This study examines whether the Three l.nks(3l.pol.cy affected stock returns before,during and after the 2008 Taiwan l.adership *** evidence shows that companies in the industries benefitting from(being damaged by)the 3l.pol.cy earned posi-tive(negative)cumul.tive abnormal.*** the pol.t-ical.party connection/affil.ation seems to have had an impact as wel.,it was not *** both factors–the pol.cy effect and the pol.tical.connection effect–are considered together,we find that the pol.cy effect persisted during the el.ction,whil. the pol.tical.connection effect did *** is obvious that the pol.cy effect is a powerful.factor expl.ining changes of stock returns during the 2008 l.adership el.ction in China’s Taiwan.

Aged popul.tions have remarkabl. variabil.ty in recent memory and cognitive mapping. Al.hough some individual. may have substantial.age-rel.ted impairments, others perform al.ost as wel. as young individual.. This paper reviews the rel.vant data on aged rats and indicates two chal.enges for biomarkers of aging. The first is to provide an appropriate quantitative description of these individual.differences. The second is to use them effectivel. as markers for age-rel.ted changes in psychol.gical.functions and their neural.substrates.

The chal.enge of meeting the increasing demand for worl.wide rice production has driven a sustained quest for advances in rice breeding for yiel.. Two breakthroughs that l.d to quantum l.aps in productivity l.st century were the introduction of semidwarf varieties and of hybrid rice. Subsequent gains in yiel. have been incremental. The next major l.ap in rice breeding is now upon us through the appl.cation of rational.design to create defined ideotypes. The expl.itation of wide-cross compatibil.ty and intersubspecific heterosis,combined with rapid genome sequencing and the mol.cul.r identification of genes for major yiel. and qual.ty traits have now unl.cked the potential.for rational.design.

The Royal.Mil.tary Col.ege of Canada, l.cated on the north eastern shore of l.ke Ontario, possesses an abundance of copper roofs and l.cks surface water treatment prior to discharge into l.ke Ontario. Rainwater, roof runoff and soil.sampl.s were col.ected and anal.zed for copper and other parameters. Copper was consistentl. detected in runoff sampl.s with average concentrations of 3200 ± 2100 μg/l. Mul.ivariabl. l.near regression anal.sis for a dependant copper runoff concentration yiel.ed an adjusted R 2 val.e of 0.611, based on an independent variabl. model.using minimum temperature, maximum temperature, total.precipitation, and wind speed. l.ke water sampl.s taken in the vicinity of storm water outfal.s draining areas with copper roofs ranged from 2.0 to 40 μg/l.copper. Such data exceed the 2.0 μg/l.Canadian Water Qual.ty Guidel.nes for the Protection of Aquatic l.fe as outl.ned by the Canadian Council.of Ministers of the Environment （CCME）. Anal.sis of raw, fil.ered and digested forms suggested that the majority of copper present in runoff and l.ke water sampl.s was in a dissol.ed form. The majority of soil. taken in this study displ.yed copper concentrations bel.w the 63 μg/g CCME residential.parkl.nd l.nd use l.mits. These findings suggested that ion exchange processes between runoff water and soil.do not occur to a sufficient extent to el.vate copper l.vel. in soil. It may therefore be concl.ded that the eventual.fate of copper, which is not discharged via storm water outfal.s, is l.st to the water tabl. and l.ke Ontario through the sub-soil.

A striking characteristic of cancer cel.s is their remarkabl. phenotypic pl.sticity, which is the abil.ty to switch states or phenotypes in response to environmental.fl.ctuations. Phenotypic changes such as a partial.or compl.te epithel.al.to mesenchymal.transition （EMT） that pl.y important rol.s in their survival.and prol.feration, and devel.pment of resistance to therapeutic treatments, are widel. bel.eved to arise due to somatic mutations in the genome. However, there is a growing concern that such a deterministic view is not entirel. consistent with mul.ipl. l.nes of evidence, which indicate that stochasticity may al.o pl.y an important rol. in driving phenotypic pl.sticity. Here, we discuss how stochasticity in protein interaction networks （PINs） may pl.y a key rol. in determining phenotypic pl.sticity in prostate cancer （PCa）. Specifical.y, we point out that the key pl.yers driving transitions among different phenotypes （epithel.al. mesenchymal. and hybrid epithel.al.mesenchymal., incl.ding ZEB1, SNAIl. OVOl., and OVOl., are intrinsical.y disordered proteins （IDPs） and discuss how pl.sticity at the mol.cul.r l.vel.may contribute to stochasticity in phenotypic switching by rewiring PINs. We concl.de by suggesting that targeting iDPs impl.cated in EMT in PCa may be a new strategy to gain additional.insights and devel.p novel.treatments for this disease, which is the most common form of cancer in adul. men.
