BACKGROUND Incidental pulmonary nodules are an increasingly common finding on computed tomography(CT)scans of the thorax due to the exponential rise in CT examin-ations in ev.ryday *** majority of incidental pulmonary nodules are benign and correctly identifying the small number of malignant nodules is ***-low-dose CT(ULDCT)has been shown to be effectiv. in diagnosis of respiratory pathology in comparison with traditional standard dose *** hypothesis was that ULDCT chest combined with model-based iterativ. reconstruction(MBIR)is comparable to standard dose CT(SDCT)chest in the analysis of pulmonary nodules with significant reduction in radiation *** To prospectiv.ly compare ULDCT chest combined with MBIR with SDCT chest in the analysis of solid pulmonary *** A prospectiv. cohort study was conducted on adult patients(n=30)attending a respiratory medicine outpatient clinic in a tertiary referral univ.rsity hospital for surv.illance of prev.ously detected indeterminate pulmonary nodules on SDCT *** study inv.lv.d the acquisition of a reference SDCT chest followed immediately by an ULDCT *** identification,nodule characterisation,nodule measurement,objectiv. and subjectiv. image quality and radiation dose were compared between ULDCT with MBIR and SDCT *** One hundred solid nodules were detected on ULDCT chest and 98 on SDCT *** was no significant difference in the characteristics of correctly identified nodules when comparing SDCT chest to ULDCT chest ***-to-noise ratio was significantly increased in the ULDCT chest in all areas except in the paraspinal muscle at the maximum cardiac diameter lev.l(Pv. image quality score for ov.rall diagnostic acceptability was 8.9/*** mean dose length product,computed tomography v.lume dose index and effectiv. dose for the ULDCT chest protocol were 5.592 ***,0.16 mGy and 0.08 mSv.*** were sign

AIM:To propose an alternativ. model of hepatic encephalopathy(HE) in mice,resembling the human features of the ***:Mice receiv.d two consecutiv. intraperitoneal injections of thioacetamide(TAA) at low dosage(300 mg/kg).Liv.r injury was assessed by serum transaminase lev.ls(ALT) and liv.r histology(hematoxylin and eosin).Neutrophil infiltration was estimated by confocal liv.r intrav.tal *** was ev.luated using prolonged prothrombin and partial thromboplastin *** parameters were measured through tail *** lev.ls were quantified in serum and brain ***(EEG) and psychomotor activ.ty score were performed to show brain *** edema was ev.luated using magnetic resonance ***:Mice submitted to the TAA regime dev.loped massiv. liv.r injury,as shown by elev.tion of serum ALT lev.ls and a high degree of liv.r *** intense hepatic neutrophil accumulation occurred in response to TAA-induced liv.r *** led to mice mortality and weight loss,which was associated with sev.re ***,TAA-treated mice presented with increased serum and cerebral lev.ls of ammonia,in parallel with alterations in EEG spectrum and discrete brain edema,as shown by magnetic resonance *** agreement with this,neuropsychomotor abnormalities ensued 36 h after TAA,fulfilling sev.ral HE features observ.d in *** this context of liv.r injury and neurological dysfunction,we observ.d lung inflammation and alterations in blood pressure and heart rate that were indicativ. of multiple organ dysfunction ***:In summary,we describe a new murine model of hepatic encephalopathy comprising multiple features of the disease in humans,which may prov.de new insights for treatment.

BACKGROUND Interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome(IC/BPS)is an at least 6-mo noninfectious bladder inflammation of unknown origin characterized by chronic suprapubic,abdominal,and/or pelv.c *** the term cystitis suggests an inflammatory or infectious origin,no definite cause has been *** occurs in both sexes,but women are twice as much *** To systematically rev.ew ev.dence of psychiatric/psychological changes in persons with IC/*** Hypothesizing that particular psychological characteristics could underpin IC/BPS,we inv.stigated in three databases the presence of psychiatric symptoms and/or disorders and/or psychological characteristics in patients with IC/BPS using the following strategy:("interstitial cystitis"OR"bladder pain syndrome")AND("mood disorder"OR depressiv. OR antidepressant OR depression OR depressed OR hyperthymic OR mania OR manic OR rapid cyclasterisk OR dysthymiasterisk OR dysphoriasterisk).RESULTS On September 27,2023,the PubMed search produced 223 articles,CINAHL 62,and the combined PsycLIT/PsycARTICLES/PsycINFO/Psychology and Behav.oral Sciences Collection search *** on *** produced 14 studies,of which none had av.ilable *** were peer-rev.ewed articles reporting psychiatric/psychological symptoms in patients with IC/BPS,i.e.63 articles spanning from 2000 to October *** studies identified depression and anxiety problems in the IC/BPS population,along with sleep problems and the tendency to *** Psychotherapies targeting catastrophizing and life stress emotional awareness and expression reduced perceiv.d pain in women with IC/*** concepts should be considered when implementing treatments aimed at reducing IC/BPS-related pain.

BACKGROUND Inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD)hav. been associated with a low quality of life(QoL)and a negativ. impact on work productiv.ty compared to the general *** about disease control,patient-reported outcomes(PROs),treatment patterns and use of healthcare resources is relev.nt to optimizing IBD *** To describe QoL and work productiv.ty and activ.ty impairment(WPAI),treatment patterns and use of healthcare resources among IBD patients in *** A multicenter cross-sectional study included adult outpatients who were prev.ously diagnosed with moderate to sev.re Crohn’s disease(CD)or ulcerativ. colitis(UC).At enrolment,activ. CD and UC were defined as hav.ng a Harv.y Bradshaw Index≥8 or a CD Activ.ty Index≥220 or calprotectin>200μg/g or prev.ous colonoscopy results suggestiv. of inadequate control(per inv.stigator criteria)and a 9-point partial Mayo score≥5,*** PRO assessment included the QoL questionnaires SF-36 and EQ-5D-5L,the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Questionnaire(IBDQ),and the WPAI *** about healthcare resources and treatment during the prev.ous 3 years was collected from medical ***-square,Fisher’s exact and Student’s t-/Mann-Whitney U tests were used to compare PROs,treatment patterns and the use of healthcare resources by disease activ.ty(α=0.05).RESULTS Of the 407 patients in this study(CD/UC:64.9%/35.1%,mean age 42.9/45.9 years,54.2%/56.6%female,38.3%/37.1%employed),44.7%/25.2%presented moderate-to-sev.re CD/UC activ.ty,respectiv.ly,at *** in median v.lues for CD/UC,respectiv.ly,the SF-36 physical component was 46.6/44.7 and the mental component was 45.2/44.2,the EQ-v.sual analog scale score was 80.0/70.0,and the IBDQ ov.rall score was 164.0/*** to sev.re activ.ty,female gender,being unemployed,a lower educational lev.l and lower income were associated with lower QoL(Pv.ty impairment was 20%and 5%for CD and UC patients,re
