This study aims to reveal the occurrence and origin of typical groundwater with high arsenic and fluoride concentrations in the loess area of the Guanzhong basin—a Neogene faulted *** findings are as follows:(1)Groundwater samples with high arsenic and fluoride concentrations collected from the loess area and the terraces of the Weihe River accounted for 26%and 30%,respectively,of the total samples,with primary hydrochemical type identified as HCO_(3)-*** karst and sand areas exhibit relatively high groundwater quality,serving as preferred sources for water *** is recommended that local governments fully harness groundwater in these areas;(2)groundwater with high arsenic and fluoride concentrations in the loess area and the alluvial plain of rivers in Dali County is primarily distributed within the Guanzhong basin,which represents the drainage zone of groundwater;(3)arsenic and fluoride in groundwater originate principally from natural and anthropogenic sources;(4)the human health risk assessments reveal that long-term intake of groundwater with high arsenic and fluoride concentrations pose cancer or non-cancer risks,which are more serious to kids compared to *** study provides a theoretical basis for the prevention and treatment of groundwater with high arsenic and fluoride concentrations in loess areas.

Uncovering the dominant contribution of intermediate volatility compounds in secondary organic aerosol formation from biomass-burning emissions

Organic vapors from biomass burning are a major source of secondary organic aerosols(SOAs). Previous smog chamber studies found that the SOA contributors in biomass-burning emissions are mainly volatile organic compounds(VOCs). While intermediate volatility organic compounds(IVOCs) are efficient SOA precursors and contribute a considerable fraction of biomass-burning emissions, their contribution to SOA formation has not been directly observed. Here, by deploying a newly-developed oxidation flow reactor to study SOA formation from wood burning, we find that IVOCs can contribute ～70% of the formed SOA, i.e.>2 times more than VOCs. This previously missing SOA fraction is interpreted to be due to the high wall losses of semi-volatile oxidation products of IVOCs in smog chambers. The finding in this study reveals that SOA production from biomass burning is much higher than previously thought, and highlights the urgent need for more research on the IVOCs from biomass burning and potentially other emission sources.

In recent years,water evaporation-induced electricity has attracted a great deal of attention as an emerging green and renewable energy harvesting *** abundant materials have been developed to fabricate hydrovoltaic devices,the limitations of high costs,inconvenient storage and transport,low environmental benefits,and unadaptable shape have restricted their wide ***,an electricity generator driven by water evaporation has been engineered based on natural biomass leather with inherent properties of good moisture permeability,excellent wettability,physicochemical stability,flexibility,and *** numerous nano/microchannels together with rich oxygen-bearing functional groups,the natural leather-based water evaporator,Leather_(Emblic-NPs-SA/CB),could continuously produce electricity even staying outside,achieving a maximum output voltage of∼3 V with six-series ***,the leather-based water evaporator has enormous potential for use as a flexible self-powered electronic floor and seawater demineralizer due to its sensitive pressure sensing ability as well as its excellent photothermal conversion efficiency(96.3%)and thus fast water evaporation rate(2.65 kg m^(−2)h^(−1)).This work offers a new and functional material for the construction of hydrovoltaic devices to harvest the sustained green energy from water evaporation in arbitrary ambient environments,which shows great promise in their widespread applications.

background: The treatment of brain metastases with radiotherapy has shifted to the use of Stereotactic Radio-surgery (SRS). The technical issue of expanding the treatment volume around the Gross Tumor Volume (GTV) is a current debate. Radiotherapy centers use variable GTV-PTV margins, ranging from one to 2 mm. material and methods: We performed a dosimetric comparison in plans of twenty patients using three margins: PTV zero, PTV1, and PTV2. We also developed imaginary Peel volumes. These volumes are described as follows: Peel1 = PTV1 − GTV, Peel2 = PTV2 − GTV. Results: Our results showed that the mean PTV volume differed significantly across the different margins (p = 0.000). The V12 of the brain significantly varied as a function of PTV margin (p = 0.000). The target coverage and plan quality indices were not significantly different. The Peel volume dosimetric analysis showed that the mean dose was significantly higher in the nearby normal brain tissue: Peel1 (p = 0.022) and Peel 2 (p = 0.013). Conclusion: According to our dosimetric analysis, expanding the GTV into a PTV by 1 mm margin is more convenient than 2 mm.

Engineering of efficient visible light photocatalysts:Ti_(1-x+y)Cu_(x)La_(y)O_(2)(x=0.03;y=0,0.005,0.01) compositions

In dye-photocatalysis, widening the wavelengths absorption range of catalysts as well as aborting the recombination of the photoexcited charge carriers(electrons-holes pairs) are of paramount *** the current study, we report the photocatalytic characteristics of four compositions composed of TiO_(2),Ti_(0.97)Cu_(0.03)O_(2), Ti_(0.965)Cu_(0.03)La_(0.005)O_(2)and Ti_(0.96)Cu_(0.03)La_(0.01)O_(2)powders for two harmful dyes(Congo red and methylene blue). The X-ray diffraction technique verified the configuration of mixed anatase and rutile phases in pure TiO_(2)and Ti_(0.97)Cu_(0.03)O_(2)powders while Ti_(0.965)Cu_(0.03)La_(0.005)O_(2)and Ti_(0.96)Cu_(0.03)La_(0.01)O_(2)powders possess anatase phase only. The changes of the band gap structure and dimensions of the unit cell volume of TiO_(2)confirm the substitution of Ti^(4+)sites by Cu^(2+)and La^(3+)ions. Remarkable widening of wavelengths absorption with formation of long absorption tails were found in TiO_(2)(3.13 e V) through insertion of La^(3+)plus Cu^(2+)ions. Ti_(0.965)Cu_(0.03)La_(0.005)O_(2)and Ti_(0.96)Cu_(0.03)La_(0.01)O_(2)samples exhibit a visible light band gap of 2.3 and 2.7 e V, respectively. based on SEm images, incorporation of Cu^(2+)and La^(3+)ions influences the surface morphology of TiO_(2). The resulting Ti_(0.97)Cu_(0.03)O_(2), Ti_(0.965)Cu_(0.03)La_(0.005)O_(2)and Ti_(0.96)Cu_(0.03)La_(0.01)O_(2)powders present enhanced photocatalytic activity towards Congo red dye degradation compared to pure one under natural solar spectrum. The best Ti_(0.96)Cu_(0.03)La_(0.01)O_(2)catalyst exhibits superior photocatalytic activity of 96% for 10 ppm CR dye in 20 min as well as above average photocatalytic efficiency of 63% for 30 ppm CR dye in 120 min. As well, it showed acceptable photodegradation activity of 52% for 30 ppm mB solution in 140 min of sunlight irradiation. 我国致密油气储层勘探前景广阔,开采价值高,但其储层岩石具有低孔、低渗、强非均质性等特征,建立储层波响应与岩石物性参数之间的联系仍面临挑战,针对致密储层波响应规律的研究有待深入开展。孔隙流体性质及围压会影响岩石的剪切模量及横波衰减,本文对部分饱和的8块致密岩石在不同围压条件下开展了超声波实验观测,采用谱比法估算岩石的横波衰减。结果显示,横波衰减随围压上升而下降,且饱水岩石的横波衰减大于饱油,饱气状态衰减最弱。气、水部分饱和岩石的测量结果中,岩石样本的横波衰减在中间含水饱和度达到峰值,此外,横波衰减随孔隙度、渗透率上升均有增大的趋势。基于实验测量的岩石物性参数,结合Voigt-Reuss-Hill(VRH)平均、微分等效介质模型和喷射流模型构建了致密岩石衰减模型,分析了不同围压条件下含流体岩石的衰减特征,结果显示,该模型可合理描述横波衰减特征。在完全饱和与部分饱和条件下,模型预测的横波衰减显示出明显的压力及流体敏感性。以样本TS1-19为例,在完全饱和、变围压条件下,模型预测的横波衰减峰值在11.6~69.5范围内,衰减峰值随着围压增大而降低,且峰值频率有向高频端移动的趋势。在部分饱和、围压30mPa条件下,模型预测的横波衰减峰值在15.5~39.8范围内,衰减峰值随着含水饱和度增大而增大,且峰值频率向低频端移动。对于所有样本,以30mPa围压为例,所预测的横波衰减在5.6~38.6范围内,其中在饱和条件下,模型预测横波衰减随着孔隙度增大而增大,随着围压增大而减小;在气水部分饱和条件下,随着含水饱和度的增大,基于模型及Voigt和Reuss边界法预测的横波衰减整体呈增大的趋势,而实验观测到的横波衰减在中间饱和度达到极大值。

modelling the hydrological balance in semi-arid zones is essential for effective water resource management,encompassing both surface water and *** study aims to model the monthly hydrological water cycle in the Wadi mina upstream watershed(northwest Algeria)by applying the Soil and Water Assessment Tool(SWAT)hydrological *** modelling integrates spatial data such as the Digital elevation model(DEm),land use,soil types and various meteorological parameters including precipitation,maximum and minimum temperatures,relative humidity,solar radiation and wind *** SWAT model was calibrated and validated using data from January 2012 to December 2014,with a calibra-tion period from January 2012 to August 2013 and a validation period from September 2013 to December *** and parameter calibration were conducted using the SWAT-SA program,and model performance evaluation relied on comparing the observed discharge at the outlet of the basin with model-simulated discharge,assessed through statistical coefficients including Nash-Sutcliffe Efficiency(NSE),coefficient of determination(R2)and Percent Bias(PbaIS).Calibration results indicated favourable objec-tive function values(NSE=0.79,R2=0.93,PbaIS=-8.53%),although a slight decrease was observed during validation(NSE=0.69,R2=0.86,and PbaIS=-11.41%).The application of the SWAT model to the Wadi mina upstream watershed highlighted its utility in simulating the spatial distribution of different components of the hydrological balance in this *** SWAT model revealed that approximately 71%of the precipitation in the basin evaporates,while only 29%contributes to surface runoff or infiltration into the soil.
