Background:Evaluation of advanced fibrosis in patients with hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is used to facilitate decisions on treatment strategy and to initiate additional screening ***,most studies have predominately Caucasian (Cau) patients and may not be as relevant for African Americans (AA).Aims:This study specifically addresses the issue of defining minimal *** fibrosis in African Americans (AA) with chronic hepatitis C (CHC) using noninvasive ***:All patients (n =319) seen between 1 January 2008 and 30 June 2013 for whom a FibroSpect II(R) (FSII) assay was performed and had data for calculation of aspartate aminotransferase (AST)platelet ratio index (APRI) and Fibrosis-4 (FIB-4) were identified using the medical ***:When liver biopsy score and FSII assay results for the AA patients with CHC were compared,31% of AA had advanced FSII fibrosis scores (F2-F4) despite a biopsy score of *** contrast,10% of Cau *** AA false positive rate was 14% for APRI and 34% for *** FSII with either APRI (7% false positive) or FIB-4 (10% false positive) improved the false positive rate in AA to 7% (FSII + APRI) and 10%(FSII + FIB-4) but reduced the sensitivity for significant ***:The FSII assay overestimates fibrosis in AA and should be used with caution since these patients may not have significant *** the APRI or FIB-4 assay is combined with the FSII assay,minimal fibrosis in AA can be defined without subjecting the patients to a subsequent biopsy.

This paper proposes a control strategy for interface of distributed energy sources into the weak grid system with a focus on the energy and ancillary services.A novel controller has been designed and implemented to tackle the challenges of coupling terms in the LCL filter,the transient behavior under sudden changes,and the voltage support under fault condition using the feedback linearization *** controller proposed has been implemented on the PV system connected with the weak grid using the LCL filter and the performance of the controller has been verified using Matlab/Simulink through simulation under different *** results of the controller proposed have been compared with the conventional PI dual loop *** simulation results obtained demonstrate the effectiveness and simplicity of the controller design strategy.

Whiteflies(Bemisia tabaci)are polyphagous invasive hemipteran insects that cause serious losses of important crops by directly feeding on phloem sap and transmitting pathogenic *** insects have emerged as a major threat to global agriculture and food *** synthesized insecticides are currently the only option to control whiteflies,but the ability of whiteflies to evolve resistance against insecticides has made the management of these insects very *** host-plant resistance against whiteflies identified in some crop plants has not been exploited to a great *** engineering approaches,such as transgenics and RNA interference(RNAi),are potentially useful for the control of *** plants harboring insecticidal toxins/lectins developed via nuclear or chloroplast transformation are a promising vehicle for whitefly ***-stranded RNAs(dsRNAs)of several insect genes,delivered either through microinjection into the insect body cavity or orally via an artificial diet and transiently or stably expressed in transgenic plants,have controlled whiteflies in model plants and in some crops at the laboratory level,but not at the field *** this review,we highlight the merits and demerits of each delivery method along with strategies for sustained delivery of dsRNAs via fungal entomopathogen/endosymbiont or nontransgenic RNAi approaches,foliar sprays,root absorption or nanocarriers as well as the factors affecting efficient RNAi and their biosafety *** sequencing and transcriptome studies of whitefly species are facilitating the selection of appropriate genes for RNAi and gene-editing technology for the efficient and resilient management of whiteflies and their transmitted viruses.

Wrestling as an Olympic sport has been around since the dawn of modem Olympic games and India is a participating nation in it. Wrestling has unique position among Olympic disciplines in India, from being provider of first individual medal to newly independent nation to lately becoming most significant contributor in medal tally. This coming of age of Indian wrestling team with double medal tally in the last Olympics has been outcome of long and steady journey of Indian wrestling team over a period of 40-50 years and numerous Summer Olympic Games. However, this journey of Indian wrestling team in the Olympics is also a stoW of significant twist and turn, near misses and also of glow. So this article covers the entire saga of Indian wrestlers at highest sporting event of world--Olympic Games, from inception of first Indian team of mere three grapplers to latest Olympics with debut of first Indian female grappler in Olympic arena. This history is written by sweat and hard work of Indian grapplers with its own highs and lows.

As a result of vast global improvement of health care and living conditions, the world population is aging. In developed countries, more than half of the cancers occur in patients aged 70 and older. In booming Asian nations, such as India, the aging trend is particularly striking, and therefore geriatric oncology is rapidly coming at the foreground of oncology practice. As these patients have special needs and a different approach to treatment, there is a strong need for the emergence of geriatric oncology as a sub specialty in oncology. Scientific data show that a geriatric assessment identifies many problems in older people with cancer, adds prognostic information, and might improve the outcomes of these patients. There is a genuine unmet requirement to design and implement the following: development of individually tailored geriatric assessment tools for different oncology centers;cooperation of aging and cancer research in the understanding of cancer biology, aging and physiology;improved clinical study designs;development of geriatric oncology programs;and screening tools for geriatric patients made accessible to family physicians.

Many factors can modify nutritional status in cancer patients, including cachexia, nausea and vomiting, decreased caloric intake or oncologic treatments causing malabsorption. The cachexia-anorexia syndrome is a complex metabolic syndrome associated with cancer and some other palliative conditions characterized by involuntary weight loss involving fat and muscle, anorexia, early satiety, fatigue and weakness due to shifts in metabolism caused by tumour by-products and cytokines. Cachexia is a distressing and debilitating condition, affecting significant numbers of patients with advanced disease and is the primary cause of death in about 20% of all patients with cancer. Though cachexia is most commonly associated with particular tumours, such as head and neck, gastrointestinal tract, pancreas, central nervous system and lung, it may affect any patient with any tumour at any site;no patient and no tumour are excluded. Current treatment for principally depends on its prevention rather than reversing the present disease state, and the clinical results are far from being satisfactory. A careful decision based on good clinical judgement is necessary before deciding to start either enteral or parenteral nutrition, to avoid a useless, costly and difficult treatment. Treatment should be directed toward improvement in the quality of life of the patient and should often include nutritional counseling. It should take into consideration both disease and treatment related factors as well as the cachexia syndrome itself.
