and shows worse prognosis than that of invasive ductal adenocarcinoma of the *** present a case of en bloc resection for a huge undifferentiated carcinoma with OGCs that invaded the stomach and transverse mesocolon.A 67-year female was admitted for left upper quadrant pain and computed tomography demonstrated a mass occupying the lesser sac and abutting the stomach and *** were no distant metastases and the patient underwent subtotal pancreatectomy with splenectomy,total gastrectomy,and segmental resection of the transverse *** examination confirmed an 11 cm-sized undifferentiated carcinoma of the pancreas with *** staining revealed reactivity with pan-cytokeratin in adenocarcinoma component,with vimentin in neoplastic multinucleated cells,with CD45/CD68 in OGCs,and with p53 in tumor cells,*** patient had suffered from multiple bone metastases and survived9 mo after *** case supports the ductal epithelial origin of undifferentiated carcinoma with OGCs and early diagnosis could result in favorable surgical *** on the surgical role and prog-nostic factors need to be warranted in this tumor.

In this study,efficient spectral line selection and wcightcd-avcraging-bascd processing schemes are proposed for the classification of laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy(UBS)*** fast on-line classification,a set of representative spectral lines arc selected ami processed relying on the information metric,instead of the time consuming full spectrum based analysis.I he most informative spectral line sets arc investigated by the joint mutual information estimation(MIR)evaluated with the Gaussian kernel density,where dominant intensity peaks associated with the concentrated components arc not necessarily most valuable for *** order to further distinguish the characteristic patterns of die LIBS measured spectrum,two-dimensional spectral images are synthesized through column-wise concatenation of the peaks along with their *** fast classification while preserv ing die effect of distinctive peak patterns,column-wise Gaussian weighted averaging is applied to die synthesized images,yielding a favorable trade off between classification performance and computational *** explore the applicability of the proposed schemes,two applications of alloy classification and skin cancer detection arc investigated with the multi-class and binary support vector machines classifiers,*** MIE measures associated with selected spectral lines in bodi applications show a strong correlation to the actual classification or detection accuracy,which enables to find out meaningful combinations of spectral *** addition,the peak patterns of the selected lines and their Gaussian weighted averaging with nciehbors of the selected peaks efficiently distineuish different classes of LIBS measured spectrum.

Poly(3-hydroxyalkanoates) (PHAs) are a promising class of biodegradable polymers,exhibiting properties comparable to traditional petroleum-based ***,the widespread commercialization of PHAs is hindered by the absence of an efficient and economically viable catalytic system,impeding their competitiveness against non-biodegradable *** an effort to address this challenge,we present a study on a newly developed chloro-bridged dimeric salphen zirconium cobaltate complex for the direct synthesis of PHAs via carbonylative polymerization of *** catalytic system demonstrates favorable activity under mild reaction conditions,enabling complete monomer conversion and an impressive 92% selectivity towards PHA *** meticulous control experiments and mechanistic studies,we have gained crucial insights into the polymerization ***,our findings challenge the prevailing notion of sequential ring-opening polymerization of in-situ generated β-lactones as the primary ***,we demonstrate that the polymerization predominantly proceeds through direct co-polymerization of epoxide and carbon monoxide,unveiling a unique and efficient mechanism for PHA synthesis.

This paper addresses mechanisms for active flapping and twisting of robotic wings and assesses flying effectiveness as a function of twist angle. Unlike the flapping motion of bird wings, insects generally make a twisting motion at the root of their wings while flapping, which makes it possible for them to hover in midair. This work includes the development of a Voice Coil Motor （VCM） because a flapping-wing air vehicle should be assembled with a compact actuator to decrease size and weight. A linkage mechanism is proposed to transform the linear motion of the VCM into the flapping and twisting motions of wings. The assembled flapping-wing air vehicle, whose weight is 2.86 g, produces an average positive vertical force proportional to the twist angle. The force saturates because the twist angle is mechanically limited. This work demonstrates the possibility of developing a flapping-wing air vehicle that can hover in midair using a mechanism that actively twists the roots of wings during flapping.

BACKGROUND IgG4-related sclerosing cholangitis(IgG4-RSC)is an uncommon benign disease,and its rarer,isolated and mass-forming subtype poses a significant challenge to differential diagnosis from cholangiocarcinoma of the extrahepatic bile *** herein report a case of isolated IgG4-RSC with an obstructing bile duct mass,for which extrahepatic bile duct resection was performed under the impression of proximal common bile duct(CBD)*** SUMMARY A 79-year-old male was admitted for jaundice that had developed 1 mo *** was no family history for autoimmune diseases or biliary *** tomography(CT)and magnetic resonance cholangiopancreaticography revealed a short segmental concentric wall thickening of the proximal CBD with diffuse dilatation of the bile duct to the *** endoscopic biopsy specimen showed no malignant *** emission tomography-CT showed a focal hypermetabolic lesion(SUVmax 4.2)in and around the proximal CBD *** the impression of proximal CBD cancer,we performed segmental resection of the extrahepatic bile *** demonstrated marked sclerosis with diffuse lymphoplasmacytic infiltration and some *** staining for IgG4 showed increased positivity in some areas(up to 30/high-power field)and IgG4+/IgG+cell ratio as 30%-50%.Pathologists’impression was IgG4-related sclerosing ***-up serum IgG4 levels were continuously elevated;however,no evidence of relapse or other organ involvement related to IgG4-RSC *** Isolated and mass-forming IgG4-RSC displays striking similarity with *** avoid unnecessary major surgery,high index of suspicion is needed.

BACKGROUND Panniculitis, polyarthritis, and pancreatitis (PPP) syndrome is a triad comprising an extremely rare extra-pancreatic complication of pancreatic disease. Herein, we describe a patient with PPP syndrome caused by fistula formation between the inferior vena cava (IVC) and pancreatic pseudocyst. CASE SUMMARY A 64-year-old man visited the hospital with bilateral leg pain that began one week prior. He had no specific diseases, except hypertension. His vital signs were normal. Blood test revealed the following findings: White blood cell count, 28690/μL;amylase level, 9055 U/L;lipase level, 2089 U/L;and C-reactive protein level, 12.94 mg/dL. Computed tomography of the pancreas revealed recent acute pancreatitis. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs were administered with no improvement. After steroid administration, pain slightly improved. Skin lesions were diagnosed as panniculitis. Bone scan and knee magnetic resonance imaging revealed osteoarthritis and bone marrow infarctions. Surgical treatment was considered;total pancreatectomy with splenectomy was performed. A pseudocyst was present posterior to the head of the pancreas, forming a fistula with the suprarenal IVC. After surgery, amylase and lipase levels decreased. However, the patient died of an uncontrolled infection on the 13th postoperative day. CONCLUSION PPP syndrome should be suspected when accompanied by skin and joint lesions. Delays in diagnosis could have catastrophic consequences.

Currently, there is no known optimal therapy for carbon monoxide （CO） poisoning and CO-associated delayed neu- rological sequelae. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy （HBOT） is a well-known treatment method, but its use for CO poison- ing patients is controversial to use due to lack of evidences regarding its efficacy. Thus, it is unlikely that HBOT alone will be accepted as the standard treatment method. In this article, current and potential treatment methods of CO poi- soning are presented as well as the tentative multi-factorial pathophysiology. A series of treatments are suggested for use as a bundle therapy, with targeted temperature management as the base treatment method. Such a therapy holds a great potential, especially for the cases where HBOT is not readily available. We suggest further investigations for elucidating the effects of these suggested treatments and their roles in terms of the complex pathophysiology of CO poisoning. Future ac- ceptance of this therapy based on the improved scientific and clinical knowledge may result in injury prevention and mini- mization of the signs and the symptoms in CO poisoning.
