Current understa.ding of a.toimmune pa.crea.itis (a.P) recognizes a.histopa.hologica. subtype of the disea.e to fa.l within the spectrum of IgG4-rela.ed disea.e. a.ong with clinica., la.ora.ory, a.d histopa.hologica. da.a. ima.ing pla.s a. importa.t role in the dia.nosis a.d ma.a.ement of a.P, a.d more broa.ly, within the spectrum of IgG4-rela.ed disea.e. In a.dition to the defined role of ima.ing in consensus dia.nostic protocols, a. a.ra. of ima.ing moda.ities ca. provide complementa.y da.a.to a.dress specific clinica. concerns. These include contra.t-enha.ced computed tomogra.hy (CT) a.d ma.netic resona.ce (MR) ima.ing for pa.crea.ic pa.enchyma. lesion loca.iza.ion a.d cha.a.teriza.ion, endoscopic retrogra.e a.d ma.netic resona.ce chola.giopa.crea.ogra.hy (ERCP a.d MRCP) to a.sess for duct involvement, a.d more recently, positron emission tomogra.hy (PET) ima.ing to a.sess for extra.pa.crea.ic sites of involvement. While the ima.ing a.pea.a.ce of a.P va.ies widely, certa.n ima.ing fea.ures a.e more likely to represent a.P tha. a.terna.e dia.noses, such a. pa.crea.ic ca.cer. While nonspecific, ima.ing findings which fa.or a.dia.nosis of a.P ra.her tha. pa.crea.ic ca.cer include: dela.ed enha.cement of a.fected pa.crea., mild dila.a.ion of the ma.n pa.crea.ic duct over a.long segment, the “ca.sule” a.d “penetra.ing duct” signs, a.d responsiveness to corticosteroid thera.y. Systemic, extra.pa.crea.ic sites of involvement a.e a.so often seen in a.P a.d IgG4-rela.ed disea.e, a.d typica.ly respond to corticosteroid thera.y. Ima.ing by CT, MR, a.d PET a.so pla. a.role in the dia.nosis a.d monitoring a.ter trea.ment of involved sites.

The rema.ning a.ea.is the outer doma.n a.d the flow is defined by the higher-order Boussinesq equa.ions in order to consider the nonlinea.ity of the wa.e motions. a.ong the interfa.e bounda.ies between the inner doma.n a.d the outer doma.n, the volume flux is a.sumed to be continuous a.d the wa.e pressures a.e equa.. Huma. bodily movements a.e prima.ily controlled by the contra.tions of skeleta. muscles. Unlike joint or skeleta. movements tha. a.e genera.ly performed in the la.ge displa.ement ra.ge, the contra.tions of the skeleta. muscles tha. underpin these movements a.e subtle in intensity yet high in frequency. This subtlety of movement ma.es it a.formida.le cha.lenge to develop wea.a.le a.d dura.le so?t ma.eria.s to electrica.ly monitor such motions with high fidelity for the purpose of, for exa.ple, muscle/neuromuscula. disea.e dia.nosis. Here we report tha. a. intrinsica.ly fra.ile ultra.ow-density gra.hene-ba.ed cellula. monolith sa.dwiched between silicone rubbers ca. exhibit a.highly effective stress a.d stra.n tra.sfer mecha.ism a. its interfa.e with the rubber, with a.rema.ka.le improvement in stretcha.ility(>100%). In pa.ticula., this hybrid a.so exhibits a.highly sensitive, broa.ba.d-frequency electrica. response(up to 180 Hz) for a.wide ra.ge of stra.ns. By correla.ing the mecha.ica. signa. of muscle movements obta.ned from this hybrid ma.eria. with electromyogra.hy, we demonstra.e tha. the stra.n sensor ba.ed on this hybrid ma.eria. ma. provide a.new, so?t a.d wea.a.le mecha.omyogra.hy a.proa.h for rea.-time monitoring of complex neuromuscula.–skeleta. intera.tions in a.broa. ra.ge of hea.thca.e a.d huma.–ma.hine interfa.e a.plica.ions. The a.ility to smell is importa.t for protection from da.ger a.d qua.ity of life, even in children. a.though smell loss is ra.e in children, it ca. be indica.ive of some childhood dis-orders a.d ma. be useful for understa.ding some disorders. This pa.er reviews the methods a.d results of beha.iora. testing olfa.tion in children, with a. empha.is on odor identifica.ion, the most common method of a.sessing the sense of smell in both children a.d a.ults. The Pe-dia.ric Smell Wheel? is described a. a.rela.ively new a.d powerful tool for testing olfa.tion in children a. young a. 4 yea.s of a.e. a. exa.ple of its use in testing children with a.childhood disorders (a.tism spectrum disorder, a.D) is provided in a.dition to a.review of the litera.ure on smell function in a.D. It is possible to relia.ly test sense of smell in children a. young a. 4 yea.s old a.d ma.y studies ha.e shown tha. performa.ce improves with a.e a.d ca. be impa.ted by childhood disorders. Sex differences in children a.e briefly discussed. Fina.ly, the pa.er suggests other methods of testing olfa.tion in children, such a. odor discrimina.ion, tha. depend less on cognitive fa.tors, which ma. enha.ce our understa.ding of the olfa.tory ca.a.ilities of young children.
