A hyperbranched poly（aryleneethynylene） containing anthracene chromophore was synthesized by palladiumcatalyzed cross-coupling reaction of 2,4,6-triiodophenyl 9-anthracenylcarboxylate with 9,9-bis[4-（2-propynyloxy）phenyl]- 9H-fluorene. The structure and properties of the polymer are characterized and evaluated by NMr, Ir, UV, PL and TGA analyses. The polymer is soluble in common organic solvents, possesses high thermal stability （Td 〉 330℃）, and emits a strong blue light of 465 nm in both solution and solid states.

The level and pattern of contamination by polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) were investigated in tilapia, Oreochromis mossambicus (Peters), sediment, and water from the Shing Mun river. The range of total PCBs was 12.9 ng/g to 181.6 ng/g wet weight in tilapia, 12.7 ng/g to 46.0 ng/g freeze-dried weight in sediment, and 3.8 ng/L to 13.6 ng/L in water. The effect of biomagnification was also observed, PCB concentrations increased from water to sediment to tilapia. PCB congeners occurred in such a way that lower chlorinated PCBs comprised a higher fraction of the total PCBs in water, sediment, and tilapia muscle, whereas higher chlorinated PCBs were more commonly found only in tilapia.

Poly（phenylacetylene）s beating monosaccharide pendant groups are synthesized in high yields by [rh（nbd）Cl]2 catalyst. The polymers have high molecular weights and give satisfactory spectroscopic data corresponding to their molecular structures. They are thermally quite stable （≥ 300℃） and show strong circular dichroism signals in the visible spectral region owing to the helicity of the polyene backbone. The monosaccharide-containing polyacetylenes are cytophilic and can stimulate the growth of living cells.

Powder dusting method is the most practically useful approach for latent fingerprint development in the crime scene. Herein, a general powder dusting method has been explored for latent fingerprint development based on aggregation-induced emission luminogens(AIEgens). A series of tetraphenylethene(TPE) derivatives with multiple diphenylamine(DPA), namely, TPE-DPA,TPE-2 DPA and TPE-4 DPA, were selected as candidates to dope with magnetic powders and applied for latent fingerprint development. After screening, the magnetic powder 3 doped with TPE-4 DPA proves to be the best, in terms of fluorescent intensity, resolution and adhesiveness. Afterwards, the magnetic powder 3 was applied for visualization of latent fingerprint on various smooth and porous substrates, including glass, stainless steel, leaf, ceram, plastic bag, lime wall, wood and paper *** details, such as island, core, termination and bifurcation, can be clearly observed for the fluorescent fingerprint images.

Decisions are often needed about the need and/or extent of protective measures against explosive blast loads on built infrastructure. A decision support analysis considers fatality risks and cost-effectiveness of protective measures expressed in terms of expected cost spent on risk reduction per life saved for terrorist threats to infrastructure. The analysis is applicable to any item of infrastructure, but in this paper is applied to casualties arising from building facade glazing damage. risks may be compared with risk acceptance criteria in the form of quantitative safety goals. The risk acceptability and cost-effectiveness of protective measures includes cost of the protective measures, attack probability,reduction in risk due to protective measures,probability of fatality conditional on successful terrorist attack and number of exposed individuals.

In this paper,an analytical model that represents the streamwise velocity distribution for open channel flow with submerged flexible vegetation is *** the present vegetated flow modelling,the whole flow field has been separated into two layers vertically: a vegetated layer and a non-vegetated free-water *** the vegetated layer,an analysis of the mechanisms affecting water flow through flexible vegetation has been *** the non-vegetated layer,a modified log-law equation that represents the velocity profile varying with vegetation height has been *** on the studied analytical model,a sensitivity analysis has been conducted to assess the influences of the drag (CD) and friction (Cf ) coefficients on the flow *** investigated ranges of CD and Cf have also been compared to published *** findings suggest that the CD and Cf values are non-constant at different depths and vegetation densities,unlike the constant values commonly suggested in *** phenomenon is particularly clear for flows with flexible vegetation,which is characterised by large deflection.
