Recent data suggest that cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator(CFTR)gene alterations negatively impact male fertility beyond *** sought to compare gene alterations,sperm retrieval rates,and intracytoplasmic sperm injection(ICSI)outcomes among men with cystic fibrosis(CF)disease and congenital bilateral absence of the vas deferens(CBAVD)*** retrospectively evaluated all men who underwent surgical sperm retrieval at two academic,high-volume andrology centers from 2010 to *** men with documented CFTR alterations and obstructive azoospermia from either CBAVD or CF were *** between groups for CFTR abnormality,sperm retrieval,and ICSI outcomes were statistically ***,39 patients were included with 10 in the CF and 29 in the CBAVD *** sperm retrieval rates were significantly lower in the CF group for sperm concentration(14.8×10^(6)ml^(-1)vs 61.4×10^(6)ml^(−1),P=0.02)and total motile sperm count(2.9 million vs 11.4 million,P=0.01).This difference was only predicted by homozygous delta F508 CFTR mutations(P<0.05).The CF group also demonstrated a significantly higher rate of rescue testicular sperm extraction(70.0%vs 27.6%,P<0.03)and lower fertilization rate with ICSI(32.5%vs 68.9%,P<0.01).In conclusion,those with CF demonstrated lower sperm quality,greater difficulty with sperm retrieval,and worse ICSI outcomes compared with CBAVD-only *** delta F508 CFTR mutations appear to significantly impair spermatogenesis and sperm function.

Establishment of pregnancy in pigs involves maintaining progesterone secretion from the corpora lutea in addition to regulating a sensitive interplay between the maternal immune system and attachment of the rapidly expanding trophoblast for nutrient absorption. The peri-implantation period of rapid trophoblastic elongation followed by attachment to the maternal uterine endometrium is critical for establishing a sufficient placental-uterine interface for subsequent nutrient transport for fetal survival to term, but is also marked by the required conceptus release of factors involved with stimulating uterine secretion of histotroph and modulation of the maternal immune system. Many endometrial genes activated by the conceptus secretory factors stimulate a tightly controlled proinflammatory response within the uterus. A number of the cytokines released by the elongating conceptuses stimulate inducible transcription factors such as nuclear factor kappa B （NFKB） potentially regulating the maternal uterine proinflammatory and immune response. This review will establish the current knowledge for the role of conceptus cytokine production and release in early development and establishment of pregnancy in the pig.

Transparency is a widely used but poorly defined term within the explainable artificial intelligence *** is due,in part,to the lack of an agreed definition and the overlap between the connected—sometimes used synonymously—concepts of interpretability and *** assert that transparency is the overarching concept,with the tenets of interpretability,explainability,and predictability *** draw on a portfolio of definitions for each of these distinct concepts to propose a human-swarm-teaming transparency and trust architecture(HST3-Architecture).The architecture reinforces transparency as a key contributor towards situation awareness,and consequently as an enabler for effective trustworthy human-swarm teaming(HST).

There has been an increasing emphasis on reducing the environmental impacts of penaeid trawls by modifying their anterior *** one Australian estuary,this approach has culminated in a new generic trawl comprising a slightly smaller mesh size,and steeper and shorter side panels than traditional trawls,combined with a top panel extending forwards of the bottom panel(termed‘lead-ahead’)and no headline *** study sought to investigate if an additional simple,cumulative modification(tickler chain)might help promote adoption of the new trawl,via improved penaeid *** volunteer fishers towing pairs of either the traditional or new trawls in double rigs were asked if an observer could accompany fishing trips,and alternately attach a light tickler chain(~3 kg)anterior to the ground gear of one *** of the trawl design,the tickler chains significantly increased the catch weights of penaeids,but relatively more so in the new trawls(by 1.11×vs 1.08×).The tickler chains also significantly increased the number and weight of total bycatch in the traditional trawls(by up to 1.22×),but not in the new trawls-although there were variable species-specific *** terms of total effects,the data support using tickler chains to increase the efficiency of the new trawls and their cumulative benefits,and could be promoted to facilitate broader inter-and intra-fleet adoption.

In this paper, Grain-like cascade feedback shift registers(FSRs) are regarded as two Boolean networks(BNs), and the semi-tensor product(STP) of the matrices is used to convert the Grain-like cascade FSRs into an equivalent linear equation. Based on the STP, a novel method is proposed herein to investigate the nonsingularity of Grain-like cascade FSRs. First, we investigate the property of the state transition matrix of Grain-like cascade FSRs. We then propose their sufficient and necessary nonsingularity condition. Next,we regard the Grain-like cascade FSRs as Boolean control networks(BCNs) and further provide a sufficient condition of their nonsingularity. Finally, two examples are provided to illustrate the results obtained in this paper.

A laboratory fluidized bed reactor was used to investigate the fluidization behavior and reducibility of various iron ore *** was chosen as a reducing agent across a temperature range of 873-1073 *** magnetite ore used exhibited strong sticking behavior after the initiation of metallic iron *** other tested ores fluidized sufficiently well when subjected to the same high reduction *** kinetic analysis was conducted using a previously developed model to include three rate-limiting step *** trend of apparent activation energy was correlated with the degree of ***,the influence of varying the specific gas rate was *** results show the variation in reducibility as a result of different interactions,which influence the rate-limiting mechanisms of nucleation and the undertaken chemical reactions,which vary as a function of temperature and degree of *** apparent activation energies,determined from the reduction of wtistite to metallic iron,were in the range of 15-60 kj/mol,depending on the iron ore used and the degree of *** change in apparent activation energy deriving from the increased specific gas rate can be explained by an increasing nucleation effect,especially at lower reduction temperatures.
