In the first step, the Ehrenfest reasoning concerning the adiabatic invariance of the angular orbital momentum is applied to the electron motion in the hydrogen atom. It is demonstrated that the time of the energy emission from the quantum level n+1 to level n can be deduced from the orbital angular momentum examined in the hydrogen atom. This time is found precisely equal to the time interval dictated by the Joule-Lenz law governing the electron transition between the levels n+1 and n. In the next step, the mechanical parameters entering the quantum systems are applied in calculating the time intervals characteristic for the electron transitions. This concerns the neighbouring energy levels in the hydrogen atom as well as the Landau levels in the electron gas submitted to the action of a constant magnetic field.

Coupling of the Magnetostriction and hall Effect in the Porous Magnetorheological Composite

The first part of this paper is presents a method for producing the composite which shows ferromagnetic, highly-elastic and electrically-conducting properties. This composite consists of ferromagnetic particles of the size 0.15-0.25 mm made of the chemically pure iron. The mentioned particles were dispersed in the elastic porous silicone the matrix with pores of the size 0.15-0.25 mm. Colloidal graphite particles of the size not exceeding 0.5 μm were added to the matrix to increase electrical conductivity. The production method consist in mixing particles of iron, graphite and sodium chloride with non-polymerized silicone and rinsing salt particles by water after the matrix polymerization. In its second part the paper provides a description of the measurement system for longitudinal magnetostriction and the hall voltage. The magnetic field with the induction of ± 8 T produced by the Bitter type magnet was applied to the composite samples. The supplying voltage was applied to these samples and the hall voltage was measured at the electrodes glued to them. The longitudinal magnetostriction was measured by means of the capacitor with a variable capacity placed at the upper surface of these samples. The linear magnetostriction exceeding ± 6 % and the hall voltage reaching ± 5.5 nV were detected by the conducted measurements. Both the longitudinal magnetostriction and the hall voltage show nonlinear changes and hysteresis lopes during the magnetic field application and the supplying current flow. The coupling of these changes and other regularities observed in the investigated composites and especially their non-linearity and hysteresis, are discussed in the final part of the paper.

We demonstrate that the intensity of the energy emission obtained from the Joule-Lenz law applied to the case of a single free-electron particle or a harmonic oscillator does not depend on the change of size of the corresponding energy interval () and time interval () because the ratio of??to??representing the emission rate remains constant. For a free electron, this property holds on condition the calculations of??and??refer to the states having a sufficiently large quantum index n.

A relation between the intervals of energy and time, derived in a former paper and associated with the electron transitions on the Fermi surface of a metal, is examined in comparison with the experimental data. These data are obtained from the de-excitation process of electrons in metals. A comparison between theory and experiment demonstrated that the new relation between energy and time is fitted much better for the experimental results than the well-known relation due to the Heisenberg theory.

An attempt is done to calculate the value of the elementary electron charge from its relation to the Planck constant and the speed of light. This relation is obtained, in the first step, from the Pauli analysis of the strength of the electric field associated with an elementary emission process of energy. In the next step, the uncertainty principle is applied to both the emission time and energy. The theoretical result for e is roughly close to the experimental value of the electron charge.

The motion of electron wave packets of a metal is examined classically in the presence of the magnetic field with the aim to calculate the time intervals between two states lying on the same Fermi surface. A lower limiting value of the transition time equal to about 10–18 sec is estimated as an average for the case when the states are lying on the Fermi surface having a spherical shape. Simultaneously, an upper limit for the electron circular frequency in a metal has been also derived. A formal reference of the classical transition time to the time interval entering the energy-time uncertainty relations known in quantum mechanics is obtained.

BACKGROUND Despite effective prevention and screening methods,the incidence and mortality rates associated with colorectal cancer(CRC)are still *** receptor substrate 1(IRS-1),a signaling molecule involved in cell proliferation,survival and metabolic responses has been implicated in carcinogenic processes in various cellular and animal ***,the role of IRS-1 in CRC biology and its value as a clinical CRC biomarker has not been well *** To evaluate if and how IRS-1 expression and its associations with the apoptotic and proliferation tumor markers,Bax,Bcl-xL and Ki-67 are related to clinicopathological features in human *** The expression of IRS-1,Bax,Bcl-xL and Ki-67 proteins was assessed in tissue samples obtained from 127 patients with primary CRC using immunohistochemical *** assays were performed using specific antibodies against IRS-1,Bax,Bcl-xL,*** associations between the expression of IRS-1,Bax,Bcl-xL,Ki-67 were analyzed in relation to clinicopathological parameters,i.e.,patient age,sex,primary localization of tumor,histopathological type,grading,staging and lymph node *** between variables were examined by Spearman rank correlation test and Fisher exact test with a level of significance at P<*** Immunohistochemical analysis of 127 CRC tissue samples revealed weak cytoplasmatic staining for IRS-1 in 66 CRC sections and strong cytoplasmatic staining in 61 ***-1 expression at any level in primary CRC was associated with tumor grade(69%in moderately differentiated tumors,G2 vs 31%in poorly differentiated tumors,G3)and with histological type(81.9%in adenocarcinoma vs 18.1%in adenocarcinoma with mucosal component cases).Strong IRS-1 positivity was observed more frequently in adenocarcinoma cases(95.1%)and in moderately differentiated tumors(85.2%).We also found statistically significant correlations between expression of IRS-1 and both Bax and Bcl-xL in all CRC cases *** relat

Gamma-Index Passing Rates in Baseline Plans Measured with a Detector Array

Purpose: This study provides a simple protocol for validation of the gamma passing rates and to identify the optimum values of % dose and mm criteria for dose distributions measured with a detector array. Methods: We chose ArcCHECK detector array to illustrate the concepts. We used plans with uniform or quasi-uniform dose distributions along the detector array for testing in the presence of dose errors. For testing sensitivity to spatial shift we employed a plan with approximately constant dose gradient along the axis of the instrument. Results: We identified a representative set of parameters which describe performance of a detector array. We determined the minimum gamma-index acceptance criteria allowing the passing rates to reach 100% in the absence of errors, and identified the minimum fully detectable errors for such criteria. For our baseline plans delivered to ArcCHECK, 100% passing rates were obtained for 1.5% dose criterion together with ±3% minimum error detectable at 100% rate, and for 1.5 mm criterion together with the minimum fully detectable error of ±3 mm. We inspected the impact of selected program options on the passing rates. Conclusions: The protocol we developed provides a simple method of commissioning-style analysis of a detector array without a need for analysis of a large number of clinical plans.

The electron gas examined in a very thin potential tube exhibits some special kind of the excited pairs making them similar to the Cooper pairs. The coupling energy of the pair can be calculated as an amount of energy required to transform the excitation energy of a coupled pair into the one-electron excitation energy. For an extremely thin potential tube the coupling energy of the pair tends to infinity. The gas energy is unstable with respect to the pair excitation which provides a kind of gap near the Fermi level. A decisive part of the gap energy is due to the electron-electron interaction. The gap is attained on condition the length of a thin potential box exceeds some critical value. In the next step, a coherence length in the gas is obtained. This length, combined with a critical magnetic field representing a transition from a superconducting to a normal state, allows us to calculate the penetration depth of the magnetic field for the singlet and triplet excitations. The penetration depth together with the critical magnetic field and energy gap can provide us with a critical current, as well as critical temperature for the superconducting state.
