Genome-wide SNP markers provided insights into the reproductive strategy and genetic diversity of the green tide causative species ulva prolifera in China

ulva prolifera is the causative species of the annually occurring large-scale green tides in China since *** specific biological features on reproductivity strategies,as well as intra-species genetic diversity,are still largely unknown,especially at the genome level,despite their importance in understanding the formation and outbreak of massive green *** the present study,the restriction site-associated DNA genotyping approach(2b-RAD)was adopted to identify the genome-wide single-nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)of 54 individual thalli including samples collected from Subei Shoal in 2019 and Qingdao coast from 2019 to *** genotype results revealed that most of the thalli in 2019 and 2020 were haploid gametophytes,while only half of the thalli were gametophytes in 2021,indicating flexibility in the reproductive strategies for the formation of the green tides among different years and the dominance of asexual and vegetative reproductive mode for the floating ***,population analysis was conducted,and it revealed a very low genetic diversity among samples from Subei Shoal and the Qingdao coast in the same year and a higher divergence among samples in different *** results showed the efficiency of 2b-RAD in the exploration of SNPs in *** and provided the first genome-wide scale evidence for the origin of the large-scale green tides on the Qingdao *** study improved our understanding of the reproductive strategy and genetic diversity of the green tide causative species and will help further reveal the biological causes of the green tide in China.

Effect of structural characteristics on the transport characteristics of solid particles in the thermal storage and release system of circulating fluidized bed

Coal-fired power generation stands as the most economically viable modulating power source in present-day *** holds the potential to offer prospective solutions to the challenges posed by the rapid expansion of intermittent,unpredictable,and unstable renewable energy *** particle thermal storage technology emerges as an effective means to enhance the flexibility of coal-fired circulating fluidized bed power *** attain an optimized structure for the solid particle thermal storage and release system in circulating fluidized bed units,experimental research was conducted on a 0.1 MWth circulating fluidized bed test *** study delved into the impact of ash storage bin geometries and the shapes of their feed-discharge valves on the control properties of solid particle *** experimental outcomes reveal that employing inverted m-shaped valve and dual u-shaped valves for feed control,alongside u-shaped valves and N-shaped valves for discharge control,both enable efficient and rapid storage and release of solid particles within the circulating fluidized *** similar air distribution conditions,the inverted m-shaped valve exhibits lower conveying energy consumption than the dual u-shaped valves,while the N-shaped valve excels in control characteristics over the u-shaped ***,the inverted m-shaped valve and the N-shaped valve demonstrate optimal overflow port heights,and the ash storage bin exhibits an optimum height-to-diameter ratio.

Spatial patterns of zooplankton abundance,biovolume,and size structure in response to environmental variables:a case study in the Yellow Sea and East China Sea

The Yellow Sea(YS)and East China Sea(ECS)are highly dynamic marginal seas of the northwestern Pacific *** gain an in-depth understanding of zooplankton community structure,zooplankton abundance,biovolume,and size structure in summer 2017 in the YS and ECS were assessed using ZooScan imaging *** abundance and biovolume ranged 2.94–1187.14 inds./m^(3)and 3.13–3438.51 mm^(3)/m^(3),*** on the biovolume data of the categorized size classes of 26 identified taxonomic groups,the zooplankton community was classified into five groups,and each group was coupled with distinctive oceanographic *** the influence of the Yellow Sea Cold Water Mass,the Yellow Sea offshore group featured the lowest bottom temperature(10.84±3.42℃)and the most abundant Calanoids(mainly in the 2–3 mm size class).In the Yellow Sea inshore group,Hydrozoans showed the largest biovolume and dominated in the 3–4-mm and>5-mm size *** East China Sea offshore group,which was affected by the Kuroshio Branch Current,featured high temperature and salinity,and the lowest bottom dissolved oxygen(2.58±0.5 mg/L).The lowest values of zooplankton abundance and biovolume in the East China Sea offshore group might be attributed to the bottom dissolved oxygen *** East China Sea inshore group,which was mainly influenced by the Zhejiang-Fujian Coastal Current and Changjiang Diluted Water,was characterized by high chlorophyll a and the largest biovolume of carnivorous Siphonophores(280.82±303.37 mm^(3)/m^(3)).The Changjiang River estuary offshore group showed the most abundant Cyclopoids,which might be associated with the less turbid water mass in this *** temperature was considered the most important factor in shaping the size compositions of Calanoids in different groups.

Solid particle heat storage technology offers a potential solution to the challenges posed by the significant growth of renewable energy sources,particularly in terms of grid security and ***,it has the capability to optimize the energy utilization efficiency of the power *** order to investigate the transport regulation characteristics of solid particles in the thermal storage and release system of a circulating fluidized bed(CFB),a test rig with a capacity of 0.1 MW(th)was *** rig was utilized to systematically study the transport regulation characteristics of solid particles under the double u-type valve feed structure and u-type valve discharge *** experimental findings indicate that the system's design enables efficient and rapid storage and release of solid particles in the *** air distribution mode,specifically the double u-type valve feed structure and the u-type valve discharge structure,significantly influence the feed and discharge characteristics of the ash storage *** was observed that the impact of loose air on these characteristics is more substantial than that of the return air,irrespective of the feed structure or the return *** adjusting the feed and discharge rate,it is recommended to adopt a scheme that involves coarse adjustment through loose air and fine adjustment through return air.

Reproductive biology of Hemitripterus villosus in the Bohai Strait,China

To understand the reproductive biology of Hemitripterus villosus in the Bohai Strait,and fill the key knowledge gap in verifying reproductive seasonality and documenting gonadotropin dependent reproductive cycle of this species,a year-round detail study was conducted for the first *** total,263 individuals were randomly sampled off the coasts of the Bohai *** show that and the overall female-to-male ratio(1.35:1)did not differ significantly from the 1:1 sex *** length and weight relationship for females and males were regressed,depicting an isometric growth for both *** reproductive phases of the complete gonadotropin dependent reproductive cycle in both sexes were *** monthly variations in the gonadosomatic and hepatosomatic indexes for both sexes further indicated that this species spawns a single batch of eggs per year and the peak spawning period is from October to *** average diameter of eggs ranged from 2.10 to 3.57 *** length at first sexual maturity was 224.87 mm for females and 241.26 mm for *** positive relationships between absolute fecundity and fish size,and also gonadal weight were *** from the Bohai Strait exhibited smaller body size,smaller egg diameter,lower gonadosomatic index,lower absolute fecundity,and higher population extinction risk than the other populations’studied *** findings contribute to understanding the status of this isolated westernmost population,and we emphasize that more efficient protection measures for the species and control measures are urgently required to improve the coastal environment in the Bohai Strait.

Tribological applications of polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)are often limited by technological complexity to overcome its poor wear ***,a PTFE/polyetheretherketone(PEEK)heterolayer(HL)was proposed and evaluated as a new solid lubrication ***-on-disk tribometry found the lowest friction coefficient(μ)of 0.031 and ultralow wear for the PEEK/HL under typical *** friction coefficient of the HL surpasses those of the state-of-the-art polymeric coatings/composites by at least 200%,and approaches that of highly lubricated *** investigations revealed multi-length physical and chemical heterogeneity of the HL that best facilitates a tribofilm with high subsurface stability and surface *** technological simplicity and robustness of the HL’s high lubricity make it a promising new type of solid lubrication toward greater reliability and longevity.

Can serum immunoglobulin G4 levels and age serve as reliable predictors of relapse in autoimmune pancreatitis?

We are writing in response to the paper published in the World Journal of Gastroenterology by Zhou et *** authors identified higher serum immunoglobulin(Ig)G4 levels and age over 55 years as independent risk factors for disease *** notable strengths,it is crucial to address potential ***,the cohort study included 189 patients with autoimmune pancreatitis(AIP)type 1(with higher IgG4 seropositivity and higher relapse)and 24 with type 2(with lower IgG4 seropositivity and lower relapse).Consequently,most,if not all,AIP type 2 patients were assigned to the normal group,possibly inflating the association of higher serum IgG4 levels with relapse and potentially exaggerating the association of older age with ***,the authors did not provide sufficient details regarding AIP diagnosis,such as the ratio of definitive vs probable cases and the proportion of *** cases where histological evidence is unavailable or indeterminate,AIP type 2 may be misdiagnosed as definitive type 1,and type 1 may also be misdiagnosed as probable type 2,particularly in cases with normal or mildly elevated serum IgG4 ***,in this retrospective study,approximately one-third of the consecutive patients initially collected were excluded for various ***,the impact of nonrandom exclusion on relapse outcomes should be carefully *** conclusion,the paper by Zhou et al offers plausible,though not entirely compelling,evidence suggesting a predictive role of elevated serum IgG4 levels and advanced age in AIP *** foundation for future investigations lies in ensuring a reliable diagnosis and accurate disease subtyping,heavily dependent on obtaining histological *** this regard,endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle biopsy emerges as a pivotal component of the diagnostic process,contributing to mitigating biases in future explorations of the disease.

S-scheme regulated Ni_(2)P-NiS/twinned Mn_(0.5)Cd_(0.5)S hetero-homojunctions for efficient photocatalytic H_(2)evolution

Effective bulk phase and surface charge separation is critical for charge utilization during the photo-catalytic energy conversion *** this work,the ternary Ni_(2)P-NiS/twinned Mn_(0.5)Cd_(0.5)S(T-MCS)nanohybrids were successfully constructed via combining Ni_(2)P-NiS with T-MCS solid solution for visible light photocatalytic H_(2)evolution.T-MCS is composed of zinc blende Mn_(0.5)Cd_(0.5)S(ZB-MCS)and wurtzite Mn_(0.5)Cd_(0.5)S(WZ-MCS)and those two alternatively arranged crystal phases endow T-MCS with excellent bulk phase charge separation performance for the slight energy level difference between ZB-MCS and WZ-MCS.S-scheme carriers transfer route between NiS and T-MCS can accelerate the interfacial charge separation and retain the active electrons and holes,meanwhile,co-catalyst Ni_(2)P as electron receiver and proton reduction center can further optimize the H_(2)evolution reaction kinetics based on the surface Schottky barrier *** above-formed homo-heterojunctions can establish multiple charge transfer channels in the bulk phase of T-MCS and interface of T-MCS and Ni_(2)*** the synergistic effect of twinned homojunction,S-scheme heterojunction,and Schottky barrier,the ternary Ni_(2)P-NiS/T-MCS com-posite manifested an H_(2)production rate of 122.5 mmol h^(-1)g^(-1),which was 1.33,1.24,and 2.58 times higher than those of the NiS/T-MCS(92.4 mmol h^(-1)g^(-1)),Ni_(2)P/T-MCS(98.4 mmol h^(-1)g^(-1)),and T-MCS(47.5 mmol h^(-1)g^(-1)),*** work demonstrates a promising strategy to develop efficient sul-fides photocatalyst toward targeted solar-driven H_(2)evolution through homo-heterojunction engineering.

Interfacial charge redistribution to promote the catalytic activity of Vs-CoP-CoS_(2)/C n-n heterojunction for oxygen evolution

Modulating surface charge redistribution based on interface and defect engineering has been considered as a resultful means to boost electrocatalytic ***,the mechanism of synergistic regulation of heterojunction and vacancy defects remains ***,a Vs-CoP-CoS_(2)/C n-n heterojunction with sulfur vacancies is successfully constructed,which manifests superior electrocatalytic activity for oxygen evolution,as demonstrated by a low overpotential of 170 mV to reach 10 mA/cm^(2).The experimental results and density functional theory calculations testify that the outstanding OER performance of Vs-CoP-CoS_(2)/C heterojunction is owed to the synergistic effect of sulfur vacancies and built-in electric field at n-n heterogeneous interface,which accelerates the electron transfer,induces the charge redistribution,and regulates the adsorption energy of active intermediates during the *** study affords a promising means to regulate the electrocatalytic performance by the construction of heterogeneous interfaces and defects,and in-depth explores the synergistic mechanisms of n-n heterojunction and vacancies.
