Ebola virus d one of the deadliest viral diseases,with a mortality rate around 90%d damages the immune system and organs,with symptoms including episodic fever,chills,malaise and *** Recombinant Vesicular stomatitis Virus-based candidate vaccine(rVSV-ZEBOV)has demonstrated clinical efficacy against Ebola in ring-vaccination clinical *** order to evaluate the potential effect of this candidate vaccine,we developed risk equations for the daily risk of Ebola infection both currently and after *** risk equations account for the basic transmission probability of Ebola and the lowered risk due to various protection protocols:vaccination,hazmat suits,reduced contact with the infected living and dead *** space was sampled using Latin Hypercube Sampling,a statistical method for generating a near-random sample of parameter *** found that at a high transmission rate of Ebola(i.e.,if the transmission rate is greater than 90%),a large fraction of the population must be vaccinated(>80%)to achieve a 50%decrease in the daily risk of *** a vaccine is introduced,it must have at least 50%efficacy,and almost everyone in the affected areas must receive it to effectively control outbreaks of *** results indicate that a low-efficacy Ebola vaccine runs the risk of having vaccinated people be overconfident in a weak vaccine and hence the possibility that the vaccine could make the situation worse,unless the population can be sufficiently educated about the necessity for high vaccine uptake.

Dear Editor,Chronic pain is a significant concern after major lower limb amputations that often preclude prosthetic fitting,decrease ambulation,and impact the quality of life[1,2].In the last decade,targeted muscle reinnervation(TMR)has been proposed as a surgical strategy for treating or preventing symptomatic neuromas and phantomlimb phenomena in major amputees[1].This technique involves the transfer of an amputated mixed-motor and sensory nerve to a nearby recipient motor nerve[1,2].Unlike most surgical strategies that aim to hide or protect the neuroma,TMR gives the amputated nerves“somewhere to go and something to do”[2].In a randomized clinical trial on neuroma and phantom pain,Dumanian et al.[1]demonstrated that TMR reduces amputationrelated chronic pain at 1-year post-intervention when compared with the excision and muscle-burying technique,which remains the current gold *** et al.[2]also proposed applying TMR at the time of major limb amputation for preventing chronic pain and found that TMR patients experienced less residual limb pain(RLP)and phantom limb pain(PLP)when compared with untreated amputee controls.

AIM To assess the interendoscopist variability in the detection of colorectal polyps according to their location and histological *** This study was a retrospective analysis of prospectively collected data from a regional colorectal cancer(CRC) screening program; 2979 complete colonoscopies from 18 endoscopists were included. Variability in performance between endoscopists for detection of at least one adenoma(A), one proximal adenoma(PA), one distal adenoma(DA), and one proximal serrated polyp(PSP) was assessed by using multilevel logistic regression *** The observed detection rates among the 18 endoscopists ranged from 24.6% to 47.6%(mean = 35.7%) for A, from 19.1% to 39.0%(mean = 29.4%) for DA, from 6.0% to 22.9%(mean = 12.4%) for PA, and from 1.3% to 19.3%(mean = 6.9%) for *** adjusting for patient-level variables(sex, age), the interendoscopist detection rates variability achieved a significant level for A, PA, and PSP but not for DA(P = 0.03, P = 0.02, P = 0.02 and P = 0.08, respectively).
