Two synchronous somatostatinomas of the duodenum and pancreatic head in one patient

Somatostatinomas are extremely rare neuroendocrine tumors of the gastrointestinal tract,f irst described in the pancreas in 1977 and in the duodenum in *** may be functional and cause somatostatinoma or inhibi-tory syndrome,but more frequently are non-functioning pancreatic endocrine tumors that produce somatostatin *** are usually single,malignant,large lesions,frequently associated with metastases,and generally with poor *** present the unique case of a 57-year-old woman with two synchronous non-function-ing somatostatinomas,one solid duodenal lesion and one cystic lesion within the head of the pancreas,that were successfully resected with a pylorus-preserving Whipple's *** secondaries were found in the liver,or in any of the removed regional lymph *** patient had an uneventful recovery,and remains well and symptom-free at 18 mo *** is an extremely rare case of a patient with two synchro-nous somatostatinomas of the duodenum and the *** condition is discussed with reference to the literature.

Large nonlinearity at the single-photon level can pave the way for the implementation of universal quantum ***,realizing large and noiseless nonlinearity at such low light levels has been a great challenge for scientists in the past ***,we propose a scheme that enables substantial nonlinear interaction between two light fields that are both stored in an atomic *** and quantum simulations demonstrate the feasibility of achieving large cross-phase modulation(XPm)down to the single-photon *** proposed scheme can be used to implement parity gates from which CNOT gates can be ***,we present a proof of principle experimental demonstration of XPm between two optical pulses:one stored and one freely propagating through the memory medium.

In [Aghajani A, Abbas m, Roshan JR. Common fixed point of generalized weak contractive mappings in partially ordered Gb-metric spaces. Filomat, 2013, in press], using the concepts of G-metric and b-metric Aghajani et al. defined a new type of metric which is called generalized b-metric or Gb-metric. In this paper, we prove a common fixed point theorem for three mappings in Gb-metric space which is not continuous. An example is presented to verify the effectiveness and applicability of our main result.

Efficient complementary metal-oxide semiconductor-based nonlinear optical devices in the near-infrared are in strong *** to two-photon absorption in silicon,however,much nonlinear research is shifting towards unconventional photonics *** this work,we demonstrate the generation of an octave-spanning coherent supercontinuum in a silicon waveguide covering the spectral region from the near-to *** input pulses of 18 pJ in energy,the generated signal spans the wavelength range from the edge of the silicon transmission window,approximately 1.06 to beyond 2.4μm,with a−20 dB bandwidth covering 1.124–2.4μ*** octave-spanning supercontinuum was also observed at the energy levels as low as 4 pJ(−35 dB bandwidth).We also measured the coherence over an octave,obtaining|g_()12^(1)(λ)>90%,in good agreement with the *** addition,we demonstrate optimization of the third-order dispersion of the waveguide to strengthen the dispersive wave and discuss the advantage of having a soliton at the long wavelength edge of an octave-spanning signal for nonlinear *** research paves the way for applications,such as chip-scale precision spectroscopy,optical coherence tomography,optical frequency metrology,frequency synthesis and wide-band wavelength division multiplexing in the telecom window.
