The new results, ba.ed on the coefficient of va.ia.ion （CV） of the number of veins, indica.e tha. Recent species ca. be more va.ia.le tha. fossil species a.d therefore do not support the theory. The results a.so show tha. a. lea.t 30 complete wings of the sa.e species a.e required for a.relia.le CV va.ue tha. is compa. ra.le between species.

Tissue engineering a.lows the design of functiona.ly a.tive cells within supportive bio-sca.folds to promote the development of new tissues such a. ca.tila.e a.d bone for the restora.ion of pa.hologica.ly a.tered tissues. However, a.l bone tissue engineering a.plica.ions a.e limited by a.shorta.e of stem cells. The a.ult bone ma.row stroma.conta.ns a.subset of nonhema.opoietic cells referred to a. bone ma.row mesenchyma. stem cells （BMSCs）. BMSCs a.e of interest beca.se they a.e ea.ily isola.ed from a.sma.l a.pira.e of bone ma.row a.d rea.ily genera.e singlecell-derived colonies. These cells ha.e the ca.a.ity to undergo extensive replica.ion in a. undifferentia.ed sta.e ex vivo. In a.dition, BMSCs ha.e the potentia. to develop either in vitro or in vivo into distinct mesenchyma. tissues,including bone, ca.tila.e, fa., tendon, muscle, a.d ma.row stroma. Thus, BMSCs a.e a. a.tra.tive cell source for tissue engineering a.proa.hes. Whether mining a.tivity results in reduced flow of surfa.e wa.er in the Pea.e River Wa.ershed of Florida.ha. been the subject of much deba.e. With increa.ed dependence of downstrea. users on surfa.e wa.er flow of the Pea.e River a. a.source of drinking wa.er for four coa.ta. counties in Southwest Florida.a.d problems of wa.er security, the deba.e ha. been intensified. It is possible to a.sess rela.ionships of mining with strea.flow in the upper rea.hes of the Pea.e River Ba.in using hydrologic modeling a.d identify mined sub-ba.ins. In this work, la.d-use cha.ge impa.ts were simula.ed by the Hydrologica. Simula.ion Progra.—Fortra.(HSPF) model ba.ed on geogra.hica. informa.ion system(GIS) tools, to compa.e pre- a.d post-mining strea.flows a. a.study site of the Pea.e River in west-centra. Florida. The purpose of this study wa. to determine if la.d-use cha.ges ca.sed by mining ha.e nega.ively impa.ted strea.flow in the Pea.e River. Cha.ges of la.d use were identified before a.d a.ter mining a.tivities. a.coupled volume-wa.er depth-discha.ge(V-h-Q) model ba.ed on sta.e/stora.e a.d sta.e/discha.ge wa. a.plied using HSPF for the pre-mining a.d post-mining models, respectively. Da.ly simula.ed post-mining hydrogra.hs from HSPF were plotted with the ca.ibra.ed pre-mining results a.d strea.flow hydrogra.hs from the 18 ga.ging sta.ions, to compa.e timing of pea.s, low flows a.d flow trends. a.a.yses of percent exceeda.ces of flow frequency curves of the strea.s indica.ed tha. most strea.s ha. simila. distributions for mined(recla.med) a.d premining periods. In the strea.flow cha.ge a.a.ysis, strea.flows a.tua.ly increa.ed in mining-a.fected ba.ins a. nea.ly ha.f the sta.ions. Strea.flows a. other sta.ions diminished. Integra.ing structures ma.e from a.uminum a.loys in a.tomotive industry requires a.la.ge a.ount of joining. a. a.consequence, the properties of the joints ha.e a.significa.t influence on the overa.l performa.ce of the whole structure. Robot cold meta. tra.sfer welding is a.rela.ively new joining technique a.d ha. been used in this work to join 6082-T4 a.d 5182-O a.uminum a.loy sheets by using ER5356 a.d ER4043 filler meta.s. Microstructure cha.a.teriza.ion wa. performed by optica. microscopy a.d energy dispersive X-ra. spectroscopy, a.d the mecha.ica. properties were mea.ured by tensile a.d ha.dness tests. a.correla.ion is ma.e between welding va.ia.les, mecha.ica. properties a.d the microstructure of welded joints. Results indica.e tha. robot cold meta. tra.sfer welding provides good joint efficiency with high welding speed, good tensile strength, a.d ductility. Owing to the low hea. input of robot cold meta. tra.sfer welding process, the hea. a.fected zone microstructure wa. quite simila. to ba.e meta.s, a.d weld meta. microstructure wa. the controlling fa.tor of joint efficiency. The best performing were the 5182/5182 joints welded with ER5356 a.d these ha. mecha.ica. property coefficients of 100%, 98%, a.d 85% for yield strength, ultima.e tensile strength, a.d elonga.ion, respectively.

X-linked hypophospha.emia.(XLH) is a.ra.e disea.e of eleva.ed fibrobla.t growth fa.tor 23 (FGF23) production tha. lea.s tohypophospha.emia.a.d impa.red minera.iza.ion of bone a.d teeth. The clinica. ma.ifesta.ions of XLH include a.high preva.ence ofdenta. a.scesses a.d periodonta. disea.e, likely driven by poorly formed structures of the dentoa.veola. complex, including thea.veola. bone, cementum, dentin, a.d periodonta. liga.ent. Our previous studies ha.e demonstra.ed tha. sclerostin a.tibody (Scla.) trea.ment improves phospha.e homeosta.is, a.d increa.es long bone ma.s, strength, a.d minera.iza.ion in the Hyp mousemodel of XLH. In the current study, we investiga.ed whether Scl-a. impa.ts the dentoa.veola. structures of Hyp mice. Ma.e a.dfema.e wild-type a.d Hyp litterma.es were injected with 25 mg·kg−1 of vehicle or Scl-a. twice weekly beginning a. 12 weeks of a.ea.d eutha.ized a. 20 weeks of a.e. Scl-a. increa.ed a.veola. bone ma.s in both ma.e a.d fema.e mice a.d a.veola. tissue minera.density in the ma.e mice. The positive effects of Scl-a. were consistent with a. increa.e in the fra.tion of a.tive(nonphosphoryla.ed) β-ca.enin, dentin ma.rix protein 1 (DMP1) a.d osteopontin sta.ned a.veola. osteocytes. Sexua. dysfunction a.d prosta.e ca.cer a.e common a.ong older men. Few studies explored the a.socia.ion between these two illnesses. We exa.ined whether sexua. function is a.socia.ed with prosta.e ca.cer risk a.ong older men. a.ong 448 men undergoing prosta.e biopsy a. the Durha. Vetera.s a.fa.rs Hospita., sexua. function wa. a.certa.ned from the Expa.ded Prosta.e Ca.cer Index Composite sexua. a.sessment. We tested the link between sexua. function a.d prosta.e ca.cer risk a.justing for multiple demogra.hic a.d clinica. cha.a.teristics using logistic regression. Multinomia. logistic regression wa. used to test the a.socia.ions with risk of low-gra.e （Glea.on 〈6） a.d high-gra.e （Glea.on 〉7 or 〉4 ＋ 3） disea.e versus no ca.cer. Of 448 men, 209 （47%） ha. a.positive biopsy; these men were less likely to be white （43% vs 55%, P=0.013）, ha. higher prosta.e-specific a.tigen （PSa. （6.0 vs 5.4 ng ml-1, P 〈 0.001）, but with lower mea. sexua. function score （47 vs 54, P = 0.007）. There wa. no difference in a.e, BMI, pa.k yea.s smoked, history of hea.t disea.e a.d/or dia.etes. a.ter a.justing for ba.eline differences, sexua. function wa. linked with a.decrea.ed risk of overa.l prosta.e ca.cer risk （OR. 0.91 per lO-point cha.ge in sexua. function, P= 0.004） a.d high-gra.e disea.e whether defined a. Orthogna.hic surgery is frequently a.compa.ied by interma.illa.y fixa.ion. Interma.illa.y fixa.ion impedes the ma.ntena.ce of effective ora. hygiene a.d prolonged fixa.ion ca. result in periodonta. disea.e. a.potentia. shorter term effect is the genera.ion of ora. ma.odour. It is unclea., however, a. to how the production of ma.odorous compounds in the ora. ca.ity is a.tered post-surgery. Ora. a.r concentra.ion of sulphur conta.ning compounds, short cha.n orga.ic a.ids, a.monia. isoprene a.d a.etone were mea.ured using selected ion flow tube-ma.s spectrometry in a.pa.ient who ha. undergone orthogna.hic surgery with subsequent interma.illa.y fixa.ion. Tota. sulphide levels rose a.proxima.ely 5-fold during fixa.ion with meta. ties, with sma.ler increa.es recorded for the other compounds mea.ured with the exception of isoprene which rema.ned close to ba.eline levels. Orga.ic a.id levels declined ma.kedly once ela.tic ties ha. repla.ed meta. ties, with a.lesser reduction being observed in sulphide levels, with both declining further a.ter the commencement of a.chlorhexidineconta.ning mouthwa.h. The sa.ple site tempera.ure of -9.6 12 indica.es tha. the unique gla.iochemica. re- cord wa. well preserved a.d suita.le for the reconstruction of a.r pollution levels in this previously un- explored region. Sa.ples were a.a.yzed for ma.or ions （Na., K＋, Ca.＋, Mg2＋, NH4＋, Cl-, SO42-, NO3-, HCOO＇, a.d CHa.OO）. NO3 a.d SO42were cha.a.terized by significa.t high levels of pollution con- centra.ion. Most a.r ma.ses ba.kwa.d tra.ectories ending in December 2008 ha.e pa.sed the Urumqi City center, while some even tra.eled a.ross the prima.y nuclea. wea.ons testing venue of the former Soviet Union （STS）. The mea. pH va.ue of snow sa.ples is coincident with the a.era.e va.ue of Urumqi＇s a.rosol, a.d the ra.io of [NO3-]/[SO42-] in the snow pit genera.ly a.rees with the va.ue of the Urumqi winter a.rosols. In a.dition, the [HCOO]/[CH3COO] ra.io of snow sa.ples is only 0.7, lower tha. unity. These a.a.yses indica.e tha. SO42 a.d NO3in the Bogda.Gla.ier a.e the result of a.thropo- genic pollutions.
