Global,regional and national burdens of bipolar disorders in adolescents and young adults:a trend analysis from 1990 to 2019

Background Bipolar disorder is identified as a cause of severe damage to the physical,psychological and social functioning of adolescents and young adults.Aims The aim of this study is to ascertain the trends in the burden of bipolar disorder among individuals aged 10-24 years at global,regional and national levels from 1990 to 2019.Methods The data analysed in this study were from the Global Burden of Diseases 2019.The numbers,rates per 100000 population,average annual percentage changes(AAPCs)of incidence,prevalence and years lived with disability(YLDs)of bipolar disorder are reported at the global,regional and national levels among individuals aged 10-24 years.Global trends by age,sex and Social Development Index(SDI)were further analysed.Results Globally,the incidence of bipolar disorder among adolescents and young adults increased from 79.21 per 100000 population(95%uncertainty interval(Ul):58.13 to 105.15)in 1990 to 84.97 per 100000 population(95%Ul:61.73 to 113.46)in 2019,AAPC 0.24(95%confidence interval(Cl):0.22 to 0.26).In the past three decades,there has been an increase in incidence,prevalence and YLDs in both males and females.The largest increase in incidence between 1990 and 2019 was observed in those aged 20-24 years old from 51.76 per 100000 population(95%Ul:26.81 to 87.20)in 1990 to 58.37 per 100000 population(95%UI:30.39 to 98.55)in 2019;AAPC 0.42(95%Cl:0.38 to 0.47).By the SDI quintile,the largest increase in incidence was observed in the middle SDl;however,the high SDI countries had the highest incidence.Regionally,the largest increase in incidence was observed in southern Latin America.At the national level,the most pronounced increase in the incidence was in Greenland.Conclusions The global increase in incidence among adolescents and young adults between 1990 and 2019 indicates that strategies to improve their mental health still need to be emphasised.

Impact Analysis of Microscopic Defect Types on the Macroscopic Crack Propagation in Sintered Silver Nanoparticles

Sintered silver nanoparticles(AgNPs)arewidely used in high-power electronics due to their exceptional properties.However,the material reliability is significantly affected by various microscopic defects.In this work,the three primary micro-defect types at potential stress concentrations in sintered AgNPs are identified,categorized,and quantified.Molecular dynamics(MD)simulations are employed to observe the failure evolution of different microscopic defects.The dominant mechanisms responsible for this evolution are dislocation nucleation and dislocation motion.At the same time,this paper clarifies the quantitative relationship between the tensile strain amount and the failure mechanism transitions of the three defect types by defining key strain points.The impact of defect types on the failure process is also discussed.Furthermore,traction-separation curves extracted from microscopic defect evolutions serve as a bridge to connect the macro-scale model.The validity of the crack propagation model is confirmed through tensile tests.Finally,we thoroughly analyze how micro-defect types influence macro-crack propagation and attempt to find supporting evidence from the MD model.Our findings provide a multi-perspective reference for the reliability analysis of sintered AgNPs.

Designing Proportional-Integral Consensus Protocols for Second-Order Multi-Agent Systems Using Delayed and Memorized State Information

This paper is concerned with consensus of a secondorder linear time-invariant multi-agent system in the situation that there exists a communication delay among the agents in the network.A proportional-integral consensus protocol is designed by using delayed and memorized state information.Under the proportional-integral consensus protocol,the consensus problem of the multi-agent system is transformed into the problem of asymptotic stability of the corresponding linear time-invariant time-delay system.Note that the location of the eigenvalues of the corresponding characteristic function of the linear time-invariant time-delay system not only determines the stability of the system,but also plays a critical role in the dynamic performance of the system.In this paper,based on recent results on the distribution of roots of quasi-polynomials,several necessary conditions for Hurwitz stability for a class of quasi-polynomials are first derived.Then allowable regions of consensus protocol parameters are estimated.Some necessary and sufficient conditions for determining effective protocol parameters are provided.The designed protocol can achieve consensus and improve the dynamic performance of the second-order multi-agent system.Moreover,the effects of delays on consensus of systems of harmonic oscillators/double integrators under proportional-integral consensus protocols are investigated.Furthermore,some results on proportional-integral consensus are derived for a class of high-order linear time-invariant multi-agent systems.

MicroRNA-30a inhibits cell proliferation in a sepsis-induced acute kidney injury model by targeting the YAP-TEAD complex

Background Acute kidney injury(AKI)is a primary feature of renal complications in patients with sepsis.MicroRNA(miRNA/miR)-30a is an essential regulator of cardiovascular diseases,tumors,phagocytosis,and other physical processes,but whether it participates in sepsis-induced AKI(sepsis-AKI)is unknown.We aimed to elucidate the functions and molecular mechanism underlying miR-30a activity in sepsis-AKI.Methods The classical cecal ligation and puncture(CLP)method and lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced Human Kidney 2(HK-2)cells were used to establish in vivo and in vitro sepsis-AKI models.Specific pathogen-free and mature male Sprague-Dawley(SD)rats,aged 6–8 weeks(weight 200–250 g),were randomly divided into five-time phase subgroups.Fluid resuscitation with 30 mL/kg 37°C saline was administered after the operation,without antibiotics.Formalin-fixed,paraffin-embedded kidney sections were stained with hematoxylin and eosin.SD rat kidney tissue samples were collected for analysis by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.HK-2 cells were transfected with hsa-miR-30a-3p mimics or inhibitors,and compared with untreated normal controls.RNA,protein,and cell viability were evaluated by quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR),western blot,and cell counting kit-8 methods.A Dual-Luciferase Assay Kit(Promega)was used to measure luciferase activity 48 h after transfection with miR-30a-3p mimics.Results Expression levels of miR-30a-3p and miR-30a-5p in renal tissues of the sepsis group were significantly reduced at 12 h and 24 h(Psue 3 h after the operation in rats(P<0.05),and gradually decreased 6 h,12 h,and 24 h after CLP.Levels of miR-30a-5p and miR-30a-3p were significantly down-regulated at 3 h after LPS treatment(P<0.05),and gradually decreased in HK-2 cells.One hour after LPS(10µg/mL)treatment,TNF-αand IL-1βlevels in HK-2 cells were significantly up-

Since 2015,stroke has become the leading cause of death and disability in China,posing a significant threat to the health of its citizens as a major chronic non-communicable disease.According to the China Stroke High-risk Population Screening and Intervention Program,an estimated 17.8 million[95%confidence interval(CI)17.6–18.0million]adults in China had experienced a stroke in 2020,with 3.4 million(95%CI 3.3–3.5 million)experiencing their first-ever stroke and another 2.3 million(95%CI 2.2–2.4 million)dying as a result.Additionally,approximately 12.5%(95%CI 12.4%–12.5%)of stroke survivors were left disabled,as defined by a modified Rankin Scale score greater than 1,equating to 2.2 million(95%CI 2.1–2.2 million)stroke-related disabilities in 2020.As the population ages and the prevalence of risk factors like diabetes,hypertension,and hyperlipidemia continues to rise and remains poorly controlled,the burden of stroke in China is also increasing.A large national epidemiological survey initiated by the China Hypertension League in 2017 showed that the prevalence of hypertension was 24.7%;the awareness,treatment,and control rates in hypertensive patients were:60.1%,42.5%,and 25.4%,respectively.A nationally representative sample of the Chinese mainland population showed that the weighted prevalence of total diabetes diagnosed by the American Diabetes Association criteria was 12.8%,suggesting there are 120 million adults with diabetes in China,and the awareness,treatment,and control rates in diabetic patients were:43.3%,49.0%,and 49.4%,respectively.The“Sixth National Health Service Statistical survey Report in 2018”showed that the proportion of the obese population in China was 37.4%,an increase of 7.2 points from 2013.Data from 1599 hospitals in the Hospital Quality Monitoring System and Bigdata Observatory Platform for Stroke of China(BOSC)showed that a total of 3,418,432 stroke cases[mean age±standard error(SE)was(65.700±0.006)years,and 59.1%were male]were admitted during 2020.Of those,over 80.0%(81.9%)were ischemic

Determining an optimal control strategy for anthropogenic VOC emissions in China based on source emissions and reactivity

An evidence-based control strategy for emission reduction of VOC sources can effectively solve the regional PM2.5and O3compound pollution in China.We estimated the anthropogenic VOC emission inventory in China in 2018 and established a source profile database containing 129 sources based on localized detection and the latest research results.Then,the distribution of the ozone formation potential(OFP)and secondary organic aerosol formation potential(SOAFP)for emission sources was analyzed.Moreover,priority control routes for VOC emission sources were proposed for different periods.Anthropogenic VOC emissions in China reached 27,211.8 Gg in 2018,and small passenger cars,industrial protective coatings,biomass burning,heavy trucks,printing,asphalt paving,oil storage and transportation,coking,and oil refining were the main contributors.Industrial protective coatings,small passenger cars,and biomass burning all contributed significantly to OFP and SOAFP.Priority in emission reduction control should be given to industrial protective coatings,small passenger cars,heavy trucks,coking,printing,asphalt paving,chemical fibers,and basic organic chemical sources over the medium and long term in China.In addition,the priority control route for VOC emission sources should be adjusted according to the variations in VOC emission characteristics and regional differences,so as to obtain the maximum environmental benefits.

A photocatalytic[3+2]annulation of alkenes with vinyl azides was developed under irradiation by visible light in the presence of organic dye photocatalysts.Broad substrate scope and high functional group tolerance were demonstrated by more than 50 examples.The reaction provides a novel and efficient method for the synthesis of polyfunctionalized pyrroles under very mild metal-free conditions without other additives.

Comparative effectiveness of several adjuvant therapies after hepatectomy for hepatocellular carcinoma patients with microvascular invasion

BACKGROUND For resectable hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),radical hepatectomy is commonly used as a curative treatment.However,postoperative recurrence significantly diminishes the overall survival(OS)of HCC patients,especially with microva-scular invasion(MVI)as an independent high-risk factor for recurrence.While some studies suggest that postoperative adjuvant therapy may decrease the risk of recurrence following liver resection in HCC patients,the specific role of adju-vant therapies in those with MVI remains unclear.AIM To conduct a network meta-analysis(NMA)to evaluate the efficacy of various adjuvant therapies and determine the optimal adjuvant regimen.METHODS A systematic literature search was conducted on PubMed,EMBASE,and Web of Science until April 6,2023.Studies comparing different adjuvant therapies or comparing adjuvant therapy with hepatectomy alone were included.Hazard ratios(HRs)with 95%confidence intervals were used to combine data on recurrence free survival and OS in both pairwise meta-analyses and NMA.REsuLTS Fourteen eligible trials(2268 patients)reporting five different therapies were included.In terms of reducing the risk of recurrence,radiotherapy(RT)[HR=0.34(0.23,0.5);surface under the cumulative ranking curve(suCRA)=97.7%]was found to be the most effective adjuvant therapy,followed by hepatic artery infusion chemotherapy[HR=0.52(0.35,0.76);suCRA=65.1%].Regarding OS improvement,RT[HR:0.35(0.2,0.61);suCRA=93.1%]demonstrated the highest effectiveness,followed by sorafenib[HR=0.48(0.32,0.69);suCRA=70.9%].INTRODUCTION Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is the sixth most common malignant tumor in the world and ranks third in terms of worldwide malignant tumor mortality rates in 2020[1].Curative treatments for HCC include ablation,radical hepatectomy,and liver transplantation.However,ablation is suitable only for early-stage HCC patients,who represent a small percentage of the overall HCC population.Although liver transplantation serves as the optimal treatment for HCC patients,the scarcity of donor or

Platelet-rich plasma promotes peripheral nerve regeneration after sciatic nerve injury

The effect of platelet-rich plasma on nerve regeneration remains controversial.In this study,we established a rabbit model of sciatic nerve small-gap defects with preserved epineurium and then filled the gaps with platelet-rich plasma.Twenty-eight rabbits were divided into the following groups(7 rabbits/group):model,low-concentrati on PRP(2.5-3.5-fold concentration of whole blood platelets),medium-concentration PRP(4.5-6.5-fold concentration of whole blood platelets),and high-concentration PRP(7.5-8.5-fold concentration of whole blood platelets).Electrophysiological and histomorphometrical assessments and proteomics analysis we re used to evaluate regeneration of the sciatic nerve.Our results showed that platelet-rich plasma containing 4.5-6.5-and 7.5-8.5-fold concentrations of whole blood platelets promoted repair of sciatic nerve injury.Proteomics analysis was performed to investigate the possible mechanism by which platelet-rich plasma promoted nerve regeneration.Proteomics analysis showed that after sciatic nerve injury,platelet-rich plasma increased the expression of integrin subunitβ-8(ITGB8),which participates in angiogenesis,and differentially expressed proteins were mainly enriched in focal adhesion pathways.Additionally,two key proteins,ribosomal protein S27 a(RSP27 a)and ubiquilin 1(UBQLN1),which were selected after protein-protein interaction analysis,are involved in the regulation of ubiquitin levels in vivo.These data suggest that platelet-rich plasma promotes peripheral nerve regeneration after sciatic nerve injury by affecting angiogenesis and intracellular ubiquitin levels.

Background:IQGAP3 plays a crucial role in regulating cell proliferation,division,and cytoskeletal organization.Abnormal expression of IQGAP3 has been linked to various tumors,but its function in glioma is not well understood.Methods:Various methods,including genetic differential analysis,single-cell analysis,ROC curve analysis,Cox regression,Kaplan-Meier analysis,and enrichment analysis,were employed to analyze the expression patterns,diagnostic potential,prognostic implications,and biological processes involving IQGAP3 in normal and tumor tissues.The impact of IQGAP3 on immune infiltration and the immune microenvironment in gliomas was evaluated using immunofluorescence.Additionally,the cBioPortal database was used to analyze copy number variations and mutation sites of IQGAP3.Experimental validation was also performed to assess the effects of IQGAP3 on glioma cells and explore underlying mechanisms.Results:High IQGAP3 expression in gliomas is associated with an unfavorable prognosis,particularly in wild-type IDH and 1p/19q non-codeleted gliomas.Enrichment analysis revealed that IQGAP3 is involved in regulating the cell cycle,PI3K/AKT signaling,p53 signaling,and PLK1-related pathways.Furthermore,IQGAP3 expression may be closely related to the immunosuppressive microenvironment of glioblastoma.BRD-K88742110 and LY-303511 are potential drugs for targeting IQGAP3 in anti-glioma therapy.In vitro experiments showed that downregulation of IQGAP3 inhibits the proliferation and migration of glioma cells,with the PLK1/PI3K/AKT pathway potentially playing a crucial role in IQGAP3-mediated glioma progression.Conclusion:IQGAP3 shows promise as a valuable biomarker for diagnosis,prognosis,and immunotherapeutic strategies in gliomas.
