We report on the novel heterometallic quaternary selenide EuCeCuSe3,the fabrication of which has been a challenge until this work.The structure of the reported selenide was elucidated from the powder X-ray diffraction data,which revealed the formation of EuCeCuSe3with excellent yield(96.7%)accompanied with a minor fraction of CeSe2(3.3%),and was best solved in orthorhombic space group pnma with the BaLaCuS3structural type.Thus,the crystal structure of the title compound completes the row of the heterometallic quaternary selenides EuRECuSe3(RE=La,pr,Nd,Sm,Eu,Gd,Tb,Dy,Ho,Er,Tm,Yb,Lu,Y),of which the cerium-based derivative exclusively belongs to the BaLaCuS3structural type.The distortion of the CuSe4polyhedron was compared for the whole series of EuRECuSe3compounds using theτ4-descriptor for four coordinated ions,which revealed the highest degree of distortion for the Ce3+-containing selenide,followed by the La3+-based derivative.Furthermore,the crystallographic and geometrical parameters of the reported selenide were discussed in comparison to the Ce3+-based sulfides SrCeCuS3and EuCeCuS3.Ab initio calculations of the crystal structure,a phonon spectrum and elastic constants for the crystal of EuCeCuSe3were also performed.The types and wavenumbers of fundame ntal modes were determined and the involvement of ions participating in the phonon modes was assessed.The experimental IR spectrum of the reported selenide was interpreted and found to be in agreement with the calculated spectrum.The experimental direct band gap of EuCeCuSe3was measured to be 1.36 eV that is consistent with the concept of its origin due to interband transitions between orbitals emerging mainly from 4f(valence band)and 5d(conduction band)levels of the Eu2+cation.The dependence of the Young’s modulus on the direction demonstrates the anisotropy of the elastic properties,while the Vickers hardness for EuCeCuSe3was calculated to be 5.2 Gpa.Finally,the title compound is paramagnetic above 4 K.

Excitons,bound electron–hole pairs,in two-dimensional hybrid organic inorganic perovskites(2D HOIps)are capable of forming hybrid light-matter states known as exciton-polaritons(E–ps)when the excitonic medium is confined in an optical cavity.In the case of 2D HOIps,they can self-hybridize into E–ps at specific thicknesses of the HOIp crystals that form a resonant optical cavity with the excitons.However,the fundamental properties of these self-hybridized E–ps in 2D HOIps,including their role in ultrafast energy and/or charge transfer at interfaces,remain unclear.Here,we demonstrate that>0.5µm thick 2D HOIp crystals on Au substrates are capable of supporting multiple-orders of self-hybridized E–p modes.These E–ps have high Q factors(>100)and modulate the optical dispersion for the crystal to enhance sub-gap absorption and emission.Through varying excitation energy and ultrafast measurements,we also confirm energy transfer from higher energy E–ps to lower energy E–ps.Finally,we also demonstrate that E–ps are capable of charge transport and transfer at interfaces.Our findings provide new insights into charge and energy transfer in E–ps opening new opportunities towards their manipulation for polaritonic devices.

Calcineurin(CN)is a calcium-and calmodulindependent serine/threonine that has been studied in many model organisms including yeast,filamentous fungi,plants,and mammals.Its biological functions range from ion homeostasis and virulence in lower eukaryotes to T-cell activation in humans by human nuclear factors of activated *** is a heterodimeric protein consisting of a catalytic subunit,calcineurin A(Cna1p),which contains an active site with a dinuclear metal center,and a regulatory Ca^(2+) binding subunit called calcineurin B(Cnb1p)required to activate Cna1p.The calcineurin B subunit has been highly conserved through evolution:For example,the mammalian calcineurin B shows 54%identity with calcineurin B from Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

Higher education plays an important role in all aspects of sustainability.Infusing climate change and sustainability into the curriculum is important to prepare future health-care professionals for climate change and sustainability actions to build resilient health systems.In this study,we evaluated the preparedness,knowledge,and perception regarding climate change and its impact on human health among Indian nursing students.A quantitative descriptive survey was conducted among 644 undergraduate nursing students studying in three institutes in the southern,northern,and western parts of India.We used a structured online questionnaire with established validity and reliability to collect data.The data were analyzed using Statistical package for the Social Sciences version 26 software.The results showed that more than half of the students reported experiencing excessive increase(362;56.2%)and decrease(374;58.1%)in temperature in recent years.Though more than three quarters of the students(494;76.7%)accepted the general truth that climate change is mainly caused by human activities,only less than half of the students(309;48.0%)perceived the impact of climate change to be high.Three quarters of the students(483;75.0%)had a high level of knowledge regarding climate change.The students who had a high level of knowledge about climate change exerted a high perceived impact of climate change(χ^(2)=75.47;ppatients.Most of the students who participated in the study had basic knowledge about climate change and its impact on human health.However,there is an observed gap between knowledge and their preparedness and confidence to engage in climate change actions.Hence,we propose to strengthen the nursing curriculum by integrating various curricular and co-curricular activi

BACKGROUND In traditional descriptions,the upper surface of the liver is smooth and convex,but deep depressions are variants that are present in 5%-40%of patients.We sought to determine the relationship between surface depressions and the diaphragm.AIM To use exploratory laparoscopy to determine the relationship between surface depressions and the diaphragm.METHODS An observational study was performed in all patients undergoing laparoscopic upper gastro-intestinal operations between January 1,2023 and January 20,2024.A thirty-degree laparoscope was used to inspect the liver and diaphragm.When surface depressions were present,we recorded patient demographics,presence of diaphragmatic bands,rib protrusions and/or any other source of compression during inspection.RESULTS Of 394 patients,343 had normal surface anatomy,and 51(12.9%)had prominent surface depressions on the liver.There was no significant relationship between the presence of surface depressions and gender nor the presence of rib projections.However,there was significant association between the presence of surface depressions and diaphragmatic muscular bands(pphragmatic-band theory has gained increased importance over other theories for surface depressions.Further studies are warranted using cross sectional imaging to confirm relationships with intersectional planes as well as beta-catenin assays in the affected liver parenchyma.

Management of severe spasticity with and without dystonia with intrathecal baclofen in the pediatric population:a cross-sectional study

Objective To investigate the differences in delivery mode,daily dose,and catheter tip location in pediatric patients using intrathecal baclofen(ITB)pumps with spasticity plus dystonia versus spasticity alone.Methods A single-center,cross-sectional study was performed by collecting retrospective data from electronic medical records.Demographic and diagnostic information was obtained,comparing patients with spasticity with or without dystonia.The data were analyzed for group differences using a two-tailed Student’s t-test.Categorical data were analyzed for group differences using pearson’s χ^(2) test.Results A total of 137 patients met the criteria.The majority(114)had spasticity plus dystonia whereas only 23 were documented as spasticity alone.Simple continuous dosing was the most common delivery mode,but flex dosing was used more than twice as frequently with spasticity plus dystonia compared with spasticity alone(42%vs 17%).patients with spasticity plus dystonia also had more rostral catheter tip locations.Conclusions While it has been discussed anecdotally,this study confirms the supposition that patients with spasticity plus dystonia have increased dose requirements when compared with those with spasticity alone.Although there are no clear standards of care when managing these patients,they are often on higher daily dosages,are more likely to require flexed dosing method,and have higher catheter placements.Still,there are few studies that demonstrate improvements in dystonia with the use of ITB.In general,these patients would benefit from the development of universal standardizations as well as the confirmation that this is an appropriate treatment.

Mutual Authentication protocols for RFID Systems

With the availability of low-cost radio frequency identification (RFID) tags,security becomes an increasing concern. However,such tags do not permit complex cryptographic functions due to their computational,communications,and storage limitations. In this paper,we investigate the security issues and requirements of RFID systems,and propose ultra-light weight and light weight protocols for low-cost RFID tags.The proposed protocols has been applied to a supply chain management system.

通过高速摄影结合图像处理算法,研究气体流量和喷嘴直径对气泡尺寸和纵横比分布的影响。结果表明,在所有喷嘴直径下,气泡当量直径的概率密度呈现双峰分布,其中第一个峰值接近直径为1.5~2 mm的小气泡区域,另一个峰值位于较大的气泡区域。将气体流量从0.1 L/min增加到0.2 L/min会导致大气泡的概率密度更高,表明气泡聚并现象普遍存在。当气体流量增加至1.2L/min时,峰值对应的气泡直径变小,并且气泡破裂占主导地位。对于直径为1~2 mm的气泡,形状受气体流量的影响较小,而3~9 mm的气泡在所有气体流量下气泡纵横比概率密度分布的峰值均位于纵横比E=0.5处。Iguchi和Chihara提出的模型能更好地预测气泡脱离直径随气体流量的增大的变化。
