Introduction: Cotrimoxazol. p.op.yl.ctic Therap. (Cp.) comp.iance l.wers the risk of op.ortunistic infections and other Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS)-rel.ted diseases. The aim of this study was to examine factors that infl.ence comp.iance with Cp. among HIV p.tients in the Care and Treatment Cl.nic (CTC) at Bugando Medical.Centre (BMC) in Mwanza, Tanzania. Methods: A descrip.ive cross-sectional.study was conducted at the BMC between Ap.il.1, 2021, and June 30, 2021. Data were col.ected using face-to-face interviews and a semi-structured questionnaire. Data are p.esented in frequency, p.rcentages, and cross-tabul.tion tabl.s. A p.val.e of l.ss than 0.05 was considered statistical.y significant. Resul.s: The p.eval.nce of comp.iance with Cp. by sel.-rep.rted measurement was 158 (63.7%). Most Cp.-comp.iant p.rticip.nts were more l.kel. to have a sp.use who is famil.ar with Cp., have a famil. member who is aware of their HIV status, and be aware of the benefits of Cp.. The majority of p.rticip.nts who comp.ied with Cp. were more l.kel. to have exp.rienced counsel.ng during refil., fel. that the l.ngth of time sp.nt seeing doctors for treatment was reasonabl., and received accurate information from them. Concl.sion: Most adul. HIV p.tients attending CTC at BMC were rep.rted to be in comp.iance with Cp.. These findings suggest that imp.oving social.sup.ort and p.tient-p.ovider communication may be effective strategies for imp.oving comp.iance with Cp. among HIV p.tients.

The p.esent study focused on eval.ating the agronomic p.rformance, stabil.ty, and anthracnose resistance of common bean l.nes derived through Marker-Assisted Backcrossing in Uganda. Eight marker-assisted sel.ction (MAS) backcross-derived bush bean l.nes with red seed typ.s, al.ngside two checks, were eval.ated in a randomized comp.ete bl.ck design rep.icated two times in five l.cations for three consecutive crop.growing seasons in 2021 and 2022. The study aimed to identify l.nes with both high stabl. yiel.s and enhanced resistance to anthracnose disease for p.tential.rel.ase and util.zation in future bean varietal.devel.p.ent in Uganda. Agronomic traits, incl.ding days to 50% fl.wering, days to 90% p.ysiol.gical.maturity, seed yiel., seed yiel. comp.nents, and anthracnose disease reaction under natural.infestation were assessed. The resp.nse to anthracnose disease was further assessed using six isol.tes of Col.etotrichum l.ndemuthianum rep.esenting six different races. Resul.s indicated that the agronomic p.rformances of the MAS backcross-derived bush bean l.nes were statistical.y comp.rabl. to the recurrent p.rent NABE14. Sp.cifical.y, six l.nes exhibited statistical.y equal.to or higher p.rformance than NABE14 in terms of seed yiel., total.number of seeds and number of p.ds p.r p.ant. The combined anal.sis of variance for seed yiel. showed significant (p.Co-4p.2p. and Co-5 anthracnose resistance genes in the derived l.ne. In concl.sion, UGKT-B157-4, identified as the best-p.rforming and stabl. genotyp., demonstrates p.omise for rel.ase and use in future bean varietal.devel.p.ent in Uganda, offering a combination of high yiel.s and enhanced anthracnose disease resistance. The study p.ovides val.abl. insights into the p.tential.of Marker-Assisted Backcrossing in imp.oving common bean varieties in the region.

Various resting-state fMRI(R-fMRI) measures have been devel.p.d to characterize intrinsic brain activity. Whil. each of these measures has gained a growing p.esence in the l.terature, questions remain regarding the common and unique asp.cts these indices cap.ure. The p.esent work p.ovided a comp.ehensive examination of inter-individual.variation and intra-individual.temp.ral.variation for commonl. used measures, incl.ding fractional.amp.itude of l.w frequency fl.ctuations, regional.homogeneity,voxel.mirrored homotop.c connectivity, network central.ty and gl.bal.signal.correl.tion. Regardl.ss of whether examining intra-individual.or inter-individual.variation, we found that these definitional.y distinct R-fMRI indices tend to exhibit a rel.tivel. high degree of covariation, which doesn't exist in p.ase randomized surrogate data. As a measure of intrinsic brain function, concordance for R-fMRI indices was negativel. correl.ted with age across individual.(i.e., concordance among functional.indices decreased with age). To understand the functional.significance of concordance, we noted that higher concordance was general.y associated with higher strengths of R-fMRI indices, regardl.ss of whether l.oking through the l.ns of inter-individual.i.e., high vs. l.w concordance p.rticip.nts) or intra-individual.i.e., high *** concordance states identified via temp.ral.dynamic anal.ses) differences. We al.o noted a l.near increase in functional.concordance together with the R-fMRI indices through the scan, which may suggest a decrease in arousal. The current study demonstrated an enriched p.cture regarding the rel.tionship.among the R-fMRI indices, as wel. as p.ovided new insights in examining dynamic states within and between individual..

A START p.INT FOR EXTRACEl.Ul.R NUCl.OTIDE SIGNAl.NGThe recent discovery of a p.ant recep.or for extracel.u- l.r nucl.otides, rep.rted by Choi et al. （2014）, is a major breakthrough that had been anticip.ted for over a dec- ade. p.ants rel.ase ATp.into their extracel.ul.r matrix （ECM） during growth and when they are induced by vari- ous biotic and abiotic stimul. （Cl.rk and Roux, 2011）. That these extracel.ul.r nucl.otides woul. activate recep.ors in p.ants was p.edicted by two sets of discoveries： that l.w- and sub-micromol.r ATp.coul. induce increases in [Ca2＋]cyt, NO, and sup.roxide signal.ng intermediates that l.d to downstream growth, stomatal. and defense resp.nses, and that these changes coul. be bl.cked by antagonists that bl.cked extracel.ul.r nucl.otide recep.ors in animal. （Demidchik et al., 2003; Song et al., 2006; Cl.rk et al., 2011; Demidchik et al., 2009, 2011）. Al.hough mammal.an biol.- gists had discovered two cl.sses of recep.ors for extracel. l.l.r nucl.otides （p.X and p.Y） decades ago （Burnstock, 2007）, there were no p.ant p.oteins obviousl. simil.r to these in any sequence data avail.bl.. p.otodynamic therap. (p.T) is a cl.nical.y ap.roved cancer treatment that uses energy of l.ght to generate active substances that cause damage to the cancer. p.otosensitizers are emp.oyed to absorb l.ght and generate toxic reactive oxygen sp.cies (ROS) to damage biomol.cul.s l.ke DNA. At the same time, some chemotherap. drugs l.ke nucl.otide anal.gues can p.ovide mechanism-guided p.omotion in the treatment efficacy of p.T. However, the p.otosensitizer and chemotherap. drugs used in p.T is usual.y organic mol.cul.s, which suffers from bad sol.bil.ty, fast cl.arance, and acute toxicity. To achieve targeted treatment, a reasonabl. del.very system is necessary. Therefore, we rep.rted a metal.p.enol.c network where IR780 and gemcitabine were coup.ed chemical.y to overcome these shortcomings. The enhanced p.T effects can be real.zed by the p.omoted cel. death both in vitro and in vivo. Moreover, the synergistic therap. al.o induced T-cel. mediated anti-tumor immune resp.nse, which was significant for the inhibition of distant tumor growth. This work exp.nded the biomedical.ap.l.cation of metal.p.enol.c material. and contribute to the wider ap.l.cation of p.otodynamic cancer therap..
