Fully resolved simulations of viscoelastic suspensions by an efficient immersed boundary-lattice Boltzmann method

An efficient immersed boundary-lattice Boltzmann method(IB-LBM)is proposed for fully resolved simulations of suspended solid particles in viscoelastic *** LBM based on Giesekus and Oldroyd-B constitutive equation are used to model the viscoelastic stress tensor.A boundary thickening-based direct forcing IB method is adopted to solve the particle-fluid interactions with high accuracy for non-slip boundary conditions.A universal law is proposed to determine the diffusivity constant in a viscoelastic LBM model to balance the numerical accuracy and stability over a wide range of computa-tional *** asynchronous calculation strategy is adopted to further improve the computing *** method was firstly applicated to the simulation of sedimentation of a single particle and a pair of particles after good validations in cases of the flow past a fixed cylinder and particle migration in a Couette flow against FEM and FVM *** determination of the asynchronous calculation strategy and the effect of viscoelastic stress distribution on the settling behaviors of one and two particles are ***,504 particles settling in a closed cavity was simulated and the phenomenon that the viscoelastic stress stabilizing the Rayleigh-Taylor instabilities was *** last,simulations of a dense flow involving 11001 particles,the largest number of particles to date,were performed to investigate the instability behavior induced by elastic effect under hydrodynamic interactions in a viscoelastic *** elasticity-induced ordering of the particle structures and fluid bubble structures in this dense flow is revealed for the first *** simulations demonstrate the capability and prospects of the present method for aid in understanding the complex behaviors of viscoelastic particle suspensions.

Vertical SnO_(2)based p-n junctions are pivotal since they built the core components in photoelectronic ***,preparation of high-quality p-SnO_(2)with controllable hole mobility and concentration is still a great challenge owing to the self-compensating effect and lattice distortion caused by the radius discrepancy between host and doped ***,p type GaN:Mg grown by metal organic chemical vapor deposition is employed as hole transportation layer to construct p-n heterojunction with intrinsic n-SnO_(2)prepared by atomic layer *** material preparation techniques are compatible with current industrial mass production *** p-GaN/n-SnO_(2)heterojunction can be developed as solar cell,dual-color light emitting diode and self-powered,high speed ultraviolet(UV)photodetector with external quantum efficiency of 74%at 0 V bias *** addition,direct recombination of donor bound excitons(D0 X)and UV emission red shifts caused by quantum confinement Stack effect are observed in SnO_(2).Since our device fabrication technique is a standard craft in photoelectronics,the study of p-GaN/n-SnO_(2)heterojunction suggests a simple and effective strategy for large scale device integration in next generation high performance photoelectronic devices.

Role of FGF/FGFR signaling in skeletal development and homeostasis: learning from mouse models

Fibroblast growth factor （FGF）/fibroblast growth factor receptor （FGFR） signaling plays essential roles in bone development and diseases. Missense mutations in FGFs and FGFRs in humans can cause various congenital bone diseases, including chondrodysplasia syndromes, craniosynostosis syndromes and syndromes with dysregulated phosphate metabolism. FGF/FGFR signaling is also an important pathway involved in the maintenance of adult bone homeostasis. Multiple kinds of mouse models, mimicking human skeleton diseases caused by missense mutations in FGFs and FGFRs, have been established by knock-m/out and transgenic technologies. These genetically modified mice provide good models for studying the role of FGF/FGFR signaling in skeleton development and homeostasis. In this review, we summarize the mouse models of FGF signaling-related skeleton diseases and recent progresses regarding the molecular mechanisms, underlying the role of FGFs/FGFRs in the regulation of bone development and homeostasis. This review also provides a perspective view on future works to explore the roles of FGF signaling in skeletal development and homeostasis.

Modeling data quality for risk assessment of GIS

This paper presents a methodology to determine three data quality (DQ) risk characteristics: accuracy, comprehensiveness and nonmembership. The methodology provides a set of quantitative models to confirm the information quality risks for the database of the geographical information system (GIS). Four quantitative measures are introduced to examine how the quality risks of source information affect the quality of information outputs produced using the relational algebra operations Selection, Projection, and Cubic Product. It can be used to determine how quality risks associated with diverse data sources affect the derived data. The GIS is the prime source of information on the location of cables, and detection time strongly depends on whether maps indicate the presence of cables in the construction business. Poor data quality in the GIS can contribute to increased risk or higher risk avoidance costs. A case study provides a numerical example of the calculation of the trade-offs between risk and detection costs and provides an example of the calculation of the costs of data quality. We conclude that the model contributes valuable new insight.

What is the appropriate strategy for diagnosing NAFLD using ultrasonography in obese children?

Background:The aim of this study is to identify obese children who are candidates for a potential diagnosis of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).Methods:We enrolled 242 obese children (122 boys and 120 girls) aged 7-16 years who were examined with abdominal ultrasonography in our pediatric obesity *** compared patients in the normal group with those in the NAFLD group (mild disease,moderate to severe disease) and identified the optimal anthropometric parameters among height,weight,body mass index (BMI),waist circumference,hip circumference,waist to height ratio (WHtR),and waist to hip ratio to predict NAFLD using a receiver operating characteristic curve *** also investigated risk factors associated with NAFLD for the anthropometric parameters and the biochemical model using logistic ***:The high-and low-risk groups for hepatic steatosis relative to a WHtR of 0.56 as the standard point showed significant differences in hepatic steatosis severity grade (P0.56 (2.25,1.05-4.81),and waist circumference >90th percentile (20.22,9.21-44.36) in the anthropometric parameter model and elevated alanine aminotransferase levels (boys >25.8 U/L,girls >22.1 U/L) (6.93,2.52-19.03),hypertriglyceridemia (>110 mg/dL) (3.80,1.23-11.75),and triglyceride to HDL cholesterol ratio >3 (9.23,2.95-8.83) in the biochemical parameter ***:A diagnostic approach to hepatic steatosis is recommended as part of the proper screening and stratification of risk factors in obese *** is a simple and convenient method of effectively identifying obese children who are candidates for hep

High-voltage direct current(HVDC)and high-voltage alternating current(HVAC)cables are the most important equipment for high-voltage,large-capacity and long-distance power *** tree is a pre-breakdown phenomenon leading to failure of insulation materials,and it is the major issue that threatens the safe and stable operation of HVDC and HVAC cable *** study summarises and analyses the achievements in the research of electrical tree for HVDC and HVAC *** initiation mechanisms of the electrical tree,including Maxwell electro-mechanical stress,charge injection-extraction,charge trapping and electroluminescence theories,are elaborated for fully understanding the electrical degradation process in insulation ***,the influences of the high electric field,high temperature and mechanical stress on electrical tree behaviours are discussed,and the relationship between charge transport and the electrical tree is analysed and *** suppression methods of the electrical tree are put forward by introducing inorganic and organic additives into insulation materials,and the suppression mechanisms are presented from the viewpoints of the structure-property and microscale-macroscale ***,the electrical tree research studies are focused on the high-precision of initiation models,high-dependence of multi-physical fields and high-efficiency of suppression *** achievements provide theoretical support for improving the electrical performance of insulation materials,while it is a practical problem to explore their application feasibility in HVDC and HVAC cable.

Enzyme-treated date plum leave extract ameliorates atopic dermatitis-like skin lesion in hairless mice

Objective: To evaluate the effect of different extracts of Diospyros lotus leaves in atopic dermatitis Methods: Diospyros lotus leaves were extracted in ethanol and treated with or without hydrochloric acid or α-rhamnosidase to obtain three different extracts-ethanol, acid-hydrolyzed, and enzyme-hydrolyzed leaf extracts of date plum. The myricitrin content in all samples was measured using HPLC analysis. In vitro antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of the extracts were determined by measuring DPPH radical scavenging activities and nitric oxide production in RAW264.7 cells, respectively. Sevenweek-old male hairless mice were used to evaluate the anti-atopic dermatitis effects of three extracts in vivo. Splenocytes and mast cells were used to further determine the anti-atopic dermatitis effects of the major compound in the ethanol leaf ***: Enzyme-hydrolyzed leaf extract showed significant in vitro antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities, and attenuated atopic dermatitis-like skin symptoms and clinical signs more significantly than ethanol and acid-hydrolyzed leaf extracts in 1-fluoro-2,4-dinitrobenzene and house dust mite antigen-treated hairless mice. Enzyme-hydrolyzed leaf extract also suppressed the serum level of immunoglobulin E, interleukin(IL)-4, tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-α, interferon(IFN)-γ, thymic stromal lymphopoietin, and thymus and activation-regulated chemokine in mice with atopic dermatitis. Furthermore, histological analysis revealed that enzymehydrolyzed leaf extract suppressed the increased epidermal thickness, dermal infiltration of inflammatory cells, and infiltration and degranulation of mast cells more markedly than the other two extracts in atopic dermatitis-like skin lesions. In addition, this extract effectively inhibited the production of IFN-γ, IL-4, and thymus and activation-regulated chemokine compared with the other two extracts in concanavalin A-stimulated splenocytes. Data trading enables data owners and data requesters to sell and purchase *** the emergence of blockchain technology,research on blockchain-based data trading systems is receiving a lot of ***,to reduce the on-chain storage cost,a novel paradigm of blockchain and cloud fusion has been widely considered as a promising data trading ***,the fact that data can be used for commercial purposes will encourage users and organizations from various fields to participate in the data *** the data marketplace,it is a challenge how to trade the data securely outsourced to the external cloud in a way that restricts access to the data only to authorized users across multiple *** this paper,we propose a cross-domain bilateral access control protocol for blockchain-cloud based data trading *** consider a system model that consists of domain authorities,data senders,data receivers,a blockchain layer,and a cloud *** proposed protocol enables access control and source identification of the outsourced data by leveraging identity-based cryptographic *** the proposed protocol,the outsourced data of the sender is encrypted under the target receiver’s identity,and the cloud provider performs policy-match verification on the authorization tags of the sender and receiver generated by the identity-based signature ***,data trading can be achieved only if the identities of the data sender and receiver simultaneously meet the policies specified by each *** demonstrate efficiency,we evaluate the performance of the proposed protocol and compare it with existing studies.

Fruit quality,anthocyanin and total phenolic contents,and antioxidant activities of 45 blueberry cultivars grown in suwon,Korea

Blueberry fruits from 45 commercial cultivars (39 northern highbush and 6 half highbush blueberry) grown in suwon,Korea were analyzed for fruit size,soluble solids content,titratable acidity,total anthocyanin content,total phenolic content,and antioxidant *** characteristics varied widely among the 45 blueberry *** weight ranged from 0.9 to 3.6 g,soluble solids content from 8.3 to 14.3 °Brix,and titratable acidity from 0.8% to 3.6%.Antioxidant activity ranged from 0.7 to 2.1 mg of quercetin equivalents per gram of fresh berries in different blueberry *** the 45 blueberry cultivars,high amounts of anthocyanins and polyphenols,and high antioxidant activity were observed in 'Elliott','Rubel','Rancocas',and 'Friendship'.
