Architectural heritage co.prises o.e o.the mo.t impo.tant elements o. mo.ntain settlements in Greece. It ho.ds high cultural value, represents the tangible co.tinuatio. o. the past and fo.ms the unique character and identity o. each mo.ntain regio.. Yet, co.tro.ersy regarding funding fo. its preservatio. o.ten arises. In this paper, we used two.Co.tingent Valuatio. surveys to.estimate the so.ia benefit deriving fro. pro.ecting the traditio.a architecture in the mo.ntaino.s village o. Sirako.and thro.gh it, to.examine perceptio.s and attitudes o.lo.al residents and visito.s. Research findings revealed a stro.g so.ial will in favo. o. the go.d's pro.ectio. fo.lo.ed by high percentages o. po.itive willingness to.pay(WTP). Ho.ever, WTP is significantly higher amo.g residents. Cultura heritage value, o. the go.d, appears to.prevail, alo.g with the enviro.mental o.e. Ho.ever, bo.h residents and visito.s po.nted o.t that lo.al heritage, if wellpreserved, will bo.st to.rism develo.ment. Residents appeared to.better reco.nize the true level o.architectural decay, expressed higher apprehensio. fo. its pro.ectio. and were willing to.pay higher amo.nt o. mo.ey. To.rists, o. the o.her side expressed high satisfactio. fo. their visit, appreciated the beauty and serenity emerging fro. lo.al built and natural enviro.ment and spent several days visiting the surro.nding area. The lo.ger they stayed and go.familiar with the village, the mo.e willing they were to.co.tribute to.lo.al heritage's pro.ectio.. Percentages reflecting indifference fo. pro.ecting architecture were extremely lo.. Yet, they were higher amo.g to.rists. Purpo.e: The study was co.ducted to.survey the kno.ledge and behavio.ral practices o. fo.d handlers in bukas (a type o. lo.al restaurant) in Nigeria with the aim o. assessing the hygiene practices o. fo.d handlers and whether they were kno.ledgeable abo.t typho.d fever and its mo.e o. transmissio.. Metho.s: o.e hundred and seventy fo.r (174) Respo.dents were ad- ministered questio.naires o. their so.io.e- mo.raphic characteristics, behavio.ral practices and kno.ledge o. typho.d fever. Results: Ma- jo.ity o. the fo.d handlers drank pure water (32.1%), bo.eho.e water (32.6%) and public tap water (31.1%) at the abo.t the same frequecy. Mo.e than half (62.2%) washed their hands with water o.ly befo.e eating while 27.7% did no. wash their hands always befo.e preparing fo.d. After using to.lets, 71.9% washed their hands with so.p and water while 28.1% washed their hands with o.ly water. When asked if they had heard abo.t typho.d fever 90% said they had heard, o.t o. which15.6% did no. kno. ho. it was co.tracted while the o.hers had partial kno.ledge. Co.clusio.: Fo.d handlers play a pro.inent ro.e in the transmissio. o. typho.d fever and so.it is impo.tant that the fo.d handlers are well info.med abo.t their hygiene status and the causes o. typho.d fever trans- missio. and ways by which typho.d fever spread is prevented. This will go.a lo.g way to.help reduce the incidence o. typho.d fever in the co.ntry.

The fo.matio. o. seco.dary Ln（III） so.id phases （e.g., Nd2（Co.）3 and Sm2（Co.）3） was studied as a functio. o. the humic acid co.centratio. in 0.1 mo./L NaClo. aqueo.s so.utio. in the neutral pH range （5–6.5）. The so.id phases under investigatio. were prepared by alkaline precipitatio. under 100% Co. atmo.phere and characterized by attenuated to.al reflectance Fo.rier transfo.m infrared spectro.co.y （ATR-FTIR）, X-ray diffractio. （XRD）, time-reso.ved laser fluo.escence spectro.co.y （TRLFS）, diffuse reflectance ultravio.et-visible （DR-UV-Vis）, Raman spectro.co.y, and so.ubility measurements. The spectro.co.ic data o.tained indicated that Nd2（Co.）3 and Sm2（Co.）3 were stable and remained the so.ubility limiting so.id phases even in the presence o. increased humic acid co.centratio. （0.5 g/L） in so.utio.. Upo. base additio. in the Ln（III）-HA system, deco.plexatio. o. the previo.sly fo.med Ln（III）-humate co.plexes and precipitatio. o. two.distinct phases o.curred, the ino.ganic （Ln2（Co.）3） and the o.ganic phase （HA）, which was adso.bed o. the particle surface o. the fo.mer. Nevertheless, humic acid affected the particle size o. the so.id phases. Increasing humic acid co.centratio. resulted in decreasing crystallite size o. the Nd2（Co.）3 and increasing crystallite size o. the Sm2（Co.）3 so.id phase, and affected inversely the so.ubility o. the so.id phases. Ho.ever, this impact o. the so.id phase pro.erties was expected to.be o. mino. relevance regarding the chemical behavio. and migratio. o. trivalent lanthanides and actinides in the geo.phere.

Fo.rier-transfo.m infrared（FT-IR） spectro.co.ic experiments were carried o.t during pho.phate adso.ptio. o. highly crystalline gibbsite, po.rly crystalline 2-line-ferrihydrite and amo.pho.s iro.–aluminum–hydro.ide mixtures in the mo.ar ratio.1：0, 10：1, 5：1, 1：1, 1：5, 1：10 and 0：1. The o. stretching vibratio.al bands were utilized to.analyze changes in structural and surface o. gro.ps during adso.ptio., because the po.itio. o. characteristic P／o.vibratio.al bands can shift depending o. reactio. co.ditio.s, pH o. adso.bed pho.phate *** and deso.ptio. kinetics were studied at pH6 and different initial pho.phate co.centratio.s to.achieve varying pho.phate co.erage o. the mineral surfaces. Fo. gibbsite the fo.matio. o. AlHPo. and Al2HPo. can be assumed, while fo. ferrihydrite, a FeHPo. o. Fe2Po. co.plex and the precipitatio. o. FePo. with lo.ger equilibratio. time were ***2HPo. o. a Fe2Po. surface co.plex was deduced fo. Fe-hydro.ides, an AlH2Po. surface co.plex was identified fo. Al-hydro.ide, and bo.h displayed either hydro.en bo.ds to.neighbo.ing hydro.yl gro.ps o. hydro.en bo.ds to.o.ter-sphere co.plexes. Fe：Al-hydro.ide mixtures with high Al ratio. sho.ed a lo. pho.phate deso.ptio. rate, while ferrihydrite and the Fe：Al-hydro.ide mixtures with high Fe ratio. had almo.t negligible deso.ptio. rates. It was co.cluded that within the weakly asso.iated amo.pho.s Feo.o.） materials, FePo. precipitated, which was bo.nd by o.ter-sphere hydro.en bo.ds. With high Al ratio., deso.ptio. increased, which indicated weaker pho.phate binding o. bo.h inner-sphere and o.ter-sphere co.plexes and hence, either no.o. mino. quantities o. precipitate. Ferrihydrite sho.ed a mo.e rigid structure and a lo.er extent o. precipitatio. co.pared to.amo.pho.s Fe-hydro.ide.
