Batteries that utilize low-cost elemental sulfur and light metallic lithium as electrodes have great potential in achieving high energy ***,building a lithium-sulfur(Li-S)full battery by controlling the electrolyte volume generally produces low practical energy because of the limited electrochemical Li-S ***,the high energy/high performance of a Li-S full battery with practical sulfur loading and minimum electrolyte volume is reported.A unique hybrid architecture configured with Ni-Co metal alloy(NiCo)and metal oxide(NiCoO_(2))nanoparticles heterogeneously anchored in carbon nanotube-embedded selfstanding carbon matrix is fabricated as a host for *** work demonstrates the considerable improvement that the hybrid structure's high conductivity and satisfactory porosity promote the transport of electrons and lithium ions in Li-S *** experimental and theoretical validations,the function of NiCo and NiCoO_(2) nanoparticles as an efficient polysulfide mediator is *** particles afford polysulfide anchoring and catalytic sites for Li-S redox reaction,thus improving the redox conversion *** at high sulfur loading,the nanostructured Ni-Co metal alloy and metal oxide enable to have stable cycling performance under lean electrolyte conditions both in half-cell and full-cell batteries using a graphite anode.

Clinical significance of distally located periurethral calcification in patients with lower urinary tract symptoms of benign prostate hyperplasia

This study evaluated the association of periurethral calcification(PUC)with uroflowmetric parameters and symptom severity in male patients with lower urinary tract symptoms(LUTS)of benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH).The data were collected from a prospectively maintained database of 1321 men with LUTS of BPH who visited Chonnam National University Hospital(Gwang-ju,Korea)from January 2015 to December *** severity and location were evaluated on the midsagittal plane during transrectal *** among age,prostate-related parameters,International Prostate Symptom Score(IPSS),and uroflowmetric parameters were *** the 1321 patients in this study,530(40.1%)had *** with PUC had significantly higher IPSS(mean±standard deviation[s.d.]:15.1±8.7 vs 13.1±7.9;P<0.001)and lower peak flow rate(Qmax;mean±s.d.:12.4±6.6 ml s^(-1) vs 14.7±13.3 ml s^(-1);P<0.001),compared with patients who did not have *** according to PUC severity revealed that patients with severe PUC had higher prostate-specific antigen(PSA)level(P=0.009),higher total IPSS(P<0.001),lower Qmax(P=0.002),and smaller prostate volume(P<0.001),compared with patients who had non-severe(mild or moderate)*** analysis showed that distal PUC was independently associated with high total IPSS(P=0.02),voiding symptom score(P=0.04),and storage symptom score(P=0.023),and low Qmax(P=0.015).In conclusion,PUC was significantly associated with worse LUTS parameters in terms of IPSS and ***,distally located PUC was independently associated with worse LUTS of BPH in men.

Comparison Between Full-Scale and Model Experiments of Oil Fences

This study examines the performance of an air expansion oil fence system as deployed in two different configurations. Geometric and tension characteristics of the oil fence are investigated for （1） the system attached to two vessels and （2） the system attached to one vessel with spreading devices. Since full-scale testing can be time consuming and expensive, another component of the study was to examine how well models would perform. A scaling technique was developed and a set of experiments were conducted with a 1/20-th scale model of the oil fence in a towing tank facility. Performance resalts from the model tests were compared with those conducted at sea. The tension （N） in the full-scale results were represented by R = avb, where v is the current velocity in m/s and the values for a and b used for comparison purposes. Both sets of full-scale and model tests were conducted with an oil fence opening of 120 m and 160m. In the full-scale experiment with spreading devices attaahed to the forward ends of the oil fence, the horizontal distance of the spreading devices has a tendency to linearly increase as the current velocity increases when the warp length is as short as 50 m, but to linearly decrease as the current velocity increases when the warp length is extended to 100 m and 150 m. The spreading distance at uniform current velocitys in the model test increases as the warp length is extended. While there is no significant difference of spreading distance between the cases of 100 m and 150 m, the spreading distance becomes shorter when the warp length is 50 m.

Carcinoma in situ arising in a tubulovillous adenoma of the distal common bile duct: A case report

Tubulovillous adenomas are common in the colon and rectum, but are rare in the common bile duct. Biliary adenomas may produce obstructive jaundice, which can be easily confused with a malignant neoplasm or stone. We report a case of a carcinoma in situ arising in a tubulovillous adenoma of the distal common bile duct causing obstructive jaundice. A 55-year-old male presented with a 10-d history of pruritus and progressive jaundice. Abdominal sonography and computed tomography showed a mass in the distal common bile duct. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography showed luminal narrowing of the bile duct due to a polypoid mass. Positron emission tomography demonstrated no abnormal uptake. It was thought that this mass was a malignant tumor, thus a pylorus-preserving panceaticoduodenectomy was performed. The final pathology showed a tubulovillous adenoma with carcinoma in situ of the distal common bile duct. At follow-up 8 mo later, endoscopy showed multiple polyps in the rectum, colon and stomach. The polyps were removed by endoscopic mucosal resection and shown to be tubular adenomas with high grade dysplasia. Biliary adenomas require careful follow-up for early detection of recurrence and malignant transformation.

Immunosuppressant treatment for IgG4-related sclerosing cholangitis: A case report

BACKGROUND Immunoglobulin G4-related disease(IgG4-RD)is a multi-system fibroinflammatory disorder that can involve any organ,including the salivary glands,pancreas,and biliary *** of immunoglobulin G4-related sclerosing cholangitis(IgG4-SC)is similar to that for IgG4-RD,but progression is irreversible in some *** present a case of IgG4-SC in which an immuno-suppressant induced marked clinical and radiologic *** SUMMARY A 63-year-old male presented with a prominent itching sensation and wholebody *** showed obstructive-pattern jaundice,an elevated IgG4 level,and infiltration of a large number of IgG4-positive cells in the ampulla of *** imaging findings of intrahepatic duct(IHD)and common bile duct dilation,an elevated serum IgG4 level,and characteristic histological findings led to diagnosis of IgG4-SC that compatible with the 2019 ACR/EULAR classification *** planned to treat the patient with high-dose glucocorticoid(GC),followed by cyclophosphamide pulse *** treatment with high-dose GC and an immunosuppressant,imaging studies showed that IHD dilatation had completely *** Prompt diagnosis and appropriate treatment of IgG4-SC are *** there is a risk of relapse of IgG4-SC,the GC dose should be gradually reduced,and a maintenance immunosuppressant should be given.
