With the rapid increase in the demand for lithium as an energy-critical element,the recovery of Li+ions from seawater is a worldwide challenging ***,we propose a new facile and fast selective recovery approach of Li+using an Al^(3+)-crosslinked poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)(PNIPAAm)/alginate(Alg)(PNP/Alg(Al)) *** in situ TEM images indicate that Alg-Al^(3+)coordination is reorganized via the rearrangement of PNIPAAm and Alg networks,as the temperature *** reorganization eventually leads to the formation of polycrystalline *** in situ FTIR results exhibit that PNP/Alg(Al) composite has peculiar phase transitions,which includes a retrogressive phase change from hydrophobic to *** synergetic effect of the strong repulsion force of Al^(3+) ions and the attractive force of negatively charged polymeric chains enables the efficient adsorption of Li+ions with a low affinity from Li-spiked seawater.7.3% of Li+ions are recovered from Li-spiked seawater although the concentration of Li-spiked seawater is very *** addition,Li+ions can be extracted from PNP/Alg(Al) composite with the use of a small thermal *** proposed thermoresponsive IPN gel provides a strong potential in practical applications for Li+recovery as an innovative energy-material strategy.

Mg alloys possess an inherent plastic anisotropy owing to the selective activation of deformation mechanisms depending on the loading *** characteristic results in a diverse range of flow curves that vary with a deformation *** study proposes a novel approach for accurately predicting an anisotropic deformation behavior of wrought Mg alloys using machine learning(ML)with data *** developed model combines four key strategies from data science:learning the entire flow curves,generative adversarial networks(GAN),algorithm-driven hyperparameter tuning,and gated recurrent unit(GRU)*** proposed model,namely GAN-aided GRU,was extensively evaluated for various predictive scenarios,such as interpolation,extrapolation,and a limited dataset *** model exhibited significant predictability and improved generalizability for estimating the anisotropic compressive behavior of ZK60 Mg alloys under 11 annealing conditions and for three loading *** GAN-aided GRU results were superior to those of previous ML models and constitutive *** superior performance was attributed to hyperparameter optimization,GAN-based data augmentation,and the inherent predictivity of the GRU for *** a first attempt to employ ML techniques other than artificial neural networks,this study proposes a novel perspective on predicting the anisotropic deformation behaviors of wrought Mg alloys.

Monocyte/macrophage lineage cells are highly plastic and can differentiate into various cells under different environmental stimuli. Bone-resorbing osteoclasts are derived from the monocyte/macrophage lineage in response to receptor activator of NF-κB ligand (RANKL). however, the epigenetic signature contributing to the fate commitment of monocyte/macrophage lineage differentiation into human osteoclasts is largely unknown. In this study, we identified RANKL-responsive human osteoclast-specific superenhancers (SEs) and SE-associated enhancer RNAs (SE-eRNAs) by integrating data obtained from ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, nuclear RNA-seq and PRO-seq analyses. RANKL induced the formation of 200 SEs, which are large clusters of enhancers, while suppressing 148 SEs in macrophages. RANKL-responsive SEs were strongly correlated with genes in the osteoclastogenic program and were selectively increased in human osteoclasts but marginally presented in osteoblasts, CD4+ T cells, and CD34+ cells. In addition to the major transcription factors identified in osteoclasts, we found that BATF binding motifs were highly enriched in RANKL-responsive SEs. The depletion of BATF1/3 inhibited RANKL-induced osteoclast differentiation. Furthermore, we found increased chromatin accessibility in SE regions, where RNA polymerase II was significantly recruited to induce the extragenic transcription of SE-eRNAs, in human osteoclasts. Knocking down SE-eRNAs in the vicinity of the NFATc1 gene diminished the expression of NFATc1, a major regulator of osteoclasts, and osteoclast differentiation. Inhibiting BET proteins suppressed the formation of some RANKL-responsive SEs and NFATc1-associated SEs, and the expression of SE-eRNA:NFATc1. Moreover, SE-eRNA:NFATc1 was highly expressed in the synovial macrophages of rheumatoid arthritis patients exhibiting high-osteoclastogenic potential. To the Editor： A 76-year-old woman presented with palpable masses in her right breast and right forearm. Physical examination revealed a 5-cm-sized mass in the lower outer quadrant of the right breast and a hard, fixed mass, measuring 4 cm in the right forearm. Mammography revealed a round, obscured, hyperdense mass without microcalcifications.

Composite solid electrolytes(CSEs)have emerged as promising candidates for safe and high-energy–density solid-state lithium metal batteries(SSLMBs).however,concurrently achieving exceptional ionic conductivity and interface compatibility between the electrolyte and electrode presents a significant challenge in the development of high-performance CSEs for *** overcome these challenges,we present a method involving the in-situ polymerization of a monomer within a self-supported porous Li_(6.4)La_(3)Zr_(1.4)Ta_(0.6)O_(12)(LLZT)to produce the *** synergy of the continuous conductive LLZT network,well-organized polymer,and their interface can enhance the ionic conductivity of the CSE at room ***,the in-situ polymerization process can also con-struct the integration and compatibility of the solid electrolyte–solid electrode *** synthesized CSE exhibited a high ionic conductivity of 1.117 mS cm^(-1),a significant lithium transference number of 0.627,and exhibited electrochemical stability up to 5.06 V ***/Li+at 30℃.Moreover,the Li|CSE|LiNi_(0.8)Co_(0.1)Mn_(0.1)O_(2) cell delivered a discharge capacity of 105.1 mAh g^(-1) after 400 cycles at 0.5 C and 30℃,corresponding to a capacity retention of 61%.This methodology could be extended to a variety of ceramic,polymer electrolytes,or battery systems,thereby offering a viable strategy to improve the electrochemical properties of CSEs for high-energy–density SSLMBs.

This review article provides overall understanding of stainless,environment-friendly,and nonflammable Mg alloys(SEN alloys)recently developed at the Korea Institute of Materials *** alloys are produced by adding small amounts of Ca and Y(eachhose of commercial AZ91 alloys.(5)Simultaneous introduction of Ca and Y suppresses the formation of Mg17Al12 discontinuous precipitates during aging,leading to the enhanced elongation of aged SEN alloys.(6)Adding mischmetal into the SEN9 alloy leads to a six-fold enhancement in ***,the studies conducted on SEN alloys demonstrate their excellent ignition and corrosion resistances and mechanical properties,which broaden the industrial applications of Mg alloys by addressing their inherent weaknesses.
