A perspective on molecular and cellular biology-based developmental toxicology biomarkers

The process of development is intricate and couple-dependent ***,the study of molecular and cellular biology-based developmental toxicology biomarkers increasingly is becoming an important part of risk assessment and management of chemicals for detection of health outcomes and/or biological endpoint like cytotoxicity,cell death,***,the evolution of developmental toxicology field a number of tools/markers have been developed or addressed to deal with developmental outcomes,which can ultimately be used for the development of adverse outcome pathways(AOPs)of developmental *** a result,this paper provides an overview of the current state of developmental toxicology biomarkers and describes the strategies used in the selection and evaluation of such biomarkers in the context of developmental toxicity ***,we discuss about the biological markers that are directly linked to developmental toxicity with respect to future revolutionary ***,this chapter will address different associated outcomes of developmental exposure by intriguing advance *** discussion focuses on the challenges associated with the development of biomarkers for developmental toxicity and highlights some of the recent advances in this ***,the chapter concludes with a brief discussion of the future prospects for the use of molecular and cellular biology-based developmental toxicity *** the present state of the art will provide a succinct summary of recent developments of biomarkers of developmental toxicology.

Present study deals with the effects of glyphosate-based herbicide,Excel Mera 71 on Anabas testudineus,Heteropnestes fossilis and Oreochromis niloticus in field conditions(1.85 kg/ha)based on anti-oxidative,metabolic and digestive *** this study following biomarkers viz.,acetylcholinesterase(AChE),lipid peroxidation(LPO),catalase(CAT),glutathione-S-transferase(GST),alkaline phosphatase(ALP),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),alanine aminotransferase(ALT),amylase,lipase and protease were investigated in gill,stomach,intestine,liver,kidney,brain,muscle and spinal cord of the concerned fish *** activities were significantly altered by glyphosate exposure after 30 days,these activities were tissue as well as species *** results suggested that these biomarkers could be used to assess the ecological risks of glyphosate on *** factor(BAF)studied in different aquatic natural macrophytes showed order of Alternanthera philoxeroides>Azolla pinnata>Lemna sp.(Minor)>Lemna sp.(Major)>Pistia stratiotes,while transfer factor(TF)showed the order of Pistia stratiotes>Alternanthera philoxeroides>Lemna *** factor(BCF)study showed maximum accumulation of glyphosate in liver,kidney or intestine,and minimum either in bone or stomach irrespective of fish *** integrated biomarker response(IBR),which uses a battery of biomarkers to calculate the standardized scores for each biomarker responses ranging from physiological to biochemical/molecular responses,was evaluated by combining the multiple biomarkers into a single value to evaluate quantitatively the toxicological effects of *** general,the multiple indices exhibited variations and *** was more affected than other fish species;maximum IBR value was observed for LPO and minimum in case of *** order of integrated biomarkers caused by glyphosate treatment was recorded as follows:LPO>Amylase>CAT>AST>Protease>Lipase>ALP>GST>AChE>ALT for ***,LP

Present work compared the toxicological responses of ***(Bloch)to anthracene exposure after treatment with two concentrations i.e.,25%(0.0075 mg/l)and 50%(0.015 mg/l)of LC50 value(0.030 mg/l)for different exposure periods of 1,5,10,15 and 21 day(s).An intensive comparison of the effects was made based on haematological and biochemical parameters of *** responses revealed significant increase in some blood parameters,viz.,WBC,%LYM,MCV,MCH and MCHC but RBC,Hb,PCV and PLT showed decreasing *** responses like CHOLES,PRO,ALB,Trig showed enhanced pattern in the initial exposure of day one then reduced gradually but GLU,GPT,Ca,ALP,HDL,and LDL showed reverse ***,integrated biomarker responses(IBR)indicated that the biochemical parameters are more useful in determining the anthracene stress on fish health than the haematological *** findings of this study suggested that the IBR analysis is a useful tool in monitoring quantitative(dose-specific)as well as qualitative(exposure-specific)responses to toxicological effects of anthracene exposure on fish health.

Present work evaluated the possible impact of choline on metabolic enzymes of cultured fish species into a semi-intensive pond culture system,reared with Catla catla(catla),Labeo rohita(rahu),Clarias batracus(magur)and Anabas testudineus(climbing perch)for 90 days in two *** was added directly into the pond water periodically throughout the experimental *** water quality parameters of each experimental pond were monitored and were analyzed in 15 days interval throughout the experimental tenure in both the *** were compared with treatment as choline-fed and control as non-choline-fed conditions during breeding(June-Aug.)and dry(Nov.-Jan.)*** metabolic enzymes,viz.,LDH(Lactate dehydrogenase),MDH(Malate dehydrogenase),and G6PDH(Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase)activities in the muscle,liver,and AchE(Acetylcholine esterase)activity in the brain and muscle revealed maximum significantly(p<0.01),but ALT(Alanine aminotransferase)and AST(Aspartate aminotransferase)activity showed significant(p<0.01)depletion in the muscle and liver in treatment-breeding(TB)*** fishes under treatment-dry(TD)condition presented significant(p<0.01)higher elevation in HK(Hexokinase)activity in the muscle and ***,the result of principal component analysis(PCA)depicted the positive as well as in some cases a negative correlation among the enzymatic activities both in dry and breeding ***,it can be inferred that choline enrichment in fishes can substantiate the well nutritionally balanced food-flesh for consumption under this farm culture and the choline behaved as a positive contaminant into the pond eco-system under the semi-intensive culture condition.

Few-shot learning for screening 2D Ga2CoS4-x supported single-atom catalysts for hydrogen production

Hydrogen generation and related energy applications heavily rely on the hydrogen evolution reaction（HER）,which faces challenges of slow kinetics and high *** electrocatalysts,particularly single-atom catalysts （SACs） on two-dimensional （2D） materials,are *** study presents a few-shot machine learning （ML） assisted high-throughput screening of 2D septuple-atomic-layer Ga2CoS4-xsupported SACs to predict HER catalytic ***,density functional theory （DFT）calculations showed that 2D Ga2CoS4is inactive for ***,defective Ga2CoS4-x（x=0–0.25）monolayers exhibit excellent HER activity due to surface sulfur vacancies （SVs）,with predicted overpotentials （0–60 mV） comparable to or lower than commercial Pt/C,which typically exhibits an overpotential of around 50 m V in the acidic electrolyte,when the concentration of surface SV is lower than 8.3%.SVs generate spin-polarized states near the Fermi level,making them effective HER *** demonstrate ML-accelerated HER overpotential predictions for all transition metal SACs on 2D *** DFT data from 18 SACs,an ML model with high prediction accuracy and reduced computation time was *** intrinsic descriptor linking SAC atomic properties to HER overpotential was *** study thus provides a framework for screening SACs on 2D materials,enhancing catalyst design.

Effect of a less permeable stronger soil layer on the stability of non-homogeneous unsaturated slopes

Slope failure occurs due to an increase in the saturation level and a subsequent decrease in matric suction in unsaturated *** paper presents the results of a series of centrifuge experiments and numerical analyses on a 55°inclined unsaturated sandy slope with less permeable,stronger silty sand layer inclusion within *** is observed that a less permeable,stronger silty sand layer in an otherwise homogeneous sandy soil slope hinders the infiltration of *** water content of the slope just above the stronger layer increases significantly,compared to *** shear band is found to initiate in a homogeneous sandy soil slope,whereas for a non-homogeneous slope,they initiate just above the less pervious,stronger layer.A discontinuity of the shear zone is also observed for the case of a non-homogeneous soil *** factor of safety of a non-homogeneous,unsaturated soil slope decreases because of the less permeable,stronger *** decreases significantly if this less permeable,stronger soil layer is located near the toe of the slope.

Chemical Reduction of CO_2 to Different Products during Photo Catalytic Reaction on TiO_2 under Diverse Conditions:an Overview

The chemical reduction of CO2 remains a challenge with respect to the reversal of the oxidative degradation of any organic materials. The conversion of CO2 into useful substances is essential in developing alternative fuels and various raw materials for different industries. This also aids in preventing the continuous rise in tropospheric temperature due to the green house effect of CO2. In this article an overview of the growth taken place so far in the field of CO2 chemical reduction is pre- sented. The discussion comprises of photochemical methods for the development of different products, viz. CO, CH3OH and CH4, through chemical reduction of CO2. This includes the use of photo catalysts, mainly TiO2, and the role of a hole scavenger （such as 2-propanol） for this purpose.

Performance study and kinetic modeling of hybrid bioreactor for treatment of bi-substrate mixture of phenol-m-cresol in wastewater:Process optimization with response surface methodology

Performance of a hybrid reactor comprising of trickling filter （TF） and aeration tank （AT） unit was studied for biological treatment of wastewater containing mixture of phenol and m-cresol, using mixed microbial culture. The reactor was operated with hydraulic loading rates （HLR） and phenolics loading rates （PLR） between 0.222-1.078 m3/（m2-day） and 0.900-3.456 kg/（***）, respectively. The efficiency of substrate removal varied between 71%-100% for the range of HLR and PLR studied. The fixed film unit showed better substrate removal efficiency than the aeration tank and was more resistant to substrate inhibition. The kinetic parameters related to both units of the reactor were evaluated and their variation with HLR and PLR were monitored. It revealed the presence of substrate inhibition at high PLR both in TF and AT unit. The biofilm model established the substrate concentration profile within the film by solving differential equation of substrate mass transfer using boundary problem solver tool ＇bvp4c＇ of MATLAB 7. 1 software. Response surface methodology was used to design and optimize the biodegradation process using Design Expert 8 software, where phenol and m-cresol concentrations, residence time were chosen as input variables and percentage of removal was the response. The design of experiment showed that a quadratic model could be fitted best for the present experimental study. Significant interaction of the residence time with the substrate concentrations was observed. The optimized condition for operating the reactor as predicted by the model was 230 mg/L of phenol, 190 mg/L of m-cresol with residence time of 24.82 hr to achieve 99.92% substrate removal.

Accumulation of Polyphenolic Compounds and Osmolytes under Dehydration Stress and Their Implication in Redox Regulation in Four Indigenous Aromatic Rice Cultivars

Present work was undertaken to screen some drought tolerant indigenous aromatic rice cultivars(IARCs),commonly cultivated in West Bengal,India,based on their capacity to produce osmolytes,redox-sensitive phenolic acids and flavonoids,as contrivances for redox-regulation under drought *** glycol induced post imbibitional dehydration stress mediated changes in redox regulatory properties of the germinating seeds of the four IARCs(Jamainadu,Tulaipanji,Sitabhog,Badshabhog),which were assessed in terms of changes in prooxidant accumulation(in-situ localization of reactive oxygen species(ROS)by confocal microscopy,DCFDA(2′,7′-dichlorofluorescin diacetate)oxidation,O2-and H2O2 accumulation),cumulative antioxidative defense(radical scavenging property and total thiol content),ROS scavenging phenolic acids(gallic acid,protocatechuic acid,gentisic acid,para-hydroxy benzoic acid,chlorogenic acid,caffeic acid,syringic acid,salicylic acid,sinapic acid and p-coumaric acid)and flavonoids(catechin,naringin,rutin,quercetin,kaempferol,myricetin and apigenin).The capability of germinating seeds to accumulate osmolytes(like glycinebetaine,proline,soluble carbohydrates and K+ion)and polyphenolic compounds was also correlated with their corresponding redox status and redox biomarkers(conjugated diene,hydroperoxide,thiobarbituric acid reactive substances and free carbonyl content)produced under the same *** results in general showed that accumulation of osmolytes along with the redox-sensitive phenolics and flavonoids conferred the ability to maintain the redox homeostasis under drought stress for the tolerant IARCs(Badshabhog and Tulaipanji).

Statistical Inference of Exponentiated Moment Exponential Distribution Based on Lower Record Values

Based on lower record values,we first derive the exact explicit expressions as well as recurrence relations for the single and product moments of record values and then use these results to compute the means,variances and coefficient of skewness and kurtosis of exponentiated moment exponential distribution(EMED),a new extension of moment exponential distribution,recently introduced by Hasnain(Exponentiated moment exponential ***,2013).Next we obtain the maximum likelihood estimators of the unknown parameters and the approximate confidence intervals of the ***,we consider Bayes estimation under the symmetric and asymmetric loss functions using gamma priors for both shape and scale *** have also derived the Bayes interval of this distribution and discussed both frequentist and the Bayesian prediction intervals of the future record values based on the observed record *** Carlo simulations are performed to compare the performances of the proposed methods,and a data set has been analyzed for illustrative purposes.
