Promising way to address massive intragastric clotting in patients with acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding:A case report

BACKGROUND Massive intragastric clotting(MIC) makes endoscopic therapy difficult in patients with acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding. Literature data on how to address this problem are limited. Here, we report on a case of massive stomach bleeding with MIC that was successfully treated endoscopically using an overtube of singleballoon *** suMMARY A 62-year-old gentleman with metastatic lung cancer was admitted to the intensive care unit due to tarry stools and hematemesis of 1500 mL of blood during hospitalization. Emergent esophagogastroduodenoscopy revealed massive blood clots and fresh blood in the stomach with evidence of active *** sites could not be observed even by changing the patient’s position and aggressive endoscope suction. The MIC was successfully removed using an overtube connected with a suction pipe, which was inserted into the stomach with an overtube of a single-balloon enteroscope. An ultrathin gastroscope was also introduced through the nose into the stomach to guide the suction. A massive blood clot was successfully removed, and an ulcer with oozing bleeding at the inferior lesser curvature of the upper gastric body was revealed, facilitating endoscopic hemostatic *** This technique appears to be a previously unreported method to suction MIC out of the stomach in patients with acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding. This technique could be considered when other methods are not available or if they fail to remove massive blood clots in the stomach.

Statistical characteristics and classification of ionospheric mid-latitude trough as revealed by the observations of DMSP-F18

Statistical characteristics and the classification of the topside ionospheric mid-latitude trough are systemically analyzed,using observations from the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program F18(DMSP-F18)*** data was obtained at an altitude of around 860 km in near polar orbit,throughout *** study identified the auroral boundary based on the in-situ electron density and electron spectrum,allowing us to precisely determine the location of the mid-latitude *** differs from most previous works,which only use Total Electron Content(TEC)or in-situ electron *** our study,the troughs exhibited a higher occurrence rate in local winter than in summer,and extended to lower latitudes with increasing geomagnetic *** was found that the ionospheric mid-latitude trough,which is associated with temperature changes or enhanced ion drift,exhibited distinct ***,the ionospheric mid-latitude troughs related to electron temperature(Te)peak were located more equatorward of auroral oval boundary in winter than in *** ionospheric mid-latitude troughs related to Te-maximum were less frequently observed at 60−70°S magnetic latitude and 90−240°E ***,the troughs related to ion temperature(Ti)maximums were observed at relatively higher latitudes,occurring more frequently in *** addition,the troughs related to ion velocity(Vi)maximums could be observed in all *** troughs with the maximum-Ti and maximum-Vi were located closer to the equatorward boundary of the auroral oval at the nightside,and in both *** implies that enhanced ion drift velocity contributes to increased collisional frictional heating and enhanced ion temperatures,resulting in a density depletion within the trough region.

In phase unwrapping, how to control the residues and cut lines is critical to unwrap ill-state wrapped phase map successfully. Some new concepts in phase unwrapping field are proposed. Firstly, the residues in three types, i.e., singular residues, normal residues and virtual residues, are classified, which leads to some rational unwrapping paths. Secondly, some differences between cut-line and curved line are analyzed. And finally, experiment is carried out to compare our new enhanced Goldstein algorithm with the original Goldstein algorithm.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are distinguished by their unique porosity and meticulously ordered framework structures,setting them apart from conventional complexes. These materials are defined by their highly organized crystalline and pore structures, extensive surface areas, robust porosity, and superior adsorption capabilities. Owing to their exceptional structural and functional attributes, MOFs and their derivatives are leveraged across a broad spectrum of applications, demonstrating significant potential across diverse sectors. In recent times, the scientific community has increasingly focused on MOFs, underscoring their growing importance in research. Despite the promising array of applications for MOFs and their derivatives,challenges persist in practical deployments, and the pathway to research advancement remains daunting. This document delves into the synthesis and various applications of MOFs and their derivatives, particularly in the domains of energy storage, catalysis,sensing, and water treatment. It also highlights the ongoing research progress in the field of electrochemistry, including developments in lithium ion batteries (LIBs), lithium-sulfur batteries (LSBs), zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs), aqueous nickel-zinc batteries (NZBs), and supercapacitors. Ultrastrong room-temperature phosphorescence in cucurbit[8]uril-mediated crystalline supramolecules for ratiometric detection of phenethylamine

It is a great challenge to modulate purely organic fluorescence-phosphorescence dual emission in aqueous solution because the excited singlet and triplet states are in competition with each other. Herein, we report a crystalline 1:2 host-guest formed by selfassembly of 4-(4-bromophenyl)-pyridinium derivatives and cucurbit[8]uril, in which a rigid environment rich in weak interactions is directly demonstrated. Due to the inhibition of non-radiative transition and stabilization of triplet exciton in the crystalline environment, the crystalline inclusion complex exhibits ultralong room-temperature phosphorescence lifetime of 3.21 ms with an room-temperature phosphorescence(RTP) quantum yield up to 16.29%. Interestingly, the crystalline 1:2 hostguest complex demonstrates the ability of rapid identification and sensitive fluorescence-phosphorescence ratiometric detection behavior toward phenethylamine, a drug analogue, with a limit of detection as low as 27.5 nM. We believe that this study will undoubtedly broaden the utilizing scopes of RTP and offer a novel avenue for psychoactive substances monitoring.
