The neural retina is a part of the central nervous system.As it lacks regenerative capacity,in an event of injury or disease,neuronal loss leads to visual impairment and often to blindness.Moreover,Müller glia(MG),the predominant glia in the retina,undergo a variety of molecular and cellular changes and discontinue to carry out their important regular functions in the tissue(e.g.,maintaining tissue homeostasis and nurturing neurons).

背景通常冠状动脉手术患者都能较好地耐受中度血液稀释，但这一情况并不适用于心肌氧需增加的患者。我们假设，在此类心率增快的患者中，血液稀释将导致心肌功能损害。方法根据房室起搏率将40例冠状动脉手术患者随机分为2组（n=20），房室起搏率70bpm（组70）和90bpm（组90）。按固定心率起搏下，在心肺转流术前实施血液稀释。通过肺动脉、PiCCO管和左室压力导管采集数据。所有的数据均取自等容稀释前后血流动力学稳定阶段。结果组70的血液稀释将血球压积从40％±2％降至30％±1％，组90的血液稀释将血球压积从39％±4％降到30％±2％，结果2组患者的体循环血管阻力均下降，而舒张末容积增加。组70患者伴有每搏量的增加，组90没有。组90在血液稀释后，最大压力上升速率下降[从856±93mmHg／s下降到716±80mmHg／s（P〈0．01）]，而组70的值保持不变（血液稀释前843±86mmHg／s，稀释后832±79mmHg／s）。结论本研究结果显示，中度血液稀释的患者，心率增加可能导致心肌功能的抑制。

In this paper,a new strategy for a sub-element-based shock capturing for discontinuous Galerkin(DG)approximations is presented.The idea is to interpret a DG element as a col-lection of data and construct a hierarchy of low-to-high-order discretizations on this set of data,including a first-order finite volume scheme up to the full-order DG scheme.The dif-ferent DG discretizations are then blended according to sub-element troubled cell indicators,resulting in a final discretization that adaptively blends from low to high order within a single DG element.The goal is to retain as much high-order accuracy as possible,even in simula-tions with very strong shocks,as,e.g.,presented in the Sedov test.The framework retains the locality of the standard DG scheme and is hence well suited for a combination with adaptive mesh refinement and parallel computing.The numerical tests demonstrate the sub-element adaptive behavior of the new shock capturing approach and its high accuracy.

Mixed reality technologies provide real-time and immersive experiences,which bring tremendous opportunities in entertainment,education,and enriched experiences that are not directly accessible owing to safety or cost.The research in this field has been in the spotlight in the last few years as the metaverse went viral.The recently emerging omnidirectional video streams,i.e.,360°videos,provide an affordable way to capture and present dynamic real-world scenes.In the last decade,fueled by the rapid development of artificial intelligence and computational photography technologies,the research interests in mixed reality systems using 360°videos with richer and more realistic experiences are dramatically increased to unlock the true potential of the metaverse.In this survey,we cover recent research aimed at addressing the above issues in the 360°image and video processing technologies and applications for mixed reality.The survey summarizes the contributions of the recent research and describes potential future research directions about 360°media in the field of mixed reality.

Hybrid Short-term Load Forecasting Method Based on Empirical Wavelet Transform and Bidirectional Long Short-term Memory Neural Networks

Accurate short-term load forecasting is essential to modern power systems and smart grids. The utility can better implement demand-side management and operate power system stably with a reliable load forecasting system. The load demand contains a variety of different load components, and different loads operate with different frequencies. The conventional load forecasting methods, e.g., linear regression(LR), auto-regressive integrated moving average(ARIMA), deep neural network, ignore the frequency domain and can only use time-domain load demand as inputs. To make full use of both time-domain and frequency-domain features of the load demand, a load forecasting method based on hybrid empirical wavelet transform(EWT) and deep neural network is proposed in this paper. The proposed method first filters noises via wavelet-based denoising technique, and then decomposes the original load demand into several sub-layers to show the frequency features while the time-domain information is preserved as well. Then, a bidirectional long short-term memory(LSTM) method is trained for each sub-layer independently. In order to better tune the hyperparameters, a Bayesian hyperparameter optimization(BHO) algorithm is adopted in this paper. Three case studies are designed to evaluate the performance of the proposed method.From the results, it is found that the proposed method improves the prediction accuracy compared with other load forecasting method.

The noble gas argon has the potential to protect neuronal cells from cell death.So far,this effect has been studied in treatment after acute damage.Preconditioning using argon has not yet been investigated.In this study,human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells were treated with different concentrations of argon(25%,50%,and 74%;21%O_(2),5%CO_(2),balance nitrogen)at different time intervals before inflicting damage with rotenone(20μM,4 hours).Apoptosis was determined by flow cytometry after annexin V and propidium iodide staining.Surface expressions of Toll-like receptors 2 and 4 were also examined.Cells were also processed for analysis by western blot and qPCR to determine the expression of apoptotic and inflammatory proteins,such as extracellular-signal regulated kinase(ERK1/2),nuclear transcription factor-κB(NF-κB),protein kinase B(Akt),caspase-3,Bax,Bcl-2,interleukin-8,and heat shock proteins.Immunohistochemical staining was performed for TLR2 and 4 and interleukin-8.Cells were also pretreated with OxPAPC,an antagonist of TLR2 and 4 to elucidate the molecular mechanism.Results showed that argon preconditioning before rotenone application caused a dose-dependent but not a time-dependent reduction in the number of apoptotic cells.Preconditioning with 74%argon for 2 hours was used for further experiments showing the most promising results.Argon decreased the surface expression of TLR2 and 4,whereas OxPAPC treatment partially abolished the protective effect of argon.Argon increased phosphorylation of ERK1/2 but decreased NF-κB and Akt.Preconditioning inhibited mitochondrial apoptosis and the heat shock response.Argon also suppressed the expression of the pro-inflammatory cytokine interleukin-8.Immunohistochemistry confirmed the alteration of TLRs and interleukin-8.OxPAPC reversed the argon effect on ERK1/2,Bax,Bcl-2,caspase-3,and interleukin-8 expression,but not on NF-κB and the heat shock proteins.Taken together,argon preconditioning protects against apoptosis of neuronal cells and mediates its action via Toll-like recep

The early development of face processing——What makes faces special?

In the present article we review behavioral and neurophysiological studies on face processing in adults and in early development. From the existing empirical and theoretical literature we derive three aspects that distinguish face processing from the processing of other visual object categories. Each of these aspects is discussed from a developmental perspective. First, faces are recognized and represented at the individual level rather than at the basic level. Second, humans typically acquire extensive expertise in individuating faces from early on in development. And third, more than other objects, faces are processed holistically. There is a quantitative difference in the amount of visual experience for faces and other object categories in that the amount of expertise typically acquired for faces is greater than that for other object categories. In addition, we discuss possible qualitative differences in experience for faces and objects. For instance, there is evidence for a sensitive period in infancy for building up a holistic face representation and for perceptual narrowing for faces of one＇s own species and race. We conclude our literature review with questions for future research, for instance, regarding the exact relationship between behavioral and neuronal markers of face processing across development.
