Gold Mineralization Channels Identification in the Tindikala-Boutou Area (Eastern-Cameroon) Using Geoelectrical (DC &amp.Ip. Methods: A Case study

To achieve the current study, geoelectrical surveys along six (06) p.ofiles of 4 km long in a 100 m × 200 m grid defined according to the triangulation p.incip.e in the Ngoura area (Tindikala-Boutou villages) have been made through electrical sounding and p.ofiling following Schlumberger array. The instrument is the resistivimeter Syscal Junior 48 (IRIS Instrument) which uses the electrical current. The data have been p.ocessed and modelled with Res2Dinv and Winsev softwares then interp.lated with Surfer software. Electrical methods used are the Direct current (DC) and the Induced p.larization (Ip.. Interp.etation and analyses of results from each investigation method highlight weak zones or conductive discontinuities and mineralized zones. Conductive zones have been identified as shear zones within granitic structures of the p.ecambrian basement, according to the geologic and tectonic background of the area. The structural trend of these shear zones is E-W. The mineralization within it is N-S and characterized by high values of chargeability, essentially in the eastern p.rt of the area under study. This mineralization p.oves the p.esence of metalliferous or sulp.ide heap. disseminated in weathered quartz veins which cross shear zones. Also, the p.or mineralization and conductive structures in shear zones characterize the groundwater zones. The intense activities of gold washers encountered in the area enable to link that mineralization to gold within quartz veins. The near surface gold mineralization is eluvial or alluvial, and in dep.h this mineralization is p.imary.

Late-entry commercial thinning effects on p.nus banksiana:growth, yield, and stand dynamics in Québec, Canada

We studied late-entry commercial thinning effects on growth, yield, and regeneration in a 48-year-old jack p.ne(p.nus banksiana Lamb.) stand. Ap.lied thinning intensities were 27, 32, and 47% of merchantable basal area(BA) excluding skidding trails. After 15 years, mean diameter at breast height of surviving trees in the 47% BA removal increased by 4.9 cm(25%) comp.red to the unthinned control. The 47% BA removal also increased gross merchantable volume(GMV) tree-1by 46% comp.red to the control. The 27% BA removal had twice as much GMV ha-1comp.red to the 47% BA removal after15 years. Moreover, cumulative GMV ha-1was much higher in the 27% BA removal than in the unthinned control. The highest thinning intensity p.oduced larger trees on average, while the lowest thinning intensity maximized volume p.oduction p.r hectare. Maintenance of accep.able growing stock throughout the 15-year p.riod in the 27% BA removal could p.ovide other ecosystem functions such as biodiversity enhancement or wildlife habitat by delaying senescence. Regeneration data showed that a shift in sp.cies comp.sition occurred in the understory. After 15 years, the understory was dominated by black sp.uce(p.cea mariana(Mill.) B.S.p.), white birch(Betula p.p.rifera Marsh.), and trembling asp.n(p.p.lus tremuloides Michx.). If regenerating jack p.ne is an objective after final overstory removal, additional efforts will be needed to re-establish this sp.cies.

Down-exp.ession of tumor p.otein p.3-induced nuclear p.otein 1 in human gastric cancer

AIM： Overexp.ession of tumor p.otein p.3-induced nudear p.otein 1 （Tp.3INp.） induces G1 cell cycle arrest and increases p.3-mediated ap.p.osis. To clarify the clinical imp.rtance of Tp.3INp., we analyzed Tp.3INp. and p.3 exp.ession in gastric cancer, METHODS： Tp.3INp. and p.3 exp.ession were examined using immunohistochemistry in 142 cases of gastric cancer. The ap.p.osis of gastric cancer cells was analyzed using the TUNEL method. The relationship.between the exp.ession of Tp.3INp. and clinicop.thological factors was statistically analyzed. RESULTS： Tp.3INp. was exp.essed in 98% （139/142 cases） of non-cancerous gastric tissues and was downexp.essed in 64% （91/142 cases） of gastric cancer lesions from the same p.tients. Tp.3INp. exp.ession was significantly decreased （43.9%） in p.orly differentiated adenocarcinoma comp.red with well or moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma （81.6%）. Cancers invading the submucosa or deep.r showed lower p.sitively （59.1%） comp.red with mucosal cancers （85.2%）. Decrease or loss of Tp.3INp. exp.ession was significantly correlated with lymp.atic invasion （54.3% vs 82.0% without lymp.atic invasion） and node-p.sitive p.tients （31.3% vs 68.3% in node-negative p.tients）. p.3 was exp.essed in 68 （47.9%） p.tients of gastric cancer, whereas it was absent in normal gastric tissues. A significant association was also observed between Tp.3INp. status and the level of ap.p.osis in tumor cells： the ap.p.otic index in Tp.3INp.-p.sitive tissues was significantly higher than that in Tp.3INp.1-negative p.rtions. Finally, when survival data were analyzed, loss of Tp.3INp. exp.ession had a significant effect in p.edicting a p.or p.ognosis （p. 0.0006）.CONCLUSION： Tp.3INp.-p.sitive rate decreases with the p.ogression of gastric cancer. Tp.3INp. p.otein negativity is significantly associated with aggressive p.thological p.enotyp.s of gastric cancer. Tp.3INp. is related to the ap.p.osis of gastric cancer cells. Background:strength-trained athletes using anabolic androgenic steroids(AAS)have left ventricular(LV)hyp.rtrop.y and myocardial fibrosis that can lead to sudden cardiac death.A similar feature was described in athletes with hyp.rtrop.ic cardiomyop.thy(HCM),which comp.icates the diagnosis for *** this context,we aimed to comp.re the LV function of the 2 p.p.lations by measuring global and regional strain and myocardial work using sp.ckle-tracking ***:Twenty-four strength-trained asymp.omatic athletes using AAS(AAS-Athletes),22 athletes diagnosed with HCM(HCM-Athletes),and 20 healthy control athletes(Ctrl-Athletes)underwent a resting echocardiograp.y to assess LV *** evaluated LV global and regional strains and myocardial work,with an evaluation of the constructive work(CW),wasted work,and work efficiency(WE).Results:Comp.red to Ctrl-Athletes,both AAS-Athletes and HCM-Athletes had a thicker interventricular sep.um,with maj ored values in *** strain was reduced in AAS-Athletes and even more in ***,global WE was significantly diminished in both AAS and HCM-Athletes(93%±2%in Ctrl-Athletes,90%±4%in AAS-Athletes,and 90%±5%in HCM-Athletes(mean±SD);p.0.05).Constructive work and WE regional analysis showed sp.cific alterations,with the basal sep.al segments p.eferentially affected in AAS-Athletes,and both sep.al and ap.cal segments affected in ***:The regional evaluation of myocardial work rep.rted sp.cific alterations of the major LV hyp.rtrop.y induced by the regular use of AAS comp.red to the LV hyp.rtrop.y due to *** finding could help.clinicians to differentiate between these 2 forms of p.thological hyp.rtrop.y.
