以英格兰 82 4名初中生为调查对象 ,主要考察了在目标定向、行为调节、能力知觉和体育活动参与情况上的年龄和性别差异 ,并且采用动机变量预测校外体育活动参与情况。研究结果呈现出明显的性别差异 ,男生有较高的自我定向、自我决定动机和能力知觉。与此一致的结果是男生比女生更喜爱体育活动。对男生来说 ,自我定向、自我决定动机和能力知觉是参加体育活动的正相关预测指标 ,而任务定向和无动机与体育活动参与没有关系。对女生来说 ,任务定向和能力知觉能够积极预测体育活动参与情况。

Delivery of a peptide(APP96-110),derived from amyloid precursor protein(APP),has been shown to elicit neuroprotective effects following cerebral stroke and traumatic brain injury.In this study,the effect of APP96-110 or a mutant version of this peptide(mAPP96-110)was assessed following moderate(200 kdyn,(2 N))thoracic contusive spinal cord injury(SCI)in adult Nude rats.Animals received a single tail vein injection of APP96-110 or mAPP96-110 at 30 minutes post-SCI and were then assessed for functional improvements over the next 8 weeks.A cohort of animals also received transplants of either viable or non-viable human mesenchymal stromal cells(hMSCs)into the SC lesion site at one week post-injury to assess the effect of combining intravenous APP96-110 delivery with hMSC treatment.Rats were perfused 8 weeks post-SCI and longitudinal sections of spinal cord analyzed for a number of factors including hMSC viability,cyst size,axonal regrowth,glial reactivity and macrophage activation.Analysis of sensorimotor function revealed occasional significant differences between groups using Ladderwalk or Ratwalk tests,however there were no consistent improvements in functional outcome after any of the treatments.mAPP96-110 alone,and APP96-110 in combination with both viable and non-viable hMSCs significantly reduced cyst size compared to SCI alone.Combined treatments with donor hMSCs also significantly increased βIII tubulin^(+),glial fibrillary acidic protein(GFAP^(+))and laminin+expression,and decreased ED1^(+)expression in tissues.This preliminary study demonstrates that intravenous delivery of APP96-110 peptide has selective,modest neuroprotective effects following SCI,which may be enhanced when combined with hMSC transplantation.however,the effects are less pronounced and less consistent compared to the protective morphological and cognitive impact that this same peptide has on neuronal survival and behaviour after stroke and traumatic brain injury.Thus while the efficacy of a particular therapeutic approach in one CNS inju

Ag/Ga were incorporated into resorbable orthopaedic phosphate bioactive glasses(PBG,containing P,Ca,Mg,Na,and Fe)thin films to demonstrate their potential to limit growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli in post-operative prosthetic implantation.Dual target consecutive co-sputtering was uniquely employed to produce a 46 nm Ag:PBG composite observed by high resolution TEM to consist of uniformly dispersed~5 nm metallic Ag nano-particles in a glass matrix.Ga^(3+)was integrated into a phosphate glass preform target which was magnetron sputtered to film thicknesses of~400 or 1400 nm.All coatings exhibited high surface energy of 75.4-77.3 mN/m,attributed to the presence of hydrolytic P-O-P structural surface bonds.Degradation profiles obtained in deionized water,nutrient broth and cell culture medium showed varying ion release profiles,whereby Ga release was measured in 1400 nm coating by ICP-MS to be~6,27,and 4 ppm respectively,fully dissolving by 24 h.Solubility of Ag nanoparticles was only observed in nutrient broth(~9 ppm by 24 h).Quantification of colony forming units after 24 h showed encouraging antibacterial efficacy towards both S.aureus(4-log reduction for Ag:PBG and 6-log reduction for Ga-PBG≈1400 nm)and E.coli(5-log reduction for all physical vapour deposited layers)strains.human hs27 fibroblast and mesenchymal stem cell line in vitro tests indicated good cytocompatibility for all sputtered layers,with a marginal cell proliferation inertia in the case of the Ag:PBG composite thin film.The study therefore highlights the(i)significant manufacturing development via the controlled inclusion of metallic nanoparticles into a PBG glass matrix by dual consecutive target co-sputtering and(ii)potential of PBG resorbable thin-film structures to incorporate and release cytocompatible/antibacterial oxides.Both architectures showed prospective bio-functional performance for a future generation of endo-osseous implant-type coatings.

Nitrogen doping of the carbon is an important method to improve the performance and durability of catalysts for proton exchange membrane fuel cells by platinum–nitrogen and carbon–nitrogen bonds. This study shows that p-phenyl groups and graphitic N acting bridges linking platinum and the graphene/carbon black(the ratio graphene/carbon black = 2/3) hybrid support materials achieved the average size of platinum nanoparticles with(4.88 ± 1.79) nm. It improved the performance of the lower-temperature hydrogen fuel cell up to 0.934 W cm^(-2) at 0.60 V, which is 1.55 times greater than that of commercial Pt/C. Doping also enhanced the interaction between Pt and the support materials, and the resistance to corrosion, thus improving the durability of the low-temperature hydrogen fuel cell with a much lower decay of 10 mV at 0.80 A cm^(-2) after 30 k cycles of an in-situ accelerated stress test of catalyst degradation than that of 92 mV in Pt/C, which achieves the target of Department of Energy(hile,Pt/Nr EGO_(2)-CB_(3) remains 78% of initial power density at 1.5 A cm^(-2) after 5 k cycles of in-situ accelerated stress test of carbon corrosion, which is more stable than the power density of commercial Pt/C, keeping only 54% after accelerated stress test.

In this study,nitrogen doped electrochemically exfoliated reduced graphene oxide and carbon black supported platinum(Pt/Nr EGO_(2)-CB_(3))has been prepared to enhance the performance and durability of hightemperature PEMFCs with lower Pt loading.On the one hand,Pt/Nr EGO_(2)-CB_(3)with the strong interaction between the Pt and nitrogen(N)prevent agglomeration of Pt particles and Pt particles is 5.46±1.46 nm,which is smaller than that of 6.78±1.34 nm in Pt/C.Meanwhile,ECSA of Pt/Nr EGO_(2)-CB_(3)decrease 13.65%after AST,which is much lower than that of 97.99%in Pt/C.On the other hand,the Nr EGO flakes in MEAac act as a barrier to mitigate phosphoric acid redistribution,which improves the formation of triple-phase boundaries(TPBs)and gives stable operation of the MEAacwith a lower decay rate of 0.02 mV h^(-1)within100 h.After steady-state operation,the maximum power density of Pt/Nr EGO_(2)-CB_(3)(0.411 W cm^(-2))is three times higher than that of conventional Pt/C(0.134 W cm^(-2))in high-temperature PEMFCs.After AST,the mass transfer resistance of Pt/Nr EGO_(2)-CB_(3)electrode(0.560Ωcm^(2))is lower than that in Pt/C(0.728Ωcm^(2)).

AIM To investigate the impact of medication beliefs, illness perceptions and quality of life on medication adherence in people with decompensated cirrhosis.METhODS One hundred adults with decompensated cirrhosis completed a structured questionnaire when they attended for routine outpatient hepatology review. Measures of self-reported medication adherence(Morisky Medication Adherence Scale), beliefs surrounding medications(Beliefs about Medicines Questionnaire), perceptions of illness and medicines(Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire), and quality of life(Chronic Liver Disease Questionnaire) were examined. Clinical data were obtained via patient history and review of medical records. Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator and stepwise backwards regression techniques were used to construct the multivariable logistic regression model. Statistical significance was set at alpha = 0.05.RESULTS Medication adherence was " high " in 42 % o f participants, "Medium" in 37%, and "Low" in 21%. Compared to patients with "high" adherence, those with "Medium" or "Low" adherence were more likely to report difficulty affording their medications(P helpfulness(P = 0.003) and stronger medication concerns relative to medication necessity beliefs(P = 0.003). People with "Low" adherence also experienced greater symptom burden and poorer quality of life, including more frequent abdominal pain(P = 0.023), shortness of breath(P = 0.030), and emotional disturbances(P = 0.050). Multivariable analysis identified having stronger medication concerns relative to necessity beliefs(Necessity-Concerns Differential ≤ 5, OR = 3.66, 95%CI: 1.18-11.40) and more frequent shortness of breath(shortness of breath score ≤ 3, OR = 3.87,95%CI: 1.22-12.25) as independent predictors of "Low"adherence.CONCLUSION The association between "Low" adherence and patients having strong concerns or doubting the necessity or helpfulness of their medications should be explored further given the clinical relevance.

The incorporation of therapeutic-capable ions into bioactive glasses(BGs),either based on silica(SBGs)or phosphate(PBGs),is currently envisaged as a proficient path for facilitating bone regeneration.Inconjunction with this view,the single and complementary structural and bio-functional roles of CuO andGa_(2)O_(3)(in the 2e5 mol%range)were assessed,by deriving a series of SBG and PBG formulations startingfrom the parent glass systems,FastOs®BG e 38.5SiO2d36.1CaOd5.6P2O5d19.2MgOd0.6CaF2,and50.0P2O5d35.0CaOd10.0Na_(2)Od5.0 Fe2O_(3)(mol%),respectively,using the process of melt-quenching.The inter-linked physico-chemistry e biological response of BGs was assessed in search of bio-functional triggers.Further light was shed on the structural role e as network former or modifier e ofCu and Ga,immersed in SBG and PBG matrices.The preliminary biological performance was surveyedin vitro by quantification of Cu and Ga ion release under homeostatic conditions,cytocompatibility assays(in fibroblast cell cultures)and antibacterial tests(against Staphylococcus aureus).The similar(Cu)anddissimilar(Ga)structural roles in the SBG and PBG vitreous networks governed their release.Namely,Cuions were leached in similar concentrations(ranging from 10e35 ppm and 50e110 ppm at BG doses of 5and 50 mg/mL,respectively)for both type of BGs,while the release of Ga ions was 1e2 orders ofmagnitude lower in the case of SBGs(i.e.,0.2e6 ppm)compared to PBGs(i.e.,9e135 ppm).This wasattributed to the network modifier role of Cu in both types of BGs,and conversely,to the network former(SBGs)and network modifier(PBGs)roles of Ga.All glasses were cytocompatible at a dose of 5 mg/mL,while at the same concentration the antimicrobial efficiency was found to be accentuated by the coupledrelease of Cu and Ga ions from SBG.By collective assessment,the most prominent candidate material forthe further development of implant coatings and bone graft substitutes was delineated as the38.5SiO2d34.1CaOd5.6P2O5d16.2MgOd0.6CaF2d2.0CuOd3.0Ga_(2)O_(3)(mol%)SBG system,wh

Background and purpose:Providing participants with evidence-based care for secondary prevention is an ethical and scientific priority for trials in stroke therapy.The optimal strategy,however,is uncertain.We report the performance of a new approach for delivering preventive care to trial participants.Methods:Participants were enrolled in the Insulin Resistance Intervention after Stroke trial,which examined the insulin sensitiser,pioglitazone versus placebo for prevention of stroke and myocardial infarction after ischaemic stroke or transient ischaemic attack.Preventive care was the responsibility of the participants’personal healthcare providers,but investigators monitored care and provided feedback annually.We studied achievement of 8 prevention goals at baseline and 3 annual visits,with a focus on 3 priority goals:blood pressurehg,lowdensity lipoprotein(LDL)cholesterolhrombotic therapy.Results:The proportion of participants achieving the priority goals was highest for antithrombotic use(96–99%in each year)and similar for blood pressure(66–72%in each year)and LDL(68–70%in each year).All 3 priority goals were achieved by 47–52%of participants in any given year.however,only 22%of participants achieved all 3 goals in each year.Conclusions:A strategy of monitoring care and providing feedback was associated with high average yearly achievement of 3 priority secondary prevention goals,but the majority of trial participants did not persist in being at goal over time.Trial registration number:NCT00091949.
