Despite the excellent merits of lead perovskite solar cells, their instability and toxicity still present a bottleneck for practical applications. Bismuth perovskite has emerged as a candidate for photovoltaic (PV) applications, because it not only has a low toxicity but is also stable in air. However, the power conversion efficiency (PCE) remains an unsolved problem. We performed band gap tuning experiments to improve the efficiency. The absorption of ABi3I10 structure films was extended within the visible region, and the optical band gap was decreased considerably compared to that for Cs3Bi2I9. Furthermore, we explained the correlation between the structure and the optical properties via a first-principles study. A device employing CsBi3I10 as a photoactive layer exhibits a PCE of 1.51% and an excellent ambient stability over 30 days.

Several clinical trials have demonstrated the potent antiviral efficacy of entecavir (ETV), and this relatively new nucleoside analogue drug has rapidly become a frequently prescribed therapy for chronic hepatitis B (CHB) worldwide. While the studies have also shown a good overall safety profile for ETV, adverse drug reactions (ADRs) in patients with advanced cirrhosis have been reported and represent a broad spectrum of drug-induced injuries, including lactic acidosis, myalgia, neuropathy, azotemia, hypophosphatemia, muscular weakness, and pancreatitis, as well as immune-mediated responses (i.e., allergic reactions). Cutaneous ADRs associated with ETV are very rare, with only two case reports in the publicly available literature; both of these cases were classified as unspecified hypersensitivity allergic (type I) ADR, but neither were reported as pathologically proven or as evaluated by cytokine release analysis. Here, we report the case of a 45-year-old woman who presented with a generalized maculopapular rash after one week of ETV treatment for lamivudine-resistant CHB. The patient reported having experienced a similar skin eruption during a previous three-month regimen of ETV, for which she had self-discontinued the medication. Histopathological analysis of a skin biopsy showed acanthotic epidermis with focal parakeratosis and a perivascular lymphocytic infiltrate admixed with interstitial eosinophils in the papillary and reticular dermis, consistent with a diagnosis of drug sensitivity. A lymphocyte stimulation test showed significantly enhanced IL-4, indicating a classification of type IVb delayed hypersensitivity. The patient was switched to an adefovir-lamivudine combination regimen and the skin eruption resolved two weeks after the ETV withdrawal. This case represents the first pathologically and immunologically evidenced ETV-induced delayed type hypersensitivity skin reaction reported to date. AIM: To investigate associations between the tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF-α)-1031 T>C,-863 C>A,-857 C>T,-308 G>A,and-238 G>A polymorphisms and HCC in ***: Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) cases were diagnosed at CHA Bundang Medical Center from June 1996 to August 2008. The association between TNF-α polymorphisms and HCC was analyzed in 157HCC patients and 201 controls using a polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism assay. We investigated five TNF-α polymorphisms,which are TNF-α-1031 T>C,-863 C>A,-857 C>T,-308 G>A,and-238 G>A. The TNF-α genotype frequencies,genotype combinations and haplotypes were analyzed to disclose the association with ***: None of the TNF-α polymorphisms was significantly associated with HCC. However,nine genotype combinations had associations with increased likelihood of HCC. Among them,TNF-α-1031/-857/-238 TT/CC/GA(AOR = 18.849,95%CI: 2.203-161.246,P = 0.007),TNF-α-1031/-308/-238 TT/GG/GA(AOR = 26.956,95%CI: 3.071-236.584,P = 0.003),and TNF-α-1031/-238 TT/GA(AOR = 21.576,95%CI: 2.581-180.394,P = 0.005) showed marked association with HCC. There were five haplotypes of TNF-α polymorphisms which were significantly associated with HCC. They are TNF-α-1031/-863/-857/-308/-238 T-C-C-G-A(OR = 25.824,95%CI: 1.491-447.223,P = 0.0005),TNF-α-1031/-857/-308/-238 T-C-G-A(OR = 12.059,95%CI: 2.747-52.950,P < 0.0001),TNF-α-1031/-857/-238 T-C-A(OR = 10.696,95%CI: 2.428-47.110,P = 0.0001),TNF-α-1031/-308/-238 T-G-A(OR = 7.556,95%CI: 2.173-26.280,P = 0.0002) and TNF-α-1031/-238 T-A(OR = 10.865,95%CI: 2.473-47.740,P = 0.0001). Moreover,HCC Okuda stage Ⅲ cases with the TNF-α-1031 CC genotype had better survival than those with the TT genotype(AOR = 5.795,95%CI: 1.145-29.323). CONCLUSION: Although no single TNF-α polymorphism is associated with HCC in this study,some TNF-α genotype combinations and haplotypes are associated with HCC. AIM: To assess the efficacy of moxifloxacin-containing triple therapy after non-bismuth quadruple therapy failure for Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) ***: Between January 2010 and December 2012,we screened individuals who were prescribed non-bismuth quadruple therapy for H. pylori eradication. Among them,a total of 98 patients who failed non-bismuth quadruple therapy received 1-wk or 2-wk moxifloxacin-containing triple therapy(400 mg moxifloxacin once daily,and 20 mg of rabeprazole and 1 g of amoxicillin twice daily). H. pylori status was evaluated using the 13C-urea breath test 4 wk later,after treatment completion. The eradication rates were determined by intention-to-treat and per-protocol ***: In total,60 and 38 patients received 1-wk and 2-wk moxifloxacin-containing triple therapy,respectively. The intention-to-treat and per-protocol eradication rates were 56.7%(95%CI: 45.0-70.0) and 59.6%(95%CI: 46.6-71.7) in the 1-wk group and 76.3%(95%CI: 63.2-89.5) and 80.6%(95%CI: 66.7-91.9) in the 2-wk group(P = 0.048 and 0.036,respectively). All groups had good compliance(95% vs 94.9%). Neither group showed serious adverse events,and the proportions of patients experiencing mild side effects were not significantly different(21.1% vs 13.9%). Clinical factors such as age,sex,alcohol and smoking habits,comorbidities,and presence of gastric or duodenal ulcer did not influence the eradication therapy efficacy. Development of electrodes with high electrocatalytic activity and stability is essential for solving problems that still restrict the extensive application of vanadium redox flow batteries(VRFBs).Here,we designed a novel negative electrode with superior electrocatalytic activity by tailoring nitrogen functional groups,such as newly formed nitro and pyridinic-N transformed to pyridonic-N,from the prenitrogen-doped *** was experimentally confirmed that an electrode with pyridonic-N and nitro fuctional groups(tailored nitrogen-doped graphite felt,TNGF) has superior electrocatalytic acivity with enhanced electron and mass *** functional theory calulations demonstrated the pyridonic-N and nitro functional groups promoted the adsorption,charge transfer,and bond formation with the vanadium species,which is consistent with expermental *** addition,the V2+/V3+redox reaction mechanism on pyridonic-N and nitro functional groups was estabilised based on density functional theory(DFT) *** TNGF was applied to a VRFB,it enabled enhanced-electrolyte utilization and energy efficiencies(EE) of 57.9% and 64.6%,respectively,at a current density of 250 mA cm^(-2).These results are 18.6% and 8.9% higher than those of VRFB with electrode containing graphitic-N and pyridinicN ***,TNGF-based VRFB still operated with an EE of 59% at a high current density of300 mA cm^(-2).The TNGF-based VRFB exhibited stable cycling performance without noticeable decay of EE over 450 charge-discharge cycles at a current density of 250 mA cm^(-2).The results of this study suggest that introducing pyridonic-N and nitro groups on the electrode is effective for improving the electrochemical performance of VRFBs.

Solid-state fiber dye-sensitized solar cells(SS-FDSSCs) have been the subject of intensive attention and development in recent years. Although this field is only in its infancy, metal–organic frameworks(MOFs) are one such material that has been utilized to further improve the power conversion efficiency of solar cells. In this study, MOF-integrated DSSCs were shown to have potential in the development of solar cell devices with efficiency comparable to or better than that of conventional solar cells. The power conversion efficiency(PCE) of SS-FDSSCs was improved by embedding MOF-801 into a mesoporous-TiO_(2)(mp-TiO_(2)) layer, which was used as a photoanode in SS-FDSSCs, which are inherently flexible. The PCE of the MOF-integrated SS-FDSSCs was 6.50%, which is comparable to that of the reference devices(4.19%).The MOF-801 enhanced SS-FDSSCs decreased the series resistance(R_(s)) value, resulting in effective electron extraction with improved short-circuit current density(J_(SC)), while also increasing the shunt resistance(R_(sh)) value to prevent the recombination of photo-induced electrons. The result is an improved fill factor and, consequently, a higher value for the PCE.

Prostaglandin E2 （PGE2） is known to have a key role in the development of colorectal cancer, but previous experiments showed its contrasting （i.e. tumor-promoting or tu mor-suppressive） roles depending on experimental conditions. To elucidate the mechanisms underlying such contrasting roles of PG E2 in tumorigenesis, we investigated all the previous experiments and found a new signal transduction pathway mediated by retinoic acid receptor-related orphan receptor （ROR）α, in which PGE2/PKCα-dependent phosphorylation of RORα attenuates Wnt target gene expression in colon cancer ceils. From mathematical simulations combined with biochemical experimentation, we revealed that RORα induces a biphasic response of Wnt target genes to PGE2 stimulation through a regulatory switch formed by an incoherent feedforward loop, which provides a mechanistic explanation on the contrasting roles of PGE2 observed in previous experiments. More interestingly, we found that RORα constitutes another regulatory switch formed by coupled positive and negative feedback loops, which regulates the hysteretic response of Wnt signaling and eventually converts a proliferative cellular state into an anti-proliferative state in a very delicate way. Our results indicate that RORα is the key regulator at the center of these hidden switches that critically regulate cancer celt proliferation and thereby being a promising anti-cancer therapeutic target.

AIM： To determine the precise incidence and clinica features of endoscopic ulcers following gastrectomy. METHODS： A consecutive series of patients who un- derwent endoscopic examination following gastrectomy between 2005 and 2010 was retrospectively analyzed. A total of 78 patients with endoscopic ulcers and 759 without ulcers following gastrectomy were enrolled. We analyzed differences in patient age, sex, size of the le- sions, method of operation, indications for gastric resec- tion, and infection rates of Helicobacterpylor/（H. pylor/~ between the nonulcer and ulcer groups. RESULTS： The incidence of endoscopic ulcers after gastrectomy was 9.3% and that of marginal ulcers was 8.6%. Ulcers were more common in patients with Billroth l] anastomosis and pre-existing conditions forpeptic ulcer disease （PUD）. Infection rates of H. pylori- did not differ significantly between the two groups. The patients who underwent operations to treat PUD had lower initial levels of hemoglobin and higher rates of hospital admission. CONCLUSION： H. pylori was not an important factor in ulcerogenesis following gastrectomy. For patients who underwent surgery for PUD, clinical course of mar- ginal ulcers was more severe.
