Sm^(3+) ions incorporated Sm_(2)Si_(2)O_(7) crystalline phase formed in the aluminoborosilicate glass matrix synthesized via melting quenching technique followed by heat-treatment process is reported *** preliminary confirmation on the obtained glass ceramics was made through X-ray diffration(XRd) *** of non-bridging oxygens(NBOs) in the glass network and the modes of vibrations of network units we re analyzed through Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) *** morphology of heat-treated samples at varying temperatures was determined via a field emission scanning electron microscope(FESEM).The absorption studies on heat-treated samples signify the low bandgap values and high Urbach energy values due to improved crystallinity in the glass ***-Ofelt intensity parameters identified for visible absorption transitions follow the trend of Ω_(4)>Ω_(2)>Ω_(6).Excitation and emission studies on heat-treated samples show improvement in their intensities compared to the unheated base *** thermal quenching is observed at higher temperatures(540 and 580℃ for 3 h) of heat-treated *** based on luminescence spectra including radiative transition probability,stimulated emission cross-section and branching ratio show good results for glass ceramics prior to precursor *** lifetimes of Sm^(3+) ions(milliseconds) in the level ^(4)G_(5/2) are seen for glass *** coordinates suggest the reddish-orange emissions from prepared glass ***,Sm^(3+) doped Sm_(2)Si_(2)O_(7) glass ceramics are favorable materials for solid-state lighting and laser applications.

Glasses based on Sm3+ doped zinc fluoroborate were synthesized and characterized. Formations of glasses were investigated in the 30 ZnF2-20 TeO2-(50-x)B2O3-x Sm2O3 matrix. Fast quenching and adequate heat treatment are required to prevent melt crystallization and to diminish thermal stress, which result in an efficient amorphous material. The differential scanning calorimetry(dSC), scanning electron microscopy(SEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis(EdAX), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) were employed to record, calculate, measure and analyze the stability, density and refractive index of the glass samples with different concentrations of Sm3+ ranging between 0 to 2.5%(mass fraction). XPS result shows the values of core-level binding energy(Zn 3s, Sm 4d, Te 3d, B 1s, O 1s and F 1s) of(ZnF2-TeO2-B2O3-Sm2O3) glass matrix and indicates the good fusibility of the present glass samples. density of the glass samples increases as dopant concentration increases and glass transition temperature tg ranges between 395 °C and 420 °C.

The objective of the recently proposed fuzzy based hierarchical routing protocol F-SCH is to improve the lifetime of a Wireless Sensor Network. Though the performance of F-SCH is better than LEACH, the randomness in CH selection inhibits it from attaining enhanced lifetime. CBCH ensures maximum network lifetime when CH is close to the centroid of the cluster. However, for a widely distributed network, CBCH results in small sized clusters increasing the inter cluster communication cost. Hence, with an objective to enhance the network lifetime, a fuzzy based two-level hierarchical routing protocol is proposed. The novelty of the proposal lies in identification of appropriate parameters used in Cluster Head and Super Cluster Head selection. Experiments for different network scenarios are performed through both simulation and hardware to validate the proposal. The performance of the network is evaluated in terms of Node death. The proposal is compared with F-SCH and the results reveal the efficacy of the proposal in enhancing the lifetime of network.

Keeping in view of importance of exchange symmetry aspects in studies on spin squeezing of multiqubit states,we show that the one-dimensional Ising Hamiltonian with nearest neighbor interactions does not retain the exchange symmetry of initially symmetric multiqubit *** we show that among 4-qubit states obeying exchange symmetry,all states except W class(and their linear combination)lose their symmetry under time evolution with Ising *** the loss of symmetry of the initially symmetric states to rotational asymmetry of the one-dimensional Ising Hamiltonian with more than 3 qubits,we indicate that all N-qubit states(N>5)obeying permutation symmetry lose their symmetry after time evolution with Ising Hamiltonian.

In vivo haploid induction based on maternal haploid inducers is the first step in deriving completely homozygous maize doubled haploid(dH) lines. Haploid induction rate(HIR) is influenced by both pollen parent inducing haploidy and the maternal source germplasm used in induction crosses. This study was aimed at analyzing the influence of source germplasm on HIR using 671 tropical inbred lines organized in two association mapping panels. These two association mapping panels(AMP1 and AMP2) were crossed to two different Tropically Adapted Inducer Lines(TAILs). For HIR assessment, seeds from induction crosses were planted in the field and ploidy status of each surviving plant was assessed using a gold standard classification based on visual differences between the haploid and diploid plants. The analysis revealed significant variation for HIR and led to identification of several tropical inbred lines that respond very positively to haploid induction. Use of HIR data in a genome wide association study(GWAS) led to identification of twenty-seven and two SNPs that were significantly associated with HIR in AMP1 and AMP2,respectively. Meta-analysis of AMP1 and AMP2 GWAS led to identification of 52 SNPs with significant effect on HIR across both studies. Genome-wide prediction revealed moderate to high prediction accuracy within AMPs using random SNPs. Inclusion of the SNPs detected in GWAS into the prediction model led to improvement in prediction accuracy. Overall, the study revealed that the maternal influence on HIR is controlled by a few moderate and many small effect QTL.

Mining the data from the huge collection that are present in the database and uncovering the relationships between the item set are one of the key aspects of data mining technologies. Itinerary planning system with personalization in selecting the places to the users is one of the demanding features in most of the travel plan. In this work, the system is designed in such a way to provide the customized journey plan to the users and also the effective one to the back pack travelers. Here the Points of Interests are the places to visit in each destination for the number of days chosen by the travelers. In this system, the users are allowed to specify the desired POIs to visit for the selected destination and can make their customized travel plan effectively. This proposed system is designed to choose the customized places to visit and to plan travel for K-day itineraries. The most visited itineraries are saved and updated in the database. Association rules are used to find out the frequent places visited in each destination and to provide the reputed places to the users to plan the journey. Here the Weka tool is used to evaluate the performance of the algorithm and the rules that are generated for the given travel dataset. data set is designed by considering several attributes that can take part during travel such as source, destination, travel cost, budget, etc. Statistical analysis is done to evaluate the performance of the proposed system and the list of features that are present in the system. during the analysis part, registered users, number of logins, frequent visits, and attributes are analyzed. Thus the system can be redefined further with the help of this statistical analysis. It is mostly used at the organization end to evaluate their performance and improve the features. Aim: To prospectively evaluate the acute toxicity of 3d conformal radiotherapy with dose optimization in patients with carcinoma cervix. Materials and Methods: Carcinoma cervix patients stage IIB to IIIB (n = 30) treated during November 2011 to May 2013 at the institution with 3d conformal chemo-radiation were included in the study. They received weekly Cisplatin 40 mg/m2 for a maximum of 5 cycles. They received 46 Gy/23 fractions, 5 fractions per week of external beam radiation. In these patients dose optimization was done in order to achieve a tumor maximum dose (dmax) around 105%. Various techniques were used for dose optimization which included the use of sub fields, adjusting the weightages, using wedges and the use of mixed energies. EBRT (External Beam Radiotherapy) was followed by two fractions of high dose rate intracavitary brachytherapy of 9 Gy each. Acute RTOG toxicity was assessed weekly during EBRT and 1 week post EBRT. Results: The median age of the patients was 45 (range: 30 - 55 years). All the patients completed EBRT;63.3% of the patients received all 5 cycles of chemotherapy while 26.6% of the patients received 4 cycles of chemotherapy and 10% of the patients received 3 cycles of chemotherapy. The most predominant toxicity seen was GI toxicity, diarrhea being the most common GI toxicity followed by vomiting. Neutropenia was the most common hematological toxicity. Most patients had grade 0 and grade 1 toxicity. None of the patients had grade 4 toxicity while few had grade 2 and 3 toxicity. Conclusion: 3d conformal concurrent chemo radiotherapy with dmaxaround 105% reduces acute RTOG toxicity particularly grade 3 and 4 and improves patient compliance for concurrent chemo-radiotherapy.
