Objective:To find out and compare the in vitro antioxidant and tyrosinase inhibitory activities of two species of mangrove ***:Mangrove samples were harvested at the shoreline on the island of Weno,Chuuk State in *** phenol content,antioxidant activity(based on DPPH-free radical scavenging)and tyrosinase inhibitory activity in different tissues(leaves,barks and roots)of Rhizophora stylosa(***)and Sonneratia alba(***),collected from the island of ***:Total phenol content ranged from 4.87 to 11.96 mg per g of freeze dried *** highest antioxidant activity was observed in *** bark(85.5%).The highest tyrosinase inhibitory activity was found in *** ***,total phenol content and antioxidant activity were higher in methanol extracts than in aqueous ***:Taken together,the results of this study proved that mangroves can be excellent sources of antioxidant compounds.

AIM To evaluate a novel grading system to predict lymph node metastasis(LNM) in patients with submucosal invasive colorectal carcinoma(SICRC).METHODS We analyzed the associations between LNM and various clinicopathological features in 252 patients with SICRC who had undergone radical surgery at the Seoul Saint Mary's hospital between 2000 and *** LNM was observed in 31 patients(12.3%). The depth and width of the submucosal invasion, lymphatic invasion, tumor budding, and the presence of poorly differentiated clusters(PDCs) were significantly associated with the incidence of LNM. Using multivariate analysis, the receiver operating characteristic curvewas calculated and the area under curve(AUC) was used to compare the ability of the different parameters to identify the risk of LNM. The most powerful clinicopathological parameter for predicting LNM was lymphatic invasion(difference AUC = 0.204), followed by the presence or absence of tumor budding(difference AUC = 0.190), presence of PDCs(difference AUC = 0.172) and tumor budding graded by the Ueno method(difference AUC = 0.128). CONCLUSION Our results indicate that the tumor budding and the depth multiplied by the width measurements of submucosal invasion can provide important information for patients with SICRC.

Polychlorinated biphenyls(PCBs)and organochlorine pesticides(OCPs)are persistent organic pollutants(POPs)that bioaccumulate in adipose *** investigated the relationship between change in central adiposity and changes in circulating concentrations of POPs over a 12-year period during the *** concentrations of 34 PCBs and 19 OCPs were measured at four time points(1999/2000,2002/03,2005/06,2009/11)in a cohort of midlife women,the Study of Women’s Health Across the *** mixed models were used to test the association between a change in waist circumference and a change in serum POP ***-five women contributed 181 PCB ***-nine women contributed 151 OCP *** adjustment for covariates(study site,race and ethnicity,age at baseline,parity),a one-inch(2.54 cm)increase in the change in waist circumference between visits was associated with a 4.9%decrease in the change in serum concentration of PCB 194(95%CI:−8.0%,−1.6%).No associations were observed for other PCB congeners or the presence of *** increase in the difference in waist circumference over time was not associated with a change in the difference in serum concentrations of PCBs and OCPs except for PCB 194,possibly due to the high lipophilicity.

Objecive:To screen the fatty acid(FA) composition of 20 marine microalgae species,including seven Diophyceae,six Bacillariophyeae four Chlorophyceae,two Haptophyceae and one Raphidophyceae ***:Microalgal cells cultured at the Korea Institute of Ocean Science & Technology were harvested during the late exponential growth phase and the FA composition ***:The FA composition of microalgae was *** example,seven different species of Dinophyceae were composed primarily of C14:0,C16:0.C18:0.C20:4n-6.C20:5n-3 and C22:*** C14:0.C16:0,C16:1.C18:0.C20:5n-3 and C22:6n-3 were abundant FAs in six species of *** addition,four Chlurophyceae,two Haptopkyeeae and one Raphidophyceae species all contained a high degree of C16:1 n-7[(9.2R-34.91)%and(34.48-35.04)%].C14:0[(13.34-25.96)%]and[(26.69-Z8.24)%],and C16:0[(5.89-29.15)%]and[(5.70-16.81)%].Several factors contribute to the nutritional value of *** the polyunsaturated FA content and n-3 to n-6 FA ratio,which could be used to assess the nutritional quality of ***:This study is the first comprehensive assessment of the FA composition and nutritional value of microalgae species in South Korea,and identifies the potential utility of FAs as species-specific biomarkers.

Objective:To establish a novel and highly specific loop-mediated isothermal amplification(LAMP) assay for the identification of nervous necrosis virus(NNV) ***:A set of synthesized primers was used to match the sequences of a specific region of the nnr gene from the National Center for Biotechnology Information database,not originating from NNV-infected fish,the efficiency and specificity of LAMP were measured dependent on the concentration of DNA polymerase and the reaction temperature and *** addition,to determine species-specific LAMP primers,cross reactivity testing was applied to the reaction between NVV and other virus families including viral hemorrhagic septicemia virus and marine ***:The optimized LAMP reaction carried out at 64 ℃ for 60 min,and above 4 U Bst DNA *** sensitivity of LAMP for the detection of nnv was thus about 10 times greater than the sensitivity of polymerase chain *** LAMP assay primers were specific for the detection NNV infection in Epinephelus ***:The development of LAMP primers based on genetic information from a public database,not virus-infected samples,may provide a very simple and convenient method to identify viral infection in aquatic organisms.

Neighbor-Based Malicious Node Detection in Wireless Sensor Networks

The primary function of wireless sensor networks is to gather sensor data from the monitored area. Due to faults or malicious nodes, however, the sensor data collected or reported might be wrong. Hence it is important to detect events in the presence of wrong sensor readings and misleading reports. In this paper, we present a neighbor-based malicious node detection scheme for wireless sensor networks. Malicious nodes are modeled as faulty nodes behaving intelligently to lead to an incorrect decision or energy depletion without being easily detected. Each sensor node makes a decision on the fault status of itself and its neighboring nodes based on the sensor readings. Most erroneous readings due to transient faults are corrected by filtering, while nodes with permanent faults are removed using confidence-level evaluation, to improve malicious node detection rate and event detection accuracy. Each node maintains confidence levels of itself and its neighbors, indicating the track records in reporting past events correctly. Computer simulation shows that most of the malicious nodes reporting against their own readings are correctly detected unless they behave similar to the normal nodes. As a result, high event detection accuracy is also maintained while achieving low false alarm rate.

BACKGROUND The clinical outcomes of endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD)for undifferentiated(UD)intramucosal early gastric cancer(EGC)compared with those of surgery,regardless of lesion size,are not well ***,there is a concern regarding the treatment plan before and after ESD in cases of UD intramucosal EGC within expanded *** To evaluate clinical outcomes of ESD compared with those of surgery in UD intramucosal EGC patients regardless of tumor *** We enrolled patients with UD intramucosal EGC after ESD with complete resection or surgery from January 2005 to August 2020 who met the within or beyond expanded indications with lesion size>2 cm(the only non-curative factor).Overall,123 and 562 patients underwent ESD and surgery,*** propensity-score matching,clinical and long-term outcomes,i.e.,recurrencefree survival(RFS)and overall survival(OS),were *** multivariable Cox proportional hazard model with treatment modality and ESD indication was used to evaluate the recurrence *** After matching,119 patients each were finally enrolled in the ESD and surgery *** median length of hospital stay was shorter in the ESD group than surgery group(4.0 vs 9.0 days,P<0.001).Four cases of recurrence after ESD were local recurrences,all of which occurred within 1 *** recurrence was seven(5.9%)and two(1.7%)in the ESD and surgery groups,*** difference was observed between the two groups with respect to OS(P=0.948).However,the ESD group had inferior RFS compared with the surgery group(P=0.031).ESD was associated with the risk of recurrence after initial treatment in all enrolled patients(hazard ratio,5.2;95%confidence interval:1.0-25.8,P=0.045).CONCLUSION Although OS was similar between the two groups,surveillance endoscopy was important for the ESD than for the surgery group because RFS was inferior and local recurrence was an issue.
