Hybrid firefly algorithm-neural network for battery remaining useful life estimation

Accurately estimating the remaining useful life(RUL)of batteries is crucial for optimizing maintenance,preventing failures,and enhancing reliability,thereby saving costs and *** study introduces a hybrid approach for estimating the RUL of a battery based on the firefly algorithm–neural network(FA–NN)model,in which the FA is employed as an optimizer to fine-tune the network weights and hidden layer biases in the *** performance of the FA–NN is comprehensively compared against two hybrid models,namely the harmony search algorithm(HSA)–NN and cultural algorithm(CA)–NN,as well as a single model,namely the autoregressive integrated moving average(ARIMA).The comparative analysis is based mean absolute error(MAE)and root mean squared error(RMSE).Findings reveal that the FA–NN outperforms the HSA–NN,CA–NN,and ARIMA in both employed metrics,demonstrating su-perior predictive capabilities for estimating the RUL of a ***,the FA–NN achieved a MAE of 2.5371 and a RMSE of 2.9488 compared with the HSA–NN with a MAE of 22.0583 and RMSE of 34.5154,the CA–NN with a MAE of 9.1189 and RMSE of 22.4646,and the ARIMA with a MAE of 494.6275 and RMSE of ***,the FA–NN exhibits significantly smaller maximum errors at 34.3737 compared with the HSA–NN at 490.3125,the CA–NN at 827.0163,and the ARIMA at 1.16e+03,further emphasizing its robust performance in minimizing prediction *** study offers important insights into battery health management,showing that the proposed method is a promising solution for precise RUL predictions.

Actuator Fault Monitoring and Fault Tolerant Control in Distillation Columns

This paper presents, from a practical viewpoint accommodation in distillation columns. Addressing faults in an investigation of real-time actuator fault detection, propagation and industrial processes, coupled with the growing demand for higher performance, improved safety and reliability necessitates implementation of less complex alternative control strategies in the events of malfunctions in actuators, sensors and or other system components. This work demonstrates frugality in the design and implementation of fault tolerant control system by integrating fault detection and diagnosis techniques with simple active restructurable feedback controllers and with backup feedback signals and switchable reference points to accommodate actuator fault in distillation columns based on a priori assessed control structures. A multivariate statistical process monitoring based fault detection and diagnosis technique through dynamic principal components analysis is integrated with one-point control or alternative control structure for prompt and effective fault detection, isolation and accommodation. The work also investigates effects of disturbances on fault propagation and detection. Specifically, the reflux and vapor boil-up control strategy used for a binary distillation column during normal operation is switched to one point control of the more valued product by utilizing the remaining healthy actuator. The proposed approach was implemented on two distillation processes： a simulated methanol-water separation column and the benchmark Shell standard heavy oil fractionation process to assess its effectiveness.

In this paper, we present the effect of varied illumination levels on the electrical properties of the organic blend bulk heterojuction （BHJ） photodiode. To prepare the BHJ blend, poly（2-methoxy-5（2P-ethylhexyloxy） phenyleneviny- lene （MEH-PPV） and aluminum-tris-（8-hydroxyquinoline）（alq3） are used as donor and acceptor materials, respectively. In order to fabricate the photodiode, a 40-nm thick film of poly（3, 4-ethylendioxytbiophene）：poly（styrensulfonate）（PE- DOT：PSS） is primarily deposited on a cleaned ITO coated glass substrate by spin coating technique. The organic photo- sensitive blend is later spun coated on the PEDOT：PSS layer, followed by the lithium fluoride （LiF） and aluminium （A1） thin films deposition by thermal evaporation. The optical properties of the MEH-PPV：alq3 blend thin films are investigated using photoluminescence （PL） and UV-Vis spectroscopy. The photodiode shows good photo-current response as a function of variable illumination levels. The responsivity value - 8 mA/W at 3 V is found and the ratio of photo-current to dark current （lph/IDark） is found to be 1.24.

Assessment of Wind Characteristics and Wind Potential Energy Yield in the Jordanian Southern Region

This study presents investigation and assessment of wind characteristics and wind energy potential for four sites at the Jordanian southern region （Hareer, Ma＇an, Aqaba and Fujaij）. Based on the available measured data sources, the data were analyzed using hourly and mean monthly WS （wind speed） data at different heights, using a two-parameter probability distribution of Weibull function. The recognized monthly and yearly Weibull functions were considered for the second analysis step. The wind potential energy yields assessment for an ideal capable wind turbine was implemented. Finally, for energy yield estimation, a wind turbine from Vestas with a 660 kW rated power was chosen. The wind turbine characteristics： AF （availability factor）, CF （capacity factor） and wind turbine efficiency （η）, were defined and calculated for each site. The result of the analysis showed that, all sites have good wind energy potential, the Hareer site at Tafila has the best wind resources.

Modification of Optical Band Gap and Surface Morphology of NiTsPc Thin Films

We demonstrate the effects of solvent treatment on the optical band gap and surface morphology of nickel(ii)phthalocyanine tetrasulfonic acid tetrasodium salt(NiTsPc)thin *** optical band gap and surface morphology modifications are carried out by immersing the films in chloroform for different immersion times until the optimized time(60 min)is found.A Tauc plot is used to calculate the optical energy gaps,which are found to be about 2.70-2.85 eV and 1.43-1.50 eV,in the B and Q bands *** topography shows that more granular structures have been formed upon the optimized immersion ***(PL)quenching occurs in the solvent-treated NiTsPc film incorporated with a tris(8-hydroxyquinolinato)aluminium(alq3)*** PL quenching indicates that the charge carrier transport is more efficient at the interface between NiTsPc/alq3 as a result of the solvent treatment.

Synthesis, Spectroscopy and Electrochemistry of New 3-(5-Aryl-4,5-Dihydro-1H-Pyrazol-3-yl)-4-Hydroxy-2H-Chromene-2-One 4, 5 as a Novel Class of Potential Antibacterial and Antioxidant Derivatives

3-((2E)-3(aryl)prop-2-enoyl)-2H-chromen-2-one 3 was synthesized from 4-hydroxy coumarin by refluxing 3-acetyl-4-hydroxy coumarin with aromatic aldehydes in chloroform in the presence of a catalytic amount of piperidine. 3 was converted to pyrazoles 4, 5 by treatment with hydrazine and phenylhydrazine in toluene, respectively. The structures of the new compounds were confirmed by elemental analysis, IR, and multinuclear/multidimensional NMR spectroscopy (1H, 13C-NMR, NOESY, HMBC) which allowed us to assign the complete network of proton and carbon atoms. all the compounds exhibited one quasireversible redox process. all the newly synthesized compounds were screened for their antibacterial and antioxidant activities. Antimicrobial studies revealed that 3-(5-(2,5-dimethylphenyl)-1-phenyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazol-3-yl)-4- hydroxy-2H-chromene-2-one 5c showed significant antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas Aeruginosa 27853. Furthermore, 3-(5-(aryl)-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazol-3-yl)-4-hydroxy-2H-chromene- 2-ones 4, 5 showed antioxidant activities of different extents with respect to individual compounds as well as to the antioxidant methods. The 3-(5-(phenyl)-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazol-3-yl)-4-hydroxy-2H-chromene-2-ones 4a was found to be the most active antioxidant in the series and more active than trolox which makes the investigated complexes a new promising class of antibacterial compounds.

Many recent studies are concerned with low cost,easy to handle and alternative renewable energy as a feasible solution for the upcoming crisis of energy *** are unicellular entities the can only depend on CO_(2),water and solar power to cover their nutritional *** current study is concerned with using algal cells in a polymeric hydrogel,as a cheap source of energy for electricity *** vulgaris has been proved to be a promising algal species for electricity generation,as compared with Micractinium *** hydrogel has been used for the immobilization of both algal species in order to protect them from the adverse surrounding conditions in addition to its ability to slowly release the required water molecules according to *** these conditions,*** showed the ability to generate 60 mV compared with 15 mV generated by *** electron micrographs showed nano-threads that bind the *** cells to each other,indicating the ability of algae to create nanowires that facilitate the electron transfer among algal cells and from cells to the nearest ***,we would expect an increase in the produced potential with simultaneous amendment of environmentally polluted water,such as sewage or waste *** of FTIR and raman spectroscopy proved the presence of the characteristic groups of PVA hydrogel and proved the proper integration of the algal cells inside the hydrogel cavities.

This study investigates the (3+1)-dimensional soliton equation via the Hirota bilinear approach and symbolic computations. We successfully construct some new lump, lump-kink, breather wave, lump periodic, and some other new interaction solutions. all the reported solutions are verified by inserting them into the original equation with the help of the Wolfram Mathematica package. The solution’s visual characteristics are graphically represented in order to shed more light on the results obtained. The findings obtained are useful in understanding the basic nonlinear fluid dynamic scenarios as well as the dynamics of computational physics and engineering sciences in the related nonlinear higher dimensional wave fields.

Heavy metals accumulation in suburban roadside plants of a tropical area(Jengka,Malaysia)

Introduction:This study aims to examine the uptake and translocation of Cd,Cu,Fe,and Pb in different parts of three roadside plant species grown in the semi-urban of Jengka,Pahang,***:Heavy metal concentrations were determined from various parts of Athyrium esculentum(AE),Chromolaena odorata(CO),and Lantana camara(LC).The bioconcentration factor(BCF)and translocation ratio of heavy metals from soils to plants were ***:Fe showed the highest metal concentration determined(al concentration observed(all *** metal concentration in the roadside plants was higher than metal determined in the same species from an uncontaminated *** component analysis(PCA)suggests anthropogenic and natural sources of heavy *** roots slightly enriched by Cd and Pb(BCF1).The translocation ratio of four metals suggests that absorption of the three plants had the rank:root>stem>***:The metals in the root zone transported weakly to the stem but more strongly mobilized to leaves when available in the stems.A comprehensive study of heavy metal concentration in a variety of roadside plants in the tropical area should be done in the future ensuring the precise source and translocation mechanisms.
