The use of the optoelectronic properties of noble metal nanoparticles has given a new dimension to the realm of cancer diagnosis and therapy(theranostics).The multifunctional catalytic properties and surface plasmon resonance of noble metal nanoparticles(NPs)along with their facile surface chemistry gives them an edge in the field of biology,including for immunotherapeutic *** a previous study,we reported the anticancer efficacy of silver NPs coated with murine serum albumin against fibrosarcoma in an in vivo mouse model,highlighting their role in eliciting oxystress and immune *** addition to addressing the bioavailability and toxicity parameters,our study reported that there was a significant reduction in the size,as well as a delay in the incidence of tumors with AgNP-MSA *** electron micrographs revealed AgNP-MSA uptake by sentinel immune cells associated with the tumor along with the downregulation of pro-tumorigenic inflammatory cytokines,such as TNF-α,IL-6 and IL-1β.

Ever since its introduction in the second decade of the past century, the economic order quantity (EOQ) model has been the subject of extensive investigations and extensions by academicians. The physical characteristics of stocked items dictate the nature of inventory policies implemented to manage and control. The question is how reliable are the EOQ models when items stocked deteriorate one time. This paper introduces a modified EOQ model in which it assumes that a percentage of the on-hand inventory is wasted due to deterioration. There is hidden cost not account for when modeling inventory cost. We study the problem of promotion for a deteriorating item subject to loss of these deteriorated units. The objective of this paper is to determine the optimal time length, optimal units lost due to deterioration, the promotional effort and the replenishment quantity so that the net profit is maximized and the numerical analysis show that an appropriate promotion policy can benefit the retailer and that promotion policy is important, especially for deteriorating items. Furthermore crisp decision making is shown to be superior to crisp decision making without promotional effort cost in terms of profit maximization.

The concept of Multidisciplinary approach is not new to Medical Science. It is an evolving concept that is widely appreciated and adopted in most of the disciplines of medicine. It’s rational and applicable in the management of Child and Adolescent Depression,which needs to be revisited focusing on the interplay of various contextual factors that are entwined and tend to affect the course of the illness. The limitations of any one mental health professional in envisioning all possible dimensions of Child and Adolescent Depression make this approach all the more important wherein Psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists, Psychiatric Social Workers collaborate with each other and other allied professionals in the treatment and management of the disorder. India, being a heavily populated country, where multidisciplinary management approach is in a phase of expansion and is practiced in many leading institutes to meet the quality needs of patients. This article focuses on the Indian scene of multidisciplinary management approach in child and adolescent depression.

The effect of tetra ethyl ammonium bromide （TEAB） as an additive on the structural, morphological characteristics of the cobalt metal produced from aqueous sulphate solutions was investigated. The concentration of TEAB was varied in a range of 1-50 mg/L to evaluate its effect on current efficiency, energy consumption and quality of electrodeposited cobalt metal. Smooth and bright deposits of cobalt were obtained at low concentration of TEAB （10 mg/L） maintaining a current efficiency of 99.6%, with a low energy consumption of 2.38 kW＇h/kg. X-ray diffraction studies reveal that （100） plane is the most preferred plane of crystal growth during cobalt electrodeposition. Scanning electron micrographs indicate that smooth and uniform deposit of cobalt is obtained at 10 mg/L beyond which the deposit quality deteriorates. Cyclic voltammetric studies indicate that the presence of TEAB in the electrolytic bath polarizes the cathode and decreases the cathodic current considerably. XPS results confirm the electrodeposition of high pure cobalt with no sign of chemical bonding with TEAB as evident from the FTIR spectra.

The antioxidative,antimicrobial,and anti-inflammatory properties of fermented sheep milk with *** (KGL4),as well as the generation of antioxidative and antimicrobial peptides,are evaluated in the *** and antibacterial activities in sheep milk fermented with KGL4 increased with incubation hours,along with varied antioxidative properties (ABTS assay:35.12%,hydroxyl free radical scavenging assay:29.12%,superoxide free radical scavenging activity:36.38%).Antimicrobial activity of fermented sheep milk against *** (19 mm),*** (15.67 mm),*** (14 mm),and *** (13 mm) was also ***,after 48 h,the KGL4 showed maximum proteolysis (10.40 mg/ml) at 2.5% rate of addition sheep *** antioxidative and antimicrobial activities of fermented sheep milk fractions (3 kDa and 10 kDa permeates and retentates) were also *** highest ABTS activity (26.90%) was found in 10 kDa permeate,whereas the 3 kDa retentate had higher hydroxyl free radical scavenging activity (69.20%) and 3 kDa permeate showed maximum superoxide free radical scavenging activity (32.85%).The 10 kDa retentate had shown maximum antimicrobial activity against *** (13.67 mm) and *** (17.00 mm).Proteins spotted on 2D gel electrophoresis of KGL4 were varied from 10 to 70 ***-LC/MS was used to identify 5 novel peptide sequences from 2-D gel *** in the BIOPEP database confirmed the antioxidative and antimicrobial effects of the novel fermented sheep milk *** sheep milk with KGL4 (SMKGL4) significantly reduced excessive TNF-α,IL-6,& IL-1β production in LPS-activated RAW 264.7 cells.

Role of C-Peptide in Relation to Levels of Anti-GAD and Islet Cell Antibodies in Characterizing Types of Diabetes in the Young, in Eastern India

Background: Measuring fasting C-peptide (FCP) and antibodies against Glutamic acid decarboxylase (GADA) and Islet cell antibodies (ICA) are not so commonly explored in children and young adults. Objectives: To assess the levels of FCP, GADA and ICA in subjects below the age of 25 years with DM and compare their levels to differentiate between Autoimmune and Non-Autoimmune Type 1 DM. Methodology: Blood samples of 93 subjects diagnosed with DM, reporting to the tertiary care hospital, were analysed for ICA, GADA and FCP. Receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curves were analysed to check the ability of autoimmune markers, BMI and C-peptide to differentiate between Autoimmune (Ai) and Non-Autoimmune (NonAi) diabetes. Results: 30/93 (32.2%) were positive for anti-GAD ab and/or ICA and categorised as Autoimmune (Ai), the most common antibody being, anti-GAD ab (80%) in them. The level of FCP among Ai compared to NonAi, was significantly low (p 20.75 nmol/l) as a very dependable test for diagnosing Ai, Type 1 DM, in children and young adults. Its sensitivity and specificity are in the range of 86.2% and 96.8% respectively. Low level of C-peptide (Conclusion: This study revealed predominant positivity for anti-GAD ab (80%) among Ai+ patients. ROC analysis shows GADA above 20.75 nmol/l and Fasting C-peptide < 0.36 nmol/l as a good indicator for diagnosing Ai in children and young adults.

Comparison of phenotypic markers and neural differentiation potential of multipotent adult progenitor cells and mesenchymal stem cells

AIM: To compare the phenotypic and neural differentiation potential of human bone marrow derived multipotent adult progenitor cells (MAPC) and mesenchymal stem cells (MSC). METHODS: Cultures of MAPC and MSC were established in parallel from same samples of human bone marrow (n = 5). Both stem cell types were evaluated for expression of pluripotency markers including Oct-4 and Nanog by immunocytochemistry and reversetranscription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and expression of standard mesenchymal markers including CD14, CD34, CD44, CD45, CD73, CD90, CD105 andhuman leukocyte antigen (HLA)-ABC by flow cytometry. After treatment with neural induction medium both MAPC and MSC were evaluated for expression of neural proteins [neuronal filament-200 (NF-200) and glial fibrillar acidic protein (GFAP)] by immunocytochemistry and Western blotting and neural genes [NF-200, GFAP, Tau, microtubule-associated protein (MAP)-1B, MAP-2, neuron-specific enolase (NSE) and oligodendrocyte-1 (Olig-1)] by quantitative real-time-PCR. RESULTS: MAPC had small trigonal shaped while MSC had elongated spindle-shaped morphology. The MAPC expressed Oct-4 and Nanog both at gene and protein levels, whereas MSC were negative for these pluripotent markers. MAPC were negative for HLA-ABC while MSC had high expression of HLA-ABC. In addition, MAPC as compared to MSC had significantly lower expression of CD44 (36.56% ± 1.92% vs 98.23% ± 0.51%), CD73 (15.11% ± 2.24% vs 98.53% ± 2.22%) and CD105 (13.81% ± 3.82%vs 95.12% ± 5.65%) (P < 0.001, for all) MAPC cultures compared to MSC cultures treated with neural induction medium had significantly higher fold change expression of NF-200 (0.64), GFAP (0.52), Tau (0.59), MAP-2 (0.72), Olig-1 (0.18) and NSE (0.29) proteins (P < 0.01 for Olig-1 and P < 0.001 for rest) as well as higher fold change expression of genes of NF-200 (1.34),GFAP (1.12),Tau (1.08),MAP-1B (0.92), MAP-2 (1.14) andNSE (0.4) (P < 0.001 for all). Recovery of Chromite Values from Plant Tailings by Gravity Concentration

Large tonnages of chromite tailing were discarded during processing of chromite ore in the conventional circuit. A typical chromite plant tailing was treated in wilfley table for the recovery of chromite values. Optimisation study was carried out for the process parameters of wilfley table using empirical models, developed from the experimental data. It was found that grade and recovery (% Cr2O3) in the concentrate fraction majorly depended on the variation of deck tilt angle. To achieve high grade (>45%) with acceptable recovery (>40%), set of optimisation condition of parameters have derived which resulted large quantity of wash water (>5lpm of flow rate) is necessary. Validation of the empirical models were done with set of tests which resulted good agreement with the predict values (R2 is 0.96 and 0.99 for the grade and recovery respectively).

Design of a Concentration Sensor Based on Photonic Crystal Fiber Placed between Two Single Mode Fibers

We demonstrate the use of photonic crystal fiber (PCF) joined in between two single mode fibers (SMF) as a concentration sensor. To realize this, one micrometer length PCF of hexagonal lattice is sandwiched between two SMF having one micrometer length each. To maximize the coupling between SMF and PCF, the core diameters are made equal. Then the output from a given input through this structure is analyzed with respect to different concentrations in the air holes of PCF using Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method. It is found that the variation of electric field intensity at the output is linear with respect to concentration of alcohol.
