Effect of parallel resonance on the electron energy distribution function in a 60 MHz capacitively coupled plasma

In general,as the radio frequency(RF)power increases in a capacitively coupled plasma(CCP),the power transfer efficiency decreases because the resistance of the CCP *** this work,a parallel resonance circuit is applied to improve the power transfer efficiency at high RF power,and the effect of the parallel resonance on the electron energy distribution function(EEDF)is investigated in a 60 MHz *** CCP consists of a power feed line,the electrodes,and *** reactance of the CCP is positive at 60 MHz and acts like an inductive load.A vacuum variable capacitor(VVC)is connected in parallel with the inductive load,and then the parallel resonance between the VVC and the inductive load can be *** the capacitance of the VVC approaches the parallel resonance condition,the equivalent resistance of the parallel circuit is considerably larger than that without the VVC,and the current flowing through the matching network is greatly ***,the power transfer efficiency of the discharge is improved from 76%,70%,and 68%to 81%,77%,and 76%at RF powers of 100 W,150 W,and 200 W,*** parallel resonance conditions,the electron heating in bulk plasma is enhanced,which cannot be achieved without the VVC even at the higher RF *** enhancement of electron heating results in the evolution of the shape of the EEDF from a biMaxwellian distribution to a distribution with the smaller temperature difference between high-energy electrons and low-energy *** to the parallel resonance effect,the electron density increases by approximately 4%,18%,and 21%at RF powers of 100 W,150 W,and 200 W,respectively.

Dioscorea batatas Decne(DBD)has been used to heal various illnesses of the kidney and intestine as an herbal medicine in *** a source of therapeutic agents,many glycoproteins have been isolated from mushrooms and plants,but the functional role of glycoprotein in intestinal epithelial wound healing has not been understood *** the present study,we investigated the wound healing potentials of the 30 kDa glycoprotein(DBD glycoprotein)isolated from DBD in human intestinal epithelial(INT-407)*** found that DBD glycoprotein(100μg·mL^-1)significantly increased the motility of INT-407 cells for 24 h by activating protein kinase C(PKC).DBD glycoprotein stimulated the activation of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK),which is responsible for the phosphorylation of NF-κB inhibitorα(IκBα).DBD glycoprotein increased the level of profilin-1(PFN1),α-actinin and F-actin expression via activation of transcription factor,nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB)during its promotion of cell *** mouse colitis was induced by adding dextran sulfate sodium(DSS)to the drinking water at a concentration of 4%(W/V)for 7 *** figured out that administration of DBD glycoprotein(10 and 20 mg·kg-1)lowers the levels of disease activity index and histological inflammation in DSS-treated ICR *** this regard,we suggest that DBD glycoprotein has ability to promote the F-actin-related migration signaling events via activation of PKC and NF-κB in intestinal epithelial cells and prevent inflammatory bowel disease.

Development of practical lithium(Li)metal batteries(LMBs)remains challenging despite promises of Li metal anodes(LMAs),owing to Li dendrite formation and highly reactive surface *** separators used in LMBs may undergo severe mechanical and chemical deterioration when contacting with *** identify the best polyolefin separator for LMBs,this study investigated the separator-deterministic cycling stability of LMBs under practical conditions,and redefined the key influencing factors,including pore structure,mechanical stability,and chemical affinity,using 12 different commercial separators,including polyethylene(PE),polypropylene(PP),and coated *** extreme compression triggered by LMA swelling,isotropic stress release by balancing the machine direction and transverse direction tensile strengths was found to be crucial for mitigating cell *** of PP separators,a PE separator that possesses a high elastic modulus and a highly connected pore structure can uniformly regulate LMA *** ceramic coating reinforced short-circuiting resistance,while the cycling efficiency degraded rapidly owing to the detrimental interactions between ceramics and *** study identified the design principle of separators for practical LMBs with respect to mechanical stability and chemical affinity toward LMAs by elucidating the impacts of separator modification on the cycling performance.

Mast Cell-Derived Exosomes at the Stimulated Acupoints Activating the Neuro-immune Regulation

Exosomes are cell-derived vesicles that take part in intercellular signaling. Research has shown that acupuncture is closely related to affecting the functions of the mast cells in the local region of the acupoint, and stimulating the afferent nerve. Mast cells have a connection with the conduction within the meridians, and play an important role in immuno-regulation. The ＇synapse-like＇ connection between the mast cells and nerve endings is the basis for the exchange of information between these two tissues. Exosome mediates mast exchange of information between mast cells and the nerves, starting the process of neuro-immuno regulation. Therefore, we propose that mast cell-derived exosomes mediate the neuro-immuno regulation at the local site of acupuncture, and this is one of the key factors resulting in the effectiveness of acupuncture.

Role of computed tomographic colonoscopy of postoperative surveillance in patient with gastric cancer

AIM： TO examine the diagnostic yield of colorectal neoplasia at computed tomographic colonoscopy （CTC） as well as the feasibility of contrast enhanced CTC in patients with gastric cancer. METHODS： To examine the incidence of colon polyp we selected postoperative 188 gastric cancer patients, which we refer to as the ‘colon polyp survey group’. To examine the feasibility of CTC for early detection of colon cancer or advanced colon adenoma, we selected 47 gastric cancer patients （M：F 29：18, mean age 53.8 years）, which we call the ‘CT colonoscopy group’. All the 47 patients underwent successive CTC and colonoscopy on the same day. RESULTS： Totally 109 colon polyps were observed from 59 out of 188 gastric cancer patients, the inddence rate of colon polyps in gastric cancer patients being 31.4%. The sensitivity of CTC in detecting individuals with at least 1 lesion of any size was 57.1%, the specificity was 72.7%, the positive predictive value was 47.1%, and the negative predictive value was 71.9%. When the cutoff size was decreased to 6 mm, the sensitivity and specificity were 80.0% and 92.9%, respectively, with positive and negative predictive values of 57.1% and 97.5%, respectively. Only one patient was classified as false negative by virtual colonoscopy. CONCLUSION： The diagnostic yield of colorectal polyp was 31.4% in patients with gastric cancer, and contrast enhanced CTC is an acceptable tool for the detection of synchronous colorectal advanced adenoma and postoperative surveillance of gastric cancer patients.

We investigated the effects of ethanol extracted Scutellaria baicalensis（EESB） on spatial memory function and neurogenesis in the hippocampal dentate *** Sprague-Dawley rats were orally administered 50,100,or 200 mg/kg of EESB for 6 successive *** radial-arm maze test showed that 200 mg/kg of EESB improved the spatial memory of adult *** microscopy results showed that 100 mg/kg of EESB increased the number of bromodeoxyuridine（BrdU）-and neuron-specific nuclear protein-positive cells in the granular cell layer,and that 100 and 200 mg/kg of EESB increased the number of BrdU-/neuron-specific nuclear protein-positive cells in the sub-granular zone.200 mg/kg of EESB increased the number of BrdU-/glial fibrillary acid protein-positive cells in the subgranular *** findings indicate that EESB can effectively promote neurogenesis in the hippocampal dentate gyrus and improve spatial memory function.

AIM: Expression of heat shock proteins (HSPs) is frequently up-regulated in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), which evolves from dysplastic nodule (DN) and early HCC to advanced HCC. However, little is known about the differential expression of HSPs in multistep hepatocarcinogenesis. It was the purpose of this study to monitor the expression of HSPs in multistep hepatocarcinogenesis and to evaluate their prognostic significance in hepatitis B virus (HBV)related ***: Thirty-eight HCC and 19 DN samples were obtained from 52 hepatitis B surface antigen-positive Korean patients. Immunohistochemical and dot immunoblot analyses of HSP27, HSP60, HSP70, HSP90, glucoseregulated protein (GRP)78, and GRP94 were performed and their expression at different stages of HCC development was statistically ***: Expression of HSP27, HSP70, HSP90, GRP78, and GRP94 increased along with the stepwise progression of hepatocarcinogenesis. Strong correlation was found only in GRP78 (Spearman's r= 0.802). There was a positive correlation between the expressions of GRP78, GRP94, HSP90, or HSP70 and prognostic factors of HCC. Specifically, the expression of GRP78, GRP94, or HSP90 was associated significantly with vascular invasion and intrahepatic ***: The expressions of HSPs are commonly up-regulated in HBV-related HCCs and GRP78 might play an important role in the stepwise progression of HBVrelated hepatocarcinogenesis. GRP78, GRP94, and HSP90 may be important prognostic markers of HBV-related HCC, strongly suggesting vascular invasion and intrahepatic metastasis.

Treatment for gastric ‘indefinite for neoplasm/dysplasia' lesions based on predictive factors

BACKGROUND Gastric ‘indefinite for neoplasm/dysplasia'(IFND) is a borderline lesion that is difficult to diagnose as either regenerative or neoplastic. There is a need for guidance in the identification of a subset of patients, who have an IFND lesion with a higher risk of malignant potential, to enable risk stratification and optimal *** To determine the clinical and pathologic factors for the accurate diagnosis of gastric IFND *** In total, 461 gastric lesions diagnosed via biopsy as IFND lesions were retrospectively evaluated. Endoscopic resection(n = 134), surgery(n = 22), and follow-up endoscopic biopsy(n = 305) were performed to confirm the *** time interval from initial biopsy to cancer diagnosis was measured, and diagnostic delays were categorized as > 2 wk, > 2 mo, > 6 mo, and > 1 year. The IFND lesions presenting as regenerating atypia(60%) or atypical epithelia(40%)at initial biopsy were adenocarcinomas in 22.6%, adenomas in 8.9%, and gastritis in 68.5% of the *** Four clinical factors [age ≥ 60 years(2.445, 95%CI: 1.305-4.580, P = 0.005),endoscopic size ≥ 10 mm(3.519, 95%CI: 1.891-6.548, P < 0.001), single lesion(5.702, 95%CI: 2.212-14.696, P < 0.001), and spontaneous bleeding(4.056, 95%CI:1.792-9.180, P = 0.001)], and two pathologic factors [atypical epithelium(25.575,95%CI: 11.537-56.695, P < 0.001], and repeated IFND diagnosis [6.022, 95%CI:1.822-19.909, P = 0.003)] were independent risk factors for gastric cancer. With two or more clinical factors, the sensitivity and specificity for carcinoma were91.3% and 54.9%, respectively. Ten undifferentiated carcinomas were initially diagnosed as IFND. In the subgroup analysis, fold change(5.594, 95%CI: 1.458-21.462, P = 0.012) predicted undifferentiated or invasive carcinoma in the submucosal layers or deeper.
