Fall velocity–diameter relationships for four different snowflake types（dendrite,plate,needle,and graupel） were investigated in northeastern South Korea,and a new algorithm for classifying hydrometeors is proposed for distrometric measurements based on the new *** ice crystals（approximately 40 000 particles） were measured with a two-dimensional video disdrometer（2DVD） during a winter experiment from 15 January to 9 April *** fall velocity–diameter relationships were derived for the four types of snowflakes based on manual classification by experts using snow photos and 2DVD measurements：the coefficients（exponents） for different snowflake types were 0.82（0.24） for dendrite,0.74（0.35） for plate,1.03（0.71） for needle,and 1.30（0.94） for graupel,*** new relationships established in the present study（PS） were compared with those from two previous *** types were classified with the derived fall velocity–diameter relationships,and the classification algorithm was evaluated using 3 × 3 contingency tables for one rain–snow transition event and three snowfall *** algorithm showed good performance for the transition event：the critical success indices（CSIs） were 0.89,0.61 and 0.71 for snow,wet-snow and rain,*** snow events,the algorithm performance for dendrite and plate（CSIs = 1.0 and 1.0,respectively） was better than for needle and graupel（CSIs = 0.67 and 0.50,respectively）.

Risk factors for tuberculosis after gastrectomy in gastric cancer

AIM: To examine incidence of tuberculosis(TB) in gastrectomy patients and investigate the risk factors for developing TB after gastrectomy in patients with gastric ***: A retrospective cohort study of gastrectomy patients with gastric cancer was performed at a university-affiliated hospital in Seoul, South Korea between January 2007 and December 2009. We reviewed patient medical records and collected data associated with the risk of TB, surgery, and gastric cancer. Standardized incidence ratios(SIRs) of TB were calculated to compare the incidence of TB in gastrectomy patients with that in the general Korean population, and risk factors for TB after gastrectomies were ***: Among the 1776 gastrectomy patients, 0.9%(16/1776) developed post-gastrectomy TB, with an incidence of 223.7 cases per 100000 patients per year. The overall incidence of TB in gastrectomy patients, adjusted by sex and age, was significantly higher thanthat in the general population(SIR = 2.22, 95%CI: 1.27-3.60). Previous TB infection [odds ratio(OR) = 7.1, P < 0.001], lower body mass index(BMI)(kg/m2; OR = 1.21, P = 0.043) and gastrectomy extent(total gastrectomy vs subtotal gastrectomy)(OR = 3.48, P = 0.017) were significant risk factors for TB after gastrectomy in a multivariate ***: TB incidence after gastrectomy is higher than that in the general population. Previous TB infection, lower BMI, and total gastrectomy are risk factors for TB after gastrectomy in patients with gastric cancer.

Background： The reported mortality rate of mushroom-induced acute liver failure with conventionaltreatment is 1.4%–16.9%. Emergency liver transplantation may be indicated and can be the only curativetreatment option. This study aimed to assess the prognostic value of criteria for emergency livertransplantation in predicting 28-day mortality in patients with mushroom-induced acute liver ***： A retrospective cohort study was performed between January 2005 and December 2015. Alladult patients aged≥18 years admitted with mushroom intoxication at our emergency department wereevaluated. All patients with acute liver injury, defined as elevation of serum liver enzymes （〉5 timesthe upper limit of normal, ULN） or moderate coagulopathy （INR 〉 2.0） were included. The ability of the King’s College, Ganzert’s, and Escudié’s criteria to predict 28-day mortality was evaluated.

To report an extragastrointestinal stromal tumor （EGIST） that occurs outside the gastrointestinal tract and shows unique clinicopathologic and immunohistochemical features. In our case, we experienced multiple soft tissue tumors that originate primarily in the greater omentum, and in immunohistochemical analysis, the tumors showed features that correspond to malignant EGIST. Two large omental masses measured 15 cm×10 cm and 5 cm×4 cm sized and several small ovoid fragments were attached to small intestine, mesentery and peritoneum. On histologic findings, the masses were separated from small bowel serosa and had high mitotic count （115/50 HPFs）. In the results of immunohistochemical stains, the tumor showed CDl17 （c-kit） positive reactivity and high Ki-67 labeling index. On mutation analysis, the c-kit gene mutation was found in the juxtamembrane domain （exon 11）and it was heterozygote. Platelet-derived growth factor receptor （PDGFR） gene mutation was also found in the juxtamemembrane （exon 12） and it was polymorphism. From above findings, we proposed that there may be several mutational pathways to malignant EGIST, so further investigations could be needed to approach this unfavorable disease entity.

Expression of protein S100A4 is a predictor of recurrence in colorectal cancer

AIM: To investigate the prognostic significance of S100A4 expression in colorectal cancer and its correlation with expression of E-cadherin and p53. METHODS: A cohort of archival formalin-fixed paraff inembedded specimens was selected from 127 patients with colorectal cancer who underwent surgical resection between April 2000 and March 2004 at the Department of Surgery, Korea University Guro Hospital. The expression of protein S100A4 was evaluated according to the proportion of positively stained cancer cells. In each case, three core biopsies with a diameter of 2 mm were punched out and positioned in a recipient paraff in array block. Four-μm sections of these tissue array blocks were used for immunohistochemical analysis of protein S100A4, E-cadherin, and p53. Clinicopathological data were based on the original histopathologic reports and clinical records of patients. RESULTS: In normal colorectal mucosa, protein S100A4 immunoreactivity was clearly absent in both cytoplasm and nucleus. However, positive immunoreactivity of protein S100A4 was detected in 45 (35.4%) of the tumor cases. There was no significant association between positive immunoreactivity of protein S100A4 and clinicopathological parameters such as tumor differentiation or TNM stage, and also no correlation between the reactivity and E-cadherin or p53 expression. However, positive immunoreactivity of protein S100A4 was found to be associated with tumor recurrence (P = 0.004), and was also associated with significantly worse overall survival in the Kaplan-Meyer survival analysis (P = 0.044). After adjustment for tumor differentiation, tumor depth and nodal status, however, it failed to achieve statistical significance (P = 0.067). CONCLUSION: The expression of protein S100A4 is associated with tumor recurrence and poor overall survival in patients with colorectal cancer.

The prevalence of exercise-induced asthma（EIA）increases markedly in elite *** has been extensively studied in Caucasian athletes,but little report has been published in Asian *** purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence of EIA symptoms,asthma diagnosis,and asthma medication in Korean national team athletes.A validated questionnaire was used to determine the prevalence of EIA symptoms,asthma diagnosis,and asthma *** study population was composed of the year 2008 Korean national team athletes who were training in the Taeneung national training *** participants were athletes（n=285）from 16 different summer *** range of each EIA symptom positive responders was 30%to 66%.Cough and excess mucus were most often experienced while wheezing and difficulty of breathing were relatively not quite often *** of EIA symptom was self-reported by about 18%of all the subjects,and all5 EIA symptoms were reported by 9.5%.Asthma diagnosis by a physician was reported 10.9%of all the subjects and use of asthma medication was only6.7%of all the *** rhinitis diagnosis by a physician was 22.5%of all the subjects and use of allergy medication was 11.6%of the *** symptoms were analyzed by specific characteristics of sports such as environment of sports participated（*** *** sports）,team *** *** of these sport characteristics seems to be affecting EIA symptoms in Korean national *** prevalence of asthma diagnosis was similar to other ***,the prevalence of EIA symptoms was relatively high,which might involve undiagnosed *** investigations are needed to EIA diagnosis in Korean athletes.

研究了聚丙烯酸盐 (PAA)及其改性聚合物 (马来酸酐 -丙烯酸甲酯 -丙烯酸的三元共聚物 )的组成、结构及相对分子质量对钙束缚力、分散力、絮凝性的影响。以两种商品PAA为参照 ,通过正交实验筛选出了无磷洗衣粉的最佳配方。实验结果表明 ,Ca2 + 束缚值随着聚合物相对分子质量的增加而增大 ,共聚物中单体组成对Ca2 + 束缚值影响不大。以聚合物与CaCl2 的螯合物的沉淀量表征其絮凝性 ,发现聚合物加入量和Ca2 + 总量相同时 ,沉淀量随着聚合物相对分子质量的增大而增大。饱和沉淀量只与CaV有关而与聚合物类型无关 ,达到饱和沉淀量时所对应的聚合物加入量也近似正比与相应聚合物的CaV。实验条件下PAA对碳黑的分散力均优于STPP ,均聚PAA对碳黑的分散力随相对分子质量增大而下降 ,改性PAA且随相对分子质量的增大其分散力仅略有下降。
