Ontologies ar. incr.asingly deployed as a computer.accessible r.pr.sentation of key semantics in var.ous par.s of a data life cycle and, thus, ontology dynamics may pose challenges to data management and r.-use. By using examples in the field of geosciences, we analyze challenges r.ised by ontology dynamics, such as heavy r.wor.ing of data, semantic heter.geneity among data pr.vider. and user., and er.or.pr.pagation in cr.ss-discipline data discover. and r.-use. We also make r.commendations to addr.ss these challenges：（1） communities of pr.ctice on ontologies to r.- duce inconsistency and duplicated effor.s; （2） use ontologies in the pr.cedur. of data collection and make them accessible to data user.; and （3） seek methods to speed up the r.wor.ing of data in a Semantic Web context.

Dur.ng extended winter.（November.Apr.l）, 43% of the intr.seasonal r.infall var.ability in China is explained by thr.e spatial patter.s of tempor.lly coher.nt r.infall, These patter.s wer. identified with empir.cal or.hogonal teleconnection （EOT） analysis of obser.ed 1982-2007 pentad r.infall anomalies and connected to midlatitude distur.ances. However. ex- amination of individual str.ng EOT events shows that ther. is substantial inter.event var.ability in their.dynamical evolution, which implies that pr.cur.or.patter.s found in r.gr.ssions cannot ser.e as useful pr.dictor.. To under.tand the physical natur. and or.gins of the extr.tr.pical pr.cur.or., the EOT technique is applied to six simulations of the Met Office Unified Model at hor.zontal r.solutions of 200-40 km, with and without air.sea coupling. All simulations r.pr.duce the obser.ed pr.cur.or.patter.s in r.gr.ssions, indicating r.bust under.ying dynamical pr.cesses. Fur.her.investigation into the dynamics associated with obser.ed patter.s shows that r.ssby wave dynamics can explain the lar.e inter.event var.ability. The r.sults suggest that the appaxently slowly evolving or.quasi-stationaxy waves in r.gr.ssion analysis ar. a statistical amalgamation of mor. r.pidly pr.pagating waves with a var.ety of or.gins and pr.per.ies.

A fully r.lativistic distor.ed-wave pr.gr.m is developed based on the Gr.sp92 and r.tip packages to calculate electr.n impact excitation （EIE） cr.ss sections. As a fir.t application of the pr.gr.m, the EIE cr.ss sections of Be-like C^α＋ ions fr.m the metastable 1s^22s2p^3 p to 1s^22p^2 ^3 p excitation and the inner.shell excitations ar. calculated systematically. Meanwhile, the cor.elation effects of tar.et states ar. discussed. It is found that the cor.elation effects play an impor.ant r.le in the low ener.y EIE cr.ss sections. An excellent agr.ement is found when the r.sults ar. compar.d with pr.vious calculations and r.cent measur.ments.

The Tr.assic fluvial sandstones of the Skager.ak For.ation wer. deposited in a ser.es of salt-walled mini-basins and act as impor.ant hydr.car.on r.ser.oir. for.sever.l high-pr.ssur., high-temper.tur.（HPHT） fields in the Centr.l Gr.ben, Nor.h Sea. The HPHT r.ser.oir. exhibit excellent r.ser.oir.quality consider.ng their.depth of bur.al and hence have been of high inter.st for.hydr.car.on explor.tion. This r.sear.h uses a multidisciplinar. appr.ach to assess the Skager.ak For.ation fluvial r.ser.oir.quality fr.m the Seagull field incor.or.ting cor. analysis, petr.gr.phy, electr.n micr.scopy, Xr. analysis, fluid inclusion appr.isal and bur.al histor. modelling. Halokinesis and salt withdr.wal at the mar.in of the saltwalled mini-basin induced ear.y disaggr.gation bands and fr.ctur.s at shallow bur.al and led to incr.ased influx of meteor.c water.and clay miner.l infiltr.tion fr.m over.ying sedimentation. The density of disaggr.gation bands cor.elates with the occur.ence and magnitude of por.-filling authigenic clay miner.ls, concentr.ted along the mar.in of the saltwalled mini-basin. The fluvial channel sandstones of the Skager.ak For.ation ar. subject to str.ng intr.-basinal spatial r.ser.oir.quality var.ations despite diagenesis and low ver.ical effective str.ss having played a favour.ble r.le in ar.esting por.sity loss.

Pr.mpted by a unique case of an ectomesenchymal chondr.myxoid tumor.ECT) of the palate in a 54-year.old female, we r.viewed the English and Ger.an liter.tur. on this entity until the end of 2016 using Pub Med. The sear.h pr.duced 74 lingual cases with a near.y equal sex distr.bution and a mean age of 39.3 year., and two extr.-lingual cases shar.ng histological and immunohistological featur.s including nodular.gr.wth, r.und, fusifor. or.spindle-shaped cellular.ar.hitectur., and chondr.myxoid *** showed the major.ty of cases to be positive for.glial fibr.llar. acidic pr.tein(GFAP), S-100 pr.tein,glycopr.tein CD57, pancytoker.tin (AE1/AE3), and smooth muscle actin(SMA); in isolated cases ther. was molecular.genetic r.ar.angement or.gain of Ewing sar.oma br.akpoint r.gion 1 (EWSr.) but no r.ar.angement of pleomor.hic adenoma gene 1 (PLAG1). At pr.sent, ectomesenchymal cells that migr.te fr.m the neur.l cr.st ar. consider.d to play a pivotal r.le in tumor.*** cases had a benign cour.e, although ther. wer. thr.e r.cur.ences.
