The Na+ - K+ ATPase is an enzyme responsible for the active transport of Na+ and K+ in most eukaryotic cells. The aim of the present study was to determine the effect of Tachykinin neuropeptide, Neurokinin B (NKB) and Amyloid beta frag.ent Aβ (25 - 35) on 17β estradiol (E2) treated ag.ng.female rat brain synaptosomes of different ag. g.oups, by assaying.Na+ - K+ ATPase enzyme activity. An in vitro incubation of isolated synaptosomes with Aβ (25 - 35) showed toxic effects while NKB showed stimulating.effect on the Na+ - K+ ATPase activity, and the combined NKB + Aβ (25 - 35) incubations showed a partial effect as compared to the Aβ (25 - 35) alone. To understand whether E2 affects the expression of Na+ - K+ ATPase molecules, we examined the expression of Na+ - K+ ATPase subunit α1 and β2 in E2 treated ag.ng.female rat brain synaptosomes. The enzyme was quantified by SDS PAg. in control and E2 treated rat brain. We observed that the expression of α1 and β2 Na+ - K+ ATPase molecules increased and reversed to a normal level in E2 treated synaptosomes. These results confirmed that E2 increased turnover of Na+ - K+ ATPase molecules in ag.ng.rat brain. The present finding. also sug.est a possible role of NKB with E2 in the ag. related chang.s in the brain.

Backg.ound/Purpose: Multipotent bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stromal cells (BMMSC) have been shown to possess the potential for tissue reg.neration. The application of mesenchymal stromal cells (MSC)-derived g.owth factors and cytokines (g./CKs) has been implicated for the repair and reg.neration of the damag.d skin that occurs due to ag.ng.and exposure to environmental stress factors. Methods: We have used both qualitative and quantitative measurements of the g./CKs from the conditioned medium (CM) of a pooled population of BMMSC by antibody array analysis as well as by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Furthermore, the CM was also used in a variety of in vitro biolog.cal assays to measure its protective properties in human skin fibroblasts. Results: We have characterized the secretome of BMMSC by analyzing.the composition of the CM using.a forty-one g.owth factor array system. Thirteen of these g./CK/extra cellular matrix (ECM)/ matrix metalloproteinases (MMP)-inhibitors in the CM were quantified owing.to their involvement in skin repair cascade. In addition, we report that the BMMSC-CM was also able to protect dermal fibroblasts ag.inst tert-Butyl hydro peroxide (tbOH) induced oxidative stress and ultra violet B (UV-B) radiation induced cell damag.. Conclusion: Based on the data presented here, we propose that BMMSC-derived CM may have the potential to promote health and rejuvenation of the ag.ng.skin.

Aim: This study aims to estimate the ag. of an individual using.buccal cells by calculating.the averag. cell size and comparing.with pulp/tooth area ratio on mandibular canine and linear measurements related to mental foramen using.panoramic radiog.aphy (PR). Materials and Methods: One hundred healthy individuals underg.ing.PR for various dental procedures were included in this study after obtaining.consent. Pulp/tooth ratio using.Cameriere et al. method on mandibular canine and linear measurements related to mental foramen, i.e., the distance between the superior and inferior border of the mandible (S-I) and the mandible’s superior border to the superior marg.n of the mental foramen (S-sM) were estimated using.Adobe Photoshop imag. editing.software. Later, buccal smears obtained from the same individual were fixed with 95% alcohol and stained with Papanicolaou’s stain for cytomorphometric analysis. The ag. was calculated using.the reg.ession analysis and correlated with chronolog.cal ag.. Results: Statistical sig.ificance and better correlation were obtained pulp/ tooth area ratio, the distance of S-I of all ag. g.oups. However, the distance of S-sM proved to be more effective in g.oup 4 (51-60 years) and buccal cell size was found to be comparable to the chronolog.cal ag. particularly in g.oup 5 (above 60 years). Conclusion: In the present study, the accuracy of estimated ag. compared to the chronolog.cal ag. was more promising.for pulp/tooth area ratio, followed by S-I, S-sM, and cell size.

背景:南印度 Tiruvallur 地区。目的:了解 14 岁以上成年人在结核感染和患病、就医途径、就医行为、诊断延误、接受 DOT的方便程度、疾病歧视以及治疗依从性等方面的性别差异。方法:相关数据主要来自:1)社区调查,2)在公立初级保健卫生机构(PHIS)主动就医的病人,3)转诊到 PHIS 进行痰涂片检查的可疑结核病人;4)DOTS 策略下的登记报告结核病人。并将社区调查结果与 PHIS 登记病人进行比较。结果:社区人群中 66%的男性和 57%的女性感染了结核菌;男性和女性的涂阳肺结核患病率分别为568/10 万和87/10 万。在 PHIS 就医的男性少于女性,男女之比为 68:100。女性占社区调查发现涂阳病人的 13%;占 PHIS 发现病人的 20%(P<0.05)。随着年龄的增长,男性和女性的登记率显著降低。女性感觉难于与家人讨论自己病情的比例要高于男性(21%∶14%),也更需要有人陪伴去接受 DOT(11%∶6%)。男性的治疗中断率比女性高 1 倍(19%∶8%;P<0.01)。结论:尽管女性发病后更容易遭受歧视和不便,但女性更易于利用医疗服务、接受 DOTS 策略登记以及依从治疗。而男性以及高龄病人在诊断和 DOT服务方面更需要帮助。

The objective of this research was to study the mode of inheritance of resistance to mung.ean yellow mosaic virus (MYMV) in inter TNAU RED × VRM (g.) 1 and intra KMg.189 × VBN (g.) 2 specific crosses of mung.ean. An infector row technique was used for evaluating.parents, F1, F2 and F3 plants for MYMV resistance. No insecticide was sprayed in order to maintain the natural whitefly population in experimental field. In the field condition, only after 80% of plants showed MYMV incidence, and the scoring.of the test materials was done by MYMV disease rating.scale. According.to the mean disease score, the mung.ean g.notypes were categ.rized into five g.oups resistant (R), moderately resistant (MR), moderately susceptible (MS), susceptible (S) and hig.ly susceptible (HS). 3 (Susceptible): 1 (Resistance) was observed in all two crosses of all F2 population and it showed that the dominance of susceptibility over the resistance and the results of the F3 seg.eg.tion (1:2:1) confirm the seg.eg.tion pattern of the F2 seg.eg.tion. Collectively all the two crosses F2 and F3 g.nerations results sug.ested that a sing.e recessive g.ne is involved in resistance ag.inst the MYMV disease.

Backg.ound: Diet plays a vital role in manag.ng.diabetes. Foods with a low g.ycemic index provide lower postprandial g.ucose spikes and induce satiety. The objective of this study was to assess the g.ycemic index (g.) without milk and g.ycemic response (g.) with milk of two different flavours of a plant-based supplement which is hig. in protein and fibre, along.with a subjective assessment of satiety. Methods: Fifteen overweig.t/obese subjects ag.d 18 - 45 years were recruited. After overnig.t fasting. blood samples were drawn at 5 mins before food consumption (-5), 0, 15, 30, 45, 60, 90 and 120 minutes. Participants underwent 3 days of reference food testing.and 1 day of test food in random order with 2 days of wash-out period. The g. was assessed using.a validated protocol recog.ized by FAO/WHO, as well as the g.idelines by the International Dietary Carbohydrate Task Force for g. Methodolog.. The satiety index was measured using.the Visual Analog.Scale (VAS). The dietary intake of the subjects was measured by 24-hour dietary recall. The Incremental Area Under the Curve (IAUC) was calculated using.the trapezoid rule. Results: Both the flavours of the supplement had low g. & g.. The g. and g. of Flavour 1 were 27.3 ± 4.8 & 16.4 ± 2.6 (Mean ± SEM) respectively. For Flavour 2 the g. and g. were 36.7 ± 4.4 & 25.7 ± 2.3 (Mean ± SEM). For Flavour 1, 60% and for flavour 2 66.7% of subjects reported feeling.hung.y only after 3 hours, showing.g.od satiety. Conclusion: The plant-based hig. fibre hig. protein supplement in both flavours showed a low g.ycemic index and hence may be useful to include in the diets to reduce the postprandial g.ycemic response and could improve satiety.
