The Triassic fluvial sandstones of the Skagerrak Formation were deposited in a series of salt-walled mini-basins and act as important hydrocarbon reservoirs for several high-pressure, high-temperature（HPHT） fields in the Central Graben, North Sea. The HPHT reservoirs exhibit excellent reservoir quality considering their depth of burial and hence have been of high interest for hydrocarbon exploration. This research uses a multidisciplinary approach to assess the Skagerrak Formation fluvial reservoir quality from the Seagull field incorporating core analysis, petrography, electron microscopy, XRD analysis, fluid inclusion appraisal and burial history modelling. Halokinesis and salt withdrawal at the margin of the saltwalled mini-basin induced early disaggregation bands and fractures at shallow burial and led to increased influx of meteoric water and clay mineral infiltration from overlying sedimentation. The density of disaggregation bands correlates with the occurrence and magnitude of pore-filling authigenic clay minerals, concentrated along the margin of the saltwalled mini-basin. The fluvial channel sandstones of the Skagerrak Formation are subject to strong intra-basinal spatial reservoir quality variations despite diagenesis and low vertical effective stress having played a favourable role in arresting porosity loss.

Background Estimated 4%-8% of pregnancies are complicated by asthma. Adequate management in this population is critical to minimize complications. Patients presenting with asthma exacerbation are typically managed with standard bronchodilators and systemic corticosteroids. However, additional agents may be used in patients with refractory asthma exacerbation. Ketamine has been used in refractory bronchospasm, although its efficacy in published literature is heterogeneous. Case Presentation We present a case of a pregnant patient with severe asthma exacerbation refractory to standard and salvage treatment who achieved termination of bronchospasm with ketamine infusion. Conclusion After receiving ketamine infusion for several days, the patient had improved air flow and achieved successful extubation, without experiencing rebound bronchospasm. Although this individual clinical case alone cannot change guidelines or directives to use in refractory asthma exacerbations, it offers a possible treatment option to patients and providers in unusually severe cases with extenuating risk factors. © Wolters Kluwer Health, Inc. Are Americans weaving their political views more tightly into the fabric of their self-identity over time?If so,then we might expect partisan disagreements to continue becoming more emotional,tribal,and *** recent scholarship has speculated that this politicization of Americans’identity is occurring,but there has been little compelling attempt to quantify the phenomenon,largely because the concept of identity is notoriously difficult to *** introduce here a methodology,Longitudinal Online Profile Sampling(LOPS),which affords quantifiable insights into the way individuals amend their identity over *** this method,we analyze millions of“bios”on the microblogging site Twitter over a 4-year span,and conclude that the average American user is increasingly integrating politics into their social *** on the site are adding political words to their bios at a higher rate than any other category of words we measured,and are now more likely to describe themselves by their political affiliation than their religious *** data suggest that this is due to both cohort and individual-level effects.

In this editorial,we comment on the article by He et al,specifically in relation to the efficacy of bariatric surgery vs glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist(GLP-1RA)therapy in the management of type 2 diabetes(T2D)associated with *** surgery has now also been shown to be safe and effective in pre-teens and teenagers with obesity and T2D,but information on newer GLP-1RAs in these groups is predictably *** older individuals(age>65 years),both bariatric surgery and GLP-1RA therapy improve cardiovascular ***-tric surgery is not infrequently associated with post-operative postprandial hypoglycemia,which is not the case with GLP-1RAs and,paradoxically,there is evidence that GLP-1RAs may reduce both the frequency and severity of postprandial *** trials of the long-term efficacy of bariatric surgery and GLP-1RAs are indicated.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis （ALS） is a fatal progressive disorder characterized by the selective degeneration of motor neurons （MN）. The impact of peripheral immune status on disease progression and MN survival is becoming increasingly recognized in the ALS research field. In this review, we briefly discuss findings from mouse models of peripheral nerve injury and immunodeficiency to understand how the immune system regulates MN survival. We extend these observations to similar studies in the widely used superoxide dismutase 1 （SOD1） mouse model of ALS. Last, we present future hypotheses to identify potential causative factors that lead to immune dysregulation in ALS. The lessons from preceding work in this area offer new exciting directions to bridge the gap in our current understanding of immune mediated neuroprotection in ALS.

Climate change and biodiversity loss are pressing global challenges(Pörtner et al.,2021).However,as global energy demand continues to increase(IEA,2021),nations face significant challenges to decarbonization and reaching“net zero”due to trade-offs between the often-competing needs of renewable energy generation and biodiversity *** example,hydropower generates renewable energy(Gibson et al.,2017),yet there are well-documented and severe consequences of dam development for biodiversity(e.g.,Zarfl et al.,2019)and people(e.g.,Bisht,2009)due to reservoir creation and disruption of river *** such potentially damaging ecological and social trade-offs,hydropower currently contributes 70%of global renewable energy and there are at least 3700 large dams planned or under construction globally(Zhang&Gu,2023).
