Using the discrete element method to assess the mixing of polydisperse solid particles in a rotary drum

Despite the wide applications of powder and solid mixing in industry, knowledge on the mixing of polydisperse solid particles in rotary drum blenders is lacking. This study investigates the mixing of monodisperse, bidisperse, tridisperse, and polydisperse solid particles in a rotary drum using the dis- crete element method. To validate the model developed in this study, experimental and simulation results were compared. The validated model was then employed to investigate the effects of the drum rotational speed, particle size, and initial loading method on the mixing quality. The degree of mixing of polydis- perse particles was smaller than that for monodisperse particles owing to the segregation phenomenon. The mixing index increased from an initial value to a maximum and decreased slightly before reaching a plateau for bidisperse, tridisperse, and polydisperse particles as a direct result of the segregation of par- ticles of different sizes. Final mixing indices were higher for polydisperse particles than for tridisperse and bidisperse particles. Additionally, segregation was weakened by introducing additional particles of intermediate size. The best mixing of bidisperse and tridisperse particles was achieved for top-bottom smaller-to-larger initial loading, while that of polydisperse systems was achieved using top-bottom smaller-to-larger and top-bottom larger-to-smaller initial loading methods.

The aim of the current research was to clone and to characterize the partial 66 kDa streptavidin-binding peptide(SBP)found in the germinated embryos of Pisum sativum *** pea(*** ***)embryos possess prominent 66 kDa SBPs that gradually disappeared after few hours of germination in germinated embryos,but not in the *** total RNA was isolated from embryos of *** but could not be isolated from the *** partial nucleotides sequences of 66 kDa SBPs of embryonic stalk(*** ***)were cloned and identified using pMOSBlue vector.66 kDa(SBP)gene from the embryos of *** *** possesses 327 bp having an open reading frame(ORF)region in a part of the gene that encoded for 108 amino *** showed similarity among 66 kDa SBPs *** ***,with *** seed biotinylated protein(SBP65)and *** sbp65a mRNA with DNA distance matrix between 0.0094 to ***-TOF mass spectrometry analysis of 66 kDa(SBP)proteins showed it had similar short peptides to 19 proteins found in different organisms,especially Convicilin precursor,and the seed biotinylated protein in *** alignment results of both nucleotide sequences and amino acid residues either from cloning or MALDI-TOF-MS showed differences with related species,especially *** mRNA was found in the cotyledons during seeds germination,which means no metabolic activities and this part may act only as food reservoirs for growing newly embryos.

Damage of the blood vessels in retina due to diabetes is called diabetic retinopathy(DR).Hemorrhages is theﬁrst clinically visible symptoms of *** paper presents a new technique to extract and classify the hemorrhages in fundus *** normal objects such as blood vessels,fovea and optic disc inside retinal images are masked to distinguish them from *** masking blood vessels,thresholding that separates blood vessels and background intensity followed by a newﬁlter to extract the border of vessels based on orienta-tions of vessels are *** masking optic disc,the image is divided into sub-images then the brightest window with maximum variance in intensity is *** the candidate dark regions are extracted based on adaptive thresholding and top-hat morphological *** are extracted from each candidate region based on ophthalmologist selection such as color and size and pattern recognition techniques such as texture and wavelet *** different types of Support Vector Machine(SVM),Linear SVM,Quadratic SVM and Cubic SVM classiﬁer are applied to classify the candidate dark regions as either hemor-rhages or *** efﬁcacy of the proposed method is demonstrated using the standard benchmark DIARETDB1 database and by comparing the results with methods in *** performance of the method is measured based on average sensitivity,speciﬁcity,F-score and *** results show the Linear SVM classiﬁer gives better results than Cubic SVM and Quadratic SVM with respect to sensitivity and accuracy and with respect to speciﬁcity Quadratic SVM gives better result as compared to other SVMs.

In the cloud environment,the transfer of data from one cloud server to another cloud server is called *** can be delivered in various ways,from one data centre to *** research aims to increase the migration performance of the virtual machine(VM)in the cloud *** allow cloud customers to store essential data and ***,server usage has grown dramatically due to the virtualization of computer systems,resulting in higher data centre power consumption,storage needs,and operating *** VMs on one data centre manage share resources like central processing unit(CPU)cache,network bandwidth,memory,and application ***-cloud,VMmigration addresses the performance degradation due to cloud server configuration,unbalanced traffic load,resource load management,and fault situations during data *** speed is influenced by the size of the VM,the dirty rate of the running application,and the latency ofmigration *** a result,evaluating VM migration performance while considering all of these factors becomes a difficult *** effort of this research is to assess migration problems on *** simulation results in Matlab show that if the VMsize grows,themigration time of VMs and the downtime can be impacted by three orders *** dirty page rate decreases,themigration time and the downtime grow,and the latency time decreases as network bandwidth increases during the migration time and post-migration overhead calculation when the VMtransfer is *** the simulated cases of VMs migration were performed in a fuzzy inference system with performance graphs.

Accurately estimating the remaining useful life(RUL)of batteries is crucial for optimizing maintenance,preventing failures,and enhancing reliability,thereby saving costs and *** study introduces a hybrid approach for estimating the RUL of a battery based on the firefly algorithm–neural network(FA–NN)model,in which the FA is employed as an optimizer to fine-tune the network weights and hidden layer biases in the *** performance of the FA–NN is comprehensively compared against two hybrid models,namely the harmony search algorithm(HSA)–NN and cultural algorithm(CA)–NN,as well as a single model,namely the autoregressive integrated moving average(ARIMA).The comparative analysis is based mean absolute error(MAE)and root mean squared error(RMSE).Findings reveal that the FA–NN outperforms the HSA–NN,CA–NN,and ARIMA in both employed metrics,demonstrating su-perior predictive capabilities for estimating the RUL of a ***,the FA–NN achieved a MAE of 2.5371 and a RMSE of 2.9488 compared with the HSA–NN with a MAE of 22.0583 and RMSE of 34.5154,the CA–NN with a MAE of 9.1189 and RMSE of 22.4646,and the ARIMA with a MAE of 494.6275 and RMSE of ***,the FA–NN exhibits significantly smaller maximum errors at 34.3737 compared with the HSA–NN at 490.3125,the CA–NN at 827.0163,and the ARIMA at 1.16e+03,further emphasizing its robust performance in minimizing prediction *** study offers important insights into battery health management,showing that the proposed method is a promising solution for precise RUL predictions.
