Surface charging activated mechanism change: A computational study of O, CO, and CO2 interactions on Ag electrodes

Electrocatalytic and plasma-activated processes receive increasing attention in catalysis. Density functional theory(DFT) calculations are state-of-the-art tools for the fundamental study of reaction mechanisms and predicting the performance of catalytic materials. Proper application of DFT-based methods is crucial when investigating charge-doped electrode surfaces during electrocatalytic and plasma-activated reactions. Here, as a model electrode for plasma-activated CO2 splitting, we studied the interactions of O, CO, and CO2 with the neutral and progressively charged Ag(111) metal surfaces. We show that the application of correction procedures is necessary to obtain accurate adsorption energy profiles of O atoms,CO and CO2 molecules on Ag surfaces that are under the influence of additional electrons. Interestingly,the oxidation of CO is found to shift from a Langmuir–Hinshelwood mechanism on a neutral electrode to an Eley–rideal mechanism on charged electrodes. Furtherm.r., we show that the surface charging of Ag(111) electrodes increase their CO2 reduction performance by enhancing the adsorption of O atoms and desorption of CO molecules. A further increase in the absolute charge-state of the electrode surface is expected to waive the thermodynamic barriers for the CO2 splitting reaction.

Poppy seeds （Papaver somniferum L.） are often attacked by various fungal dis- eases, and their field germination rate is low. The aim of this experiment was to increase the germination rate and growth of seedlings by modifying the poppy seeds using cold plasma dis- charge. The seeds were treated in a Plasonic Ar-550-m under power of 500 W with argon gas flow of 50 mL/min, oxygen gas flow of 50 mL/min for different time durations in seconds （0, 180, 300, 600, 1800, 3000, 4200, and 5400）. The seed germination rate and growth of the seedlings were recorded. Cold plasma positively affected the seed germination rate for time exposure between 180～3000 s. Seedling acceleration on the sixth day of the experiment showed the highest values at exposure 180～600 s. Cold plasma seems to be a good physicochemical way to modify seeds without chemical agronomical application.

In this letter, the modified Jacob/elliptic function expansion method is extended to solve m-coupled KdV equation, m-coupled Ito equation, vKdV equation, and AKNS equation. Some new Jacob/elliptic function solutions are obtained by using mathematica. When the modulus m→1, those periodic solutions degenerate as the corresponding soliton solutions.

In this paper, new Jacobi elliptic function solutions of multi-component mKdV equation are obtained directly in a unified way. When the modulus m → 1, those periodic solutions degenerate as the corresponding hyperbolic function solutions. Then, to the three-component mKdV equation, five types of effective solution are presented in detail.

Cemented and mechanically clamped types of end fittings(fitting-C and fitting-m)are commonly used in transform.r.*** the Luding ms 6.8 earthquake that occurred in China on September 5,2022,all transform.r.bushings with the two types of end fittings in a 500 kV substation were ***-earthquake field investigations were conducted,and the failures of the two types of bushings were *** elementary simulation models of the transform.r.bushing systems were developed to simulate the engineering failures,and further compute their seismic responses for *** results indicate that the hitch lugs of the connection flange are structurally harmful to seismic ***-m can decrease the bending stiffness of the bushing due to the flexible sealing rubber *** it provides a m.r. flexible connection that dissipates energy,the peak accelerations and relative displacements at the top of the bushing are significantly lower than those of the bushing with *** with fitting-C,fitting-m transfers the high-stress areas from the connection flange to the root of the porcelain,so the latter becomes the most vulnerable ***-m increases the failure risk of the low-strength porcelain,indicating the unsuitability of applying it in high-intensity fortification regions.

SiC/Si_3N_4 composite was pressureless sintered using self-propagating high-temperature combustion synthesis a-Si_3N_4 powder and appropriate amount of b-SiC powder. Both of the sintering additive systems were used,which were YAN（Y_2O_3–Al_2O_3–AlN） and YN（Y_2O_3–AlN）.The influences of b-SiC content on sintering behavior of SiC/Si_3N_4 composite were investigated. The results show that the density, shrinkage, bending strength, hardness, and fracture toughness of the samples with two sintering additive systems increase first with the increase of the contents of b-SiC and then decrease even when b-SiC contents continually increase. The tendency of weight loss of the samples is opposite. The b-SiC content of the samples with the best mechanical properties is different in two systems. For YAN system, the best mechanical properties of the samples are gained when b-SiC content reaches 10 %, while as for YN system it is 5 %. The properties of YN samples are superior to YAN samples. J phase（2Y_2O_3 ·Si_2N_2O） forms in YN system easily. A small amount of m phase（Y_2O_3·Si_3N_4） is observed in YAN system.

The aim of this study was to establish a model by single injection of Aβ1-40+IA into rat brain basal ganglion and examine the effect of ZDY101, an active component of a Yin tonic from Chinese traditional medicinal herb. The results showed that the amnestic effect of co-injection of Aβ and IA lasted for at least 2 months. At same time, the total m.r.ceptor density in model brain was significantly lower than blank control, indicating the change is profound enough for long term pathological studies or drug screening. It can be clearly seen that the decreased brain m.r.ceptor density caused by Aβ was significantly increased by ZDY101. Such an elevation effect was significantly correlated with dose of ZDY101 when the dose was examined in a certain reasonable range. It can also he clearly seen that such an elevation of m-cholinergic receptor density was significantly correlated with the im.r.vement of mem.r. which indicated that the increase of m-cholinergic receptor density was an important factor in im.r.ving the mem.r. of such animal model.

Analysis of microstructure and mechanical Properties of Ultrafine Grained Low Carbon Steel

A novel design scheme of hot stamping, quenching and partitioning process was conducted in a quenchable boron steel to obtain the nanometric duplex microstructure com.r.sing ultrafine retained austenite and m.r.ensite. It is shown that the materials possess excellent mechanical properties and the ductility can be further im.r.ved without com.r.mising the strength. The newly treated steel shows excellent mechanical properties and the total elongation of the steel increases from 6.6% to 14.8% compared with that of hot stamped and quenched steel. Therefore, this kind of steel has become another group of advanced high-strength steels. The microstructure which is mainly responsible for such excellent mechanical properties was investigated.
