Introduc.ion: The objec.ive of this work was to desc.ibe the epidemiologic.l, etiologic.l, c.inic.l and therapeutic.aspec.s of atrial fibrillation (AF) in Thies, Senegal. Materials and Methods: This was a retrospec.ive, multic.ntre, desc.iptive study from February 1st, to May 28th, 2019 c.rried out in the 3 hospitals of the c.ty of Thies that foc.sed on patients with AF doc.mented by an Ec.. Valvular and non-valvular AF c.assific.tion was used and the c.A2DS2-VASc.sc.re was used to assess thromboembolic.risk. Results: We c.llec.ed 67 patients with a female predominanc. (M/F sex ratio of 0.71). The prevalenc. of AF was 1.7%. The average age of patients was 66.67 ± 13.48 years. Forty-eight patients (71.64%) had palpitations and 32 patients (47.76%) had heart failure. Hypertension was the most c.mmon etiologic.l fac.or found in 41 patients (61.19%) followed by rheumatic.valvular disease in 25 patients (37.31%). The non-valvular AF was found in 42 patients (62.69%) of whic. 34 (80.95%) had a c.A2DS2-VASc.sc.re ≥ 2. Vitamin K antagonists (VKAs) were presc.ibed in 47 patients (79.66%) and aspirin alone in 12 patients (20.34%). Direc. Oral Antic.agulants (DOAc.) were not presc.ibed in any patient. Seven patients (10.44%) had a medic.l regulator treatment and no elec.ric.l c.rdioversion was performed. c.nc.usion: AF was a frequent rhythm disorder. Hypertension and rheumatic.mitral valve disease were the most frequently assoc.ated etiologic.l fac.ors. The diagnosis was often late in the heart failure stage. Antic.agulant treatment was insuffic.ently presc.ibed and based exc.usively on VKAs.

Introduc.ion: c.rdiovasc.lar diseases are the leading c.use of mortality in type 2 diabetic. patients. Our work aimed to assess the level of c.ntrol of type 2 diabetes and assoc.ated c.rdiovasc.lar risk fac.ors. Patients and study method: This was an observational c.oss-sec.ional study of type 2 diabetic. patients. The parameters studied were: soc.odemographic.data, lifestyle, anthropometric.data, levels of c.ntrol of diabetes by the level of HbA1c. blood pressure measured at the offic. and c.olesterol. Results: 326 type 2 diabetic. patients were c.llec.ed. The sex-ratio was 0.35. The average age of the patients was 58 ± 11 years. A physic.l inac.ivity remained present in 79 patients (24.23%), 2 patients (0.61%) c.ntinued to smoke. The prevalenc. of obesity was 21.16% (n = 69) or 25% of women and 10.4% of men (p = 0.01). Abdominal obesity was observed in 151 patients (46.31%), 139 of whom were female and 12 male (p = 0.001). Diabetes was suffic.ently c.ntrolled in 65.34% of patients (n = 213) while c.olesterolemia and hypertension were c.ntrolled in 33.44% and 8.33% of patients respec.ively. c.nc.usion: Type 2 diabetes was frequently assoc.ated with other c.rdiovasc.lar risk fac.ors. c.ntrol of diabetes and these fac.ors was insuffic.ent. Therapeutic.educ.tion of type 2 diabetic. patients needed to be improved.

Purpose: To desc.ibe the epidemiologic.l, c.inic.l and management c.arac.eristic. of ac.te c.ronary syndromes (Ac.) in Thies, Senegal. Methods: This was a prospec.ive study that inc.uded c.nsec.tively from Oc.ober 1st, 2018 to Marc. 03rd, 2019, patients aged 18 years or older admitted for an Ac. at the DIABc.RMET department of the Saint Jean de Dieu Hospital in Thies. Results: Of the 516 patients admitted, 29 had Ac., the prevalenc. was 5.62%. The average age of the patients was 64.2 ± 11.6 years. Nineteen patients (65.5%) were male and 10 (34.5%) were female, the sex ratio was 1.91. The number of direc. admissions was 18 (62%) versus 11 patients (38%) referred. The mode of transport was a private vehic.e in 19 patients (65.5%), an ambulanc. in 7 patients (24.1%) and public.transport in 3 patients (10.3%). stEMI (st segment elevation myoc.rdial infarc.ion) was the most c.mmon presentation observed in 19 patients (65.5%). Fifteen patients (51.7%) were admitted before the 12th hour. Of the 19 patients with stEMI, 11 (57.9%) had arrived in hospital before the 12th hour and 10 patients had streptokinase thrombolysis. No patients rec.ived primary Pc.. Ten patients (34.5%) had heart failure and five patients (17.2%) died during hospitalization. c.nc.usion: Delayed c.nsultation and high mortality c.arac.erize Ac. in Thies. Prevention must be the rule.

strong>Introduc.ionstrong>: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is the most c.mmon c.ronic.inflammatory rheumatism. The inc.easing use of bone and joint ultrasound as a tool to aid in the detec.ion of unrefined synovitis in developed c.untries, has led us to study the performanc. of ultrasound in the diagnosis of RA in subjec.s c.nsulting in rheumatology at c.tonou. strong>study Method:strong> Desc.iptive c.oss-sec.ional study of patients with RA, selec.ed on the basis of Ac./ EULAR 2010 c.iteria. A c.mplete c.inic.l examination with imaging inc.uding X-rays and ultrasounds of the hands and feet were performed in all patients who have given their c.nsent. The data c.llec.ed was analyzed using EPI data 3.1 and SPSS 24.0 software. The signific.nc. rate was defined with a p-value c.hen’s Kappa (k) test was used to assess agreement. strong>Results:strong> All 53 patients inc.uded had lesions on ultrasound. Synovitis was found in 98.1% and bone erosions in 88.7%. There was no agreement in the wrists between c.inic.l examination and ultrasound (k = -0.116), Mc. (k = -0.097) and MTP (k = -0.031). Agreement was very low at the PPI level (k = 0.03). It was low at the different sites, between ultrasound and radiographic.detec.ion of lesions (k between 0.022 - 0.22). Age, positive immunologic.RA fac.or and biologic.l inflammatory syndrome were assoc.ated with ultrasound erosions (p = 0.0001) and only age was assoc.ated with ac.ive synovitis (p = 0.022). strong>c.nc.usion:strong> Bone and artic.lar ultrasound is a good c.mplementary alternative to c.inic.l examination and radiography diagnostic.in early diagnosis of RA in our developing c.untries, in the absenc. of MRI whic. remains a luxury.

strong>Introduc.ion:strong> Tendinopathy of the thorac.c.limb (TMT) is frequent, and is responsible for an important soc.o-professional handic.p. Medic.l imaging, in partic.lar, ultrasound has a major role in c.ntributing to the diagnosis. As the use of ultrasound is rec.nt in osteoartic.lar pathology, espec.ally in Afric., we proposed to determine the c.ntribution of imaging in the diagnosis of tendinopathy of the thorac.c.limbs in a c.untry with limited resourc.s. strong>Patients and Method:strong> A desc.iptive and analytic.l c.oss-sec.ional study of patients with tendinopathy of the thorac.c.limb who c.nsulted the rheumatology department of the c.HU-HKM of c.tonou from August 6, 2019 to Oc.ober 6, 2019. We evaluated the c.nc.rdanc. of thorac.c.limb tendinopathy between imaging (radiography and ultrasound) and the c.inic.on the one hand and then between radiography and ultrasound on the other hand. The analysis of the c.llec.ed data was c.rried out with the Epi-info software version 7.***.1.0. Then the c.nc.rdanc. was evaluated by the kappa c.effic.ent. strong>Results:strong> Fifty- two (52) patients with 104 joints were evaluated. The average age was 54.92 ± 3.40 years. c.inic.lly, rotator c.ff tendinopathy was the most frequent abartic.lar pathology (45.19%). The c.inic.l-ultrasound agreement was strong (k = 0.7527) for the shoulders, very strong (k = 0.9360) for the elbows and moderate for the wrists (k = 0.6695). The c.inic.l-radiographic.agreement was weak (k = 0.2316) at the shoulder level and very weak (k = 0.2087) at the elbow level. The radio-ultrasound agreement was very low in the shoulders (k = 0.1522), elbows (k = 0.1859) and wrists (k = 0.0001). strong>c.nc.usion:strong> The c.ntribution of imaging in the diagnosis of TMT remains c.rtain even in a c.untry with limited resourc.s like ours. Bac.ground: Timely management determines the prognosis of patients admitted for ac.te c.ronary syndrome with persistent st-segment elevation (stEMI). c.ronavirus c.VID-19 appeared in c.ina, in Wuhan in Dec.mber 2019, which has spread at a lightning speed across the planet earth, becoming a pandemic. Senegal, as well as countries around the world, has also been affected by this pandemic, which has had a strong impact on all its sectors of activity, particularly the health system. The objective of this study was to identify and evaluate the factors that increase the time required to treat myocardial infarctions, received late at H?pital Aristide le Dantec and to assess the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on these delays. Results: A total of 25 patients were included: 17 patients in pre-pandemic period and 8 patients in pandemic period. The predominance was male with a sex ratio of 2.5. The mean age was 59.20 years. Hypertension was the leading risk factor with a prevalence of 60% followed by sedentary lifestyle (48%). Typical chest pain was the most frequent clinical symptom found on admission (80%) followed by nausea and vomiting (40%). The first medical contact took place in a hospital in most patients (44%) and was made by a general practitioner (64%). The majority of patients (76%) were referred to the cardiology department. The personal car was the most frequently used means of transportation for our patients (60%). The average distance by car between the place of occurrence and the hospital was 22.6 km with extremes of 3.30 and 36 km. The average travel time from the place of occurrence to the cardiology department was 43 min 30 style="font-family:Verdana;">s with extremes of 11 and 57 min.
