Reinfection rate and endoscopic changes after successful eradication of Helicobacter pylori

AIM:To determine the long-term outcomes regarding reinfection with Helicobacter pylori(***)and endoscopic changes after successful *** eradication. METHODS:From June 1994 to January 2007,186 patients(M:F=98:88;mean age 50.0±11.4 years), in whom *** had been successfully eradicated, were *** mean duration of follow up was 41.2±24.0 mo. RESULTS:*** reinfection occurred in 58 patients (31.2%).The average annual reinfection rate was 9.1% per patient *** recurrence of peptic ulcer was detected at the follow up *** were no significant differences between the *** eradication regimens for the reinfection rate and no significant differences in endoscopic findings between the *** group and the ***-cured ***:The reinfection rate in Korea is 9.1% which represents a decreasing *** was no relationship between *** infection status and changes in endoscopic *** was also no recurrence or aggravation of ulcers.

OBJECTIVE:Chemotherapeutic agents such as docetaxel(DTX)can trigger chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy(CIPN),which is characterized by unbearable *** study was designed to investigate the analgesic effect and related neuronal mechanism of low-frequency median nerve stimulation(LFMNS)on DTX-induced tactile hypersensitivity in ***:To produce CIPN,DTX was administered intraperitoneally 4 times,once every 2 d,to male ICR *** was performed on the wrist area,and the pain response was measured using von Frey filaments on both hind *** blot and immunofluorescence staining were performed using dorsal root ganglion and spinal cord samples to measure the expression of brainderived neurotrophic factor(BDNF).RESULTS:Repeated LFMNS significantly attenuated the DTX-induced abnormal sensory response and suppressed the enhanced expression of BDNF in the DRG neurons and spinal dorsal ***:LFMNS might be an effective nonpharmaceutical option for treating patients suffering from CIPN via regulating the expression of peripheral and central BDNF.

The biosynthesis of host lipids and/or lipid droplets(LDs)has been studied extensively as a putative therapeutic target in diverse viral ***,directly targeting the LD lipolytic catabolism in virus-infected cells has not been widely ***,we show the linkage of the LD-associated lipase activation to the breakdown of LDs for the generation of free fatty acids(FFAs)at the late stage of diverse RNA viral infections,which represents a broad-spectrum antiviral *** of membrane transporter systems due to virus-induced cell injury results in intracellular malnutrition at the late stage of infection,thereby making the virus more dependent on the FFAs generated from LD storage for viral morphogenesis and as a source of *** replication of SARS-CoV-2 and influenza A virus(IAV),which is suppressed by the treatment with LD-associated lipases inhibitors,is rescued by supplementation with *** administration of lipase inhibitors,either individually or in a combination with virus-targeting drugs,protects mice from lethal IAV infection and mitigates severe lung lesions in SARS-CoV-2-infected ***,the lipase inhibitors significantly reduce proinflammatory cytokine levels in the lungs of SARS-CoV-2-and IAV-challenged animals,a cause of a cytokine storm important for the critical infection or mortality of COVID-19 and IAV *** conclusion,the results reveal that lipase-mediated intracellular LD lipolysis is commonly exploited to facilitate RNA virus replication and furthermore suggest that pharmacological inhibitors of LD-associated lipases could be used to curb current COVID-19-and future pandemic outbreaks of potentially troublesome RNA virus infection in humans.

We investigated bleached human hair by FT-IR microspectroscopy and chemical imaging. The cross sectioned hair is approximately 90 μm in diameter, showed cuticle and cortex in chemical imaging. Differential amide I/II absorbance ratio and broadening amide I band between in the cortex and cuticle were confirmed in FT-IR microspectroscopy and chemical imaging. The cystine monoxide band from the products of disulfide oxidation of the amino acid cystine is associated with hair damaging during bleaching process. With increase bleaching time, the band for cystine monoxide shows more intense and larger area in chemical image. The spatially chemical change was investigated in detail by FT-IR microspectroscopy and chemical imaging during the bleached process.

Endoscopic submucosal tunnel dissection salvage technique for ulcerative early gastric cancer

Endoscopic submucosal dissection is an effective treatment modality for early gastric cancer(EGC), though the submucosal fibrosis found in ulcerative EGC is an obstacle for successful treatment. This report presents two cases of ulcerative EGC in two males, 73- and 80-year-old, with severe fibrosis. As endoscopic ultrasonography suggested that the EGCs had invaded the submucosal layer, the endoscopic submucosal tunnel dissection salvage technique was utilized for complete resection of the lesions. Although surgical gastrectomy was originally scheduled, the two patients had severe coronary heart disease, and surgeries were refused because of the risks associated with their heart conditions. The endoscopic submucosal tunnel dissection salvage technique procedures described in these cases were performed under conscious sedation, and were completed within 30 min. The complete en bloc resection of EGC using endoscopic submucosal tunnel dissection salvage technique was possible with a free resection margin, and no other complications were noted during the procedure. This is the first known report concerning the use of the endoscopic submucosal tunnel dissection salvage technique salvage technique for treatment of ulcerative EGC. We demonstrate that endoscopic submucosal tunnel dissection salvage technique it is a feasible method showing several advantages over endoscopic submucosal dissection for cases of EGC with fibrosis.

Revascularization of immature necrotic teeth is a reliable treatment alternative to conventional apexogenesis or apexification. In case 1, a 12-year-old boy had his necrotic, immature mandibular left second premolar treated with a revascularization technique. At a 24-month follow-up, periapical radiolucency had disappeared and thickening of the root wall was observed. In cases 2 and 3, a lO-year-old boy had his necrotic, immature, bilateral mandibular second premolars treated with the same modality. At 48-month （in case 2） and 42-month （in case 3） follow-ups, loss of periapical radiolucencies and increases in the root wall thickness were also observed.

Prostatic calculi are common and are associated with inflammation of the prostate. Recently,it has been suggested that this inflammation may be associated with prostate carcinogenesis. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between prostatic calculi and prostate cancer （PCa） in prostate biopsy specimens. We retrospectively analyzed 417 consecutive patients who underwent transrectal ultrasonography （TRUS） and prostate biopsies between January 2005 and January 2008. Based on the biopsy findings,patients were divided into benign prostatic hyperplasia and PCa groups. TRUS was used to detect prostatic calculi and to measure prostate *** correlations between PCa risk and age,serum total PSA levels,prostate volume,and prostatic calculi were analyzed. Patient age and PSA,as well as the frequency of prostatic calculi in the biopsy specimens,differed significantly between both the groups （P〈0.05）. In the PCa group,the Gleason scores （GSs） were higher in patients with prostatic calculi than in patients without prostatic calculi （P = 0.023）. Using multivariate logistic regression analysis,we found that patient age,serum total PSA and prostate volume were risk factors for PCa （P = 0.001）,but that the presence of prostatic calculi was not associated with an increased risk of PCa （P = 0.13）. In conclusion,although the presence of prostatic calculi was not shown to be a risk factor for PCa,prostatic calculi were more common in patients with PCa and were associated with a higher GS among these men.
