The National Institute for Educational Development(NIED)is a directorate within the Ministry of Basic Education,Arts and Culture(Mo EAC)in the republic of *** was established by act of parliament in 1990 to be responsible for the development and spearheading of basic education reform or the national curriculum for schools from pre-primary to grade 12/ advanced ***'s also responsible for the continuous professional development of *** to the poor economic status of the country and other emergencies such as pandemics,the ministry has put directives or changed the policy to discourage travelling allowances for staff members to conduct face-to-face workshops and seminars due to budgetary constraints;the National Institute for Educational Development(NIED)adopted the use of online mode to conduct continuous professional development of *** objective of this study was to describe internal,external and individual challenges faced by curriculum developers in terms of education provision to transition from offline to online teacher *** study was guided by three fundamental research questions,namely;what are the challenges facing curriculum developers in terms of education provision in transitioning from offline to online teacher training,what are the challenges facing curriculum developers in conducting teacher training using online medium and what are the suggestions from different departments and Institutions on how to solve the challenges faced by curriculum developers in using online medium to train teachers? Fungal cell-wall-degrading enzymes have great utility in the agricultural and food *** cell-wall-degrading enzymes are known to have functions that can help defend against pathogenic *** existing methods used to discover these enzymes are not well adapted to fungi culture and morphology,which prevents the proper evaluation of these *** report the first droplet-based microfluidic method capable of long-term incubation and low-voltage conditions to sort filamentous fungi inside nanoliter-sized *** new method was characterized and validated in solid-phase media based on colloidal chitin such that the incubation of single spores in droplets was possible over multiple days(2–4 days)and could be sorted without droplet *** long-term culture,we examined the activity of cell-wall-degrading enzymes produced by fungi during solid-state droplet fermentation using three highly sensitive fluorescein-based *** also used the low-voltage droplet sorter to select clones with highly active cell-wall-degrading enzymes,such as chitinases,β-glucanases,and β-Nacetylgalactosaminidases,from a filamentous fungi droplet library that had been incubated for>4 *** new system is portable,affordable for any laboratory,and user-friendly compared to classical droplet-based microfluidic *** propose that this system will be useful for the growing number of scientists interested in fungal microbiology who are seeking high-throughput methods to incubate and sort a large library of fungal cells.

Realizing highly immersive tactile interactions requires a skin-integrated,untethered,high-definition tactile transducer devices that can record and generate tactile ***,the rigid and bulky form factor,and insufficient resolution of existing actuators are hindering the reproduction of sophisticated tactile sensations and immersive user ***,we demonstrate an ultraflexible tactile interface with high spatial resolution of 1.8 mm for telehaptic communication on human *** mechanism sensors and sub-mm scale piezoceramic actuators are designed to record and generate the static and dynamic pressures in a wide frequency range(1 Hz to 1 kHz).Moreover,actuators are integrated on ultra-flexible substrate with chessboard pattern to minimize stress during mechanical ***,remote transmissions of various tactile stimuli,such as shapes,textures,and vibration patterns were demonstrated by the telehaptic system with low latency(<1.55 ms)and high fidelity as proven by the shorttime Fourier-transform analysis.

Investigation of the anisotropic confinement-dependent brittleness of a Utah coal

Changes of failure mechanism with increasing confinement,from extensional to shear-dominated failure,are widely observed in the rupture of intact specimens at the laboratory scale and in rock *** an analysis published in 2018,both unconfined and triaxial compressive tests were conducted to investigate the strength characteristics of 84 specimens of a Utah coal,including the spalling limits,the ratio of apparent unconfined compressive strength to unconfined compressive strength(UCS),the damage characteristics,and the post-yield *** mechanical characteristics were found to be strongly anisotropic as a function of the orientation of the cleats relative to the loading direction,defined as the included angle.A total of four different included angles were used in the work performed in *** authors found that the degree of anisotropic strength differed according to the included ***,the transition from extensional to shear failure at the given confinements was not clearly *** this study,a total of 20 specimens were additionally prepared from the same coal sample used in the previous study and then tested under both unconfined and triaxial compressive *** the authors already knew the most contrasting cases of the included angles from the previous work using the four included angles,they chose only two of the included angles(0°and 30°)for this *** the triaxial compressive tests,a greater confining stress than the mean UCS was applied to the specimens in an attempt to identify the brittle-ductile transition of the *** new results have been compiled with the previous results in order to re-evaluate the confinement-dependency of the coal ***,the different confining stresses are used as analogs for different width-to-height(W/H)conditions of pillar *** the W/H ratios of the specimens were not directly considered during testing,the equivalent W/H ratios of a pillar as a function of

Characterizing the performance of fluorescence microscopy and nonlinear imaging systems is an essential step required for imaging system optimization and quality control during longitudinal experiments. Emerging multimodal nonlinear imaging techniques require a new generation of microscopy calibration targets that are not susceptible to bleaching and can provide a contrast across the multiple modalities. Here, we present a nanodiamond-based calibration target for microscopy, designed for facilitating reproducible measurements at the object plane. The target is designed to support day-to-day instrumentation development efforts in microscopy laboratories. The images of a phantom contain information about the imaging performance of a microscopy system across multiple spectral windows and modalities. Since fluorescent nanodiamonds are not prone to bleaching, the proposed imaging target can serve as a standard, shelf-stable sample to provide rapid reference measurements for ensuring consistent performance of microscopy systems in microscopy laboratories and imaging facilities.
