Traditional medicinal practices have a profound influence on the daily lives of people living in developing countries,particularly in Africa,since the populations cannot generally afford the cost of Western *** have undertaken to investigate the correlation between the uses of plants in Traditional African medicine and the biological activities of the derived natural products,with the aim to validate the use of traditional medicine in Northern African *** literature is covered for the period 1959-2015 and part III of this review series focuses on plant families with names beginning with letters T to *** authors have focused on curating data from journals in natural products and *** each journal home page,a query search based on country name was *** articles‘‘hits’’were then verified,one at a time,that the species was harvested within the Northern African geographical *** current data partly constitutes the bases for the development of the Northern African natural compounds *** review discusses 284 plant-based natural compounds from 34 species and 11 *** was observed that the ethnobotanical uses of less than 40%of the plant species surveyed correlated with the bioactivities of compounds identified.

Review of current methods of acousto-optical tomography for biomedical applications

The field of acousto-optical tomography （AOT） for medical applications began in the 1990s and has since developed multiple techniques for the detection of ultrasound-modulated light. Light becomes frequency shifted as it travels through an ultrasound beam. This ＂tagged＂ light can be detected and used for focused optical imaging. Here, we present a comprehensive overview of the techniques that have developed since around 2011 in the field of biomedical AOT. This includes how AOT has advanced by taken advantage of the research conducted in the ultrasound, as well as, the optical fields. Also, simulations and reconstruction algorithms have been formulated specifically for AOT imaging over this time period. Future progression of AOT relies on its ability to provide significant contributions to in vivo imaging for biomedical applications. We outline the challenges that AOT still faces to make in vivo imaging possible and what has been accomplished thus far, as well as possible future directions.

目的　了解血管内皮生长因子(VEGF)基因修饰对皮肤替代物移植后的影响。　方法将72只裸鼠分为实验组,以含VEGF目的基因的腺病毒载体转染人成纤维细胞(Fb),将其接种于In tegra人工皮后移植于裸鼠创面;绿色荧光蛋白(GFP)对照组,用于转染Fb的腺病毒载体不含VEGF目的基因,但含与实验组相同的指示标记物GFP基因片段;Fb对照组,接种于Integra人工皮的Fb未行基因转染,其他处理与前两组完全相同;无细胞对照组,所移植的Integra人工皮未接种Fb,每组18只。评估实验组及各对照组移植物的成活情况、血管化过程及组织学变化。　结果　实验组移植术后移植皮片新生血管形成情况明显优于各对照组(P<0. 05),术后早期移植皮片与创面贴附较牢固,分离时易引起出血。实验组移植皮片成活率(100. 0% )显著高于GFP、Fb、无细胞对照组(分别为83. 3%、75. 0%、77 8%, P<0. 01 ),而感染率低于各对照组(P<0. 05 ).　结论　基因修饰所致VEGF高表达明显促进了移植皮肤替代物的血管化过程,提高了移植物成活率。

GOBO projection for 3D measurements at highest frame rates: a performance analysis

Aperiodic sinusoidal patterns that are cast by a GOBO(GOes Before Optics)projector are a powerful tool for optically measuring the surface topography of moving or deforming objects with very high speed and *** optimised the first experimental setup that we were able to measure inflating car airbags at frame rates of more than 50 kHz while achieving a 3D point standard deviation of~500μ***,we theoretically investigate the method of GOBO projection of aperiodic sinusoidal *** a simulation-based performance analysis,we examine the parameters that influence the accuracy of the measurement result and identify an optimal pattern design that yields the highest measurement *** compare the results with those that were obtained via GOBO projection of phase-shifted sinusoidal ***,we experimentally verify the theoretical *** show that the proposed technique has several advantages over conventional fringe projection techniques,as the easy-to-build and cost-effective GOBO projector can provide a high radiant flux,allows high frame rates,and can be used over a wide spectral range.

RIG-I immunotherapy overcomes radioresistance in p53-positive malignant melanoma

Radiotherapy induces DNA damage,resulting in cell cycle arrest and activation of cell-intrinsic death ***,the radioresistance of some tumour entities such as malignant melanoma limits its clinical *** innate immune sensing receptor retinoic acid-inducible gene I(RIG-I)is ubiquitously expressed and upon activation triggers an immunogenic form of cell death in a variety of tumour cell types including *** date,the potential of RIG-I ligands to overcome radioresistance of tumour cells has not been ***,we demonstrate that RIG-I activation enhanced the extent and immunogenicity of irradiation-induced tumour cell death in human and murine melanoma cells in vitro and improved survival in the murine B16 melanoma model in *** analysis pointed to a central role for p53,which was confirmed using p53^(-/-)B16 *** vivo,the additional effect of RIG-I in combination with irradiation on tumour growth was absent in mice carrying p53^(-/-)B16 tumours,while the antitumoural response to RIG-I stimulation alone was *** results identify p53 as a pivotal checkpoint that is triggered by RIG-I resulting in enhanced irradiation-induced tumour cell ***,the combined administration of RIG-I ligands and radiotherapy is a promising approach to treating radioresistant tumours with a functional p53 pathway,such as melanoma.
