Lignocellulosic nanofibers(LCNFs),implying lignin-containing cellulose fibers,maintain the prop-erties of both lignin and cellulose,which are hydrophobic and hydrophilic,*** pres-ence of hydrophobic lignin in LCNFs is expected to be an economical and attractive option that can improve the thermal and mechanical properties of ***,this study was conducted to produce lignin-rich LCNFs from sugar-rich waste obtained from rice husks after acidic *** LCNFs were produced from the lignin-rich solid fractions obtained after pretreatment and enzymatic hydrolysis,which were then incorporated as an additive into a chitosan-based *** variations in lignin content in the range of approximately 50.6%-66.8%in differently obtained LCNFs gave significantly different optical strengths and mechanical *** controllable processes may allow for customized film ***,the glucose-rich liquid fractions obtained after pretreatment and enzymatic hydrolysis were used as a substrate for ethanol fermentation to achieve total utilization of rice husk biomass *** conclusion,the lignin-rich biomass fraction holds promise as a suitable material for chitosan-LCNF film and has the potential to increase the economic feasibility of the biomaterial industry.

Reusable high performance of calcined Mg/Al hydrotalcite for the removal of Navy Blue and Yellow F3G dyes

Water pollution with dye chemicals from apparel industries is a serious problem in the *** most of dyes are potentially have toxic and carcinogenic effects on human,it is important to remove them before they are discharged to the *** many methods available for dyes removal in water,adsorption is the easiest and economically feasible that has no major obstacle for practical *** the present study,we tested calcined Mg/Al hydrotalcite(Mg/Al CHT)prepared by coprecipitation technique as an adsorbent for the removal of Navy Blue(NB)and Yellow F3G(YF3G)***/Al CHT was characterized by using a Fourier transform infrared(FTIR)spectrometer,an X-ray diffractometer(XRD)and a scanning electron microscope(SEM).The results showed that Mg/Al CHT was highly effective as an adsorbent for the removal of NB and YF3G under mild-acidic condition(pH 4)with removal capacities(b)according to Langmuir isotherm model were 7.97×10^(–4) and 5.80×10^(–4)mol·g^(-1),*** study showed that the adsorption of NB and YF3D on Mg/Al CHT followed pseudosecond order with rate constant(k_(p2))11.57×10^(3) and 11.75×103 g·mol^(-1)·min-1,*** spent adsorbent can be easily regenerated by simply calcining it at 450℃ for 3 *** test on the mixture of NB and YF3G showed that the adsorption capacity of Mg/Al CHT was eightfold higher than that of Mg/Al HT and the value was maintained with repeated use.

The performance of solar cells using chlorophyll dye from Syzygium paniculatum

In this study,analysis was performed of the macro characterization of solar cells with chlorophyll dye from Syzygium paniculatum,using scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and energy-dispersive X-ray(EDX)*** cells based on titanium dioxide(TiO_(2))nanomaterial and chlorophyll dye from *** can increase efficiency due to flavonoids and batulinic acid *** TiO_(2) is one of the essential factors determining the photovoltaic properties of dye-sensitized solar cells(DSSCs)and shade,which broadens the absorption ***,the method used in this research involved varying the colour of the *** leaves,namely red(SP-Red),green(SP-Green)and a red-green mix(SP-Mix).From a macro analysis,SEM observations resulted in agglomerated and aggregated TiO_(2)-polyethylene glycol(PEG)-dye layers with irregular *** observation resulted in a peak in Ti at 5 keV and all constituents were detected with an O:Ti ratio of 3.47:1 for FTO-TiO2/PEG using *** of voltage-current(IV)using a digital multimeter indicated that the best occurred in the DSSC with SP-Green,resulting in a short-circuit current density(Isc)of 0.0047 mA/cm2,an open-circuit voltage(Voc)of 0.432 V,a charging factor(FF)of 0.749 and an efficiency(η)of 3.724%.

Practical Options for Adopting Recurrent Neural Network and Its Variants on Remaining Useful Life Prediction

The remaining useful life(RUL)of a system is generally predicted by utilising the data collected from the sensors that continuously monitor different ***,different deep learning(DL)techniques have been used for RUL prediction and achieved great *** the data is often time-sequential,recurrent neural network(RNN)has attracted significant interests due to its efficiency in dealing with such *** paper systematically reviews RNN and its variants for RUL prediction,with a specific focus on understanding how different components(e.g.,types of optimisers and activation functions)or parameters(e.g.,sequence length,neuron quantities)affect their *** that,a case study using the well-studied NASA’s C-MAPSS dataset is presented to quantitatively evaluate the influence of various state-of-the-art RNN structures on the RUL prediction *** result suggests that the variant methods usually perform better than the original RNN,and among which,Bi-directional Long Short-Term Memory generally has the best performance in terms of stability,precision and *** model structures may fail to produce valid RUL prediction result due to the gradient vanishing or gradient exploring problem if the parameters are not chosen *** is concluded that parameter tuning is a crucial step to achieve optimal prediction performance.

Performance of Bacillus tropicus on Mechanical,Durable and Crack Remediation Properties in Sustainable Vermiculite Concrete

Sustainable cement-based concrete materials are primarily used for construction,among which vermiculite as lightweight fine aggregate gains more future development ***,a bacterial solution was sprayed over vermiculite and wrapped using calcium sulphoaluminate(CSA)cement to replace with fine aggregate in ***,based on a preliminary test on compressive strength results,10%of Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag(GGBS)and a healing solution proportion of 9:1 was selected for preparing self-healing *** fine aggregate was replaced in concrete using vermiculite in 0%,5%,10%and 15%and the findings suggest that bacterial vermiculite replacement should be at most 5%to achieve better results in strength and durable *** strength enhancement observed for compressive strength,strength regain,split tensile strength,flexural strength,and ultrasonic pulse velocity were 29.22%,45.5%,34.02%,28.03%and 41.4%*** crack healing at 7,14 and 28 days of BIVC was 38.23%,58.82%and 79.41%,which is 3–4%lower than internal crack *** analysis by Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM),X-Ray Diffractometer(XRD),and Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy(EDS)reveals the existence of calcite,and it was formed due to the bio-mineral action of bacteria with available nutrients in sustainable concrete.

A note on general solution of Stokes equations

Li et al. (2015) claim that it is sufficient to use two harmonic functions to express the general solution of Stokes equations. In this paper, we demonstrate that this is not true in a general case and that we in fact need three scalar harmonic functions to represent the general solution of Stokes equations (Venkatalaxmi et al., 2004).

An evaluation of force-based design *** displacement-based design of jointed precast post-tensioned wall systems

The unique features of jointed post-tensioned wall systems, which include minimum structural damage and re-centering capability when subjected to earthquake lateral loads, are the result of using unbonded post-tensioning to attach the walls to the foundation, along with employing energy dissipating shear connectors between the walls. Using acceptance criteria defined in terms of inter-story drift, residual drift, and floor acceleration, this study presents a multiplelevel performance-based seismic evaluation of two five-story unbonded post-tensioned jointed precast wall systems. The design and analysis of these two wall systems, established as the direct displacement-based and force-based solutions for a prototype building used in the PREcast Seismic Structural Systems （PRESSS） program, were performed at 60% scale so that the analysis model could be validated using the PRESSS test data. Both buildings satisfied the performance criteria at four levels of earthquake motions although the design base shear of the direct displacement-based jointed wall system was 50% of that demanded by the force-based design method. The study also investigated the feasibility of controlling the maximum transient inter-story drift in a jointed wall system by increasing the number of energy dissipating shear connectors between the walls but without significantly affecting its re-centering capability.

eterminants of financial-risk preparedness for climate change:Case of Fiji

There is a growing concern among central bankers that climate change poses not only serious environmental problems but also a potentialeconomic and financial *** study first confirms a hypothesized theoretical framework with different dimensions of the overall pre-paredness for climate related financial risk in the Fijian context,and then utilizes this framework to assess the present risk preparedness in *** tested two Confirmatory Factor Analysis(CFA)models in Structural Equation Modeling(SEM)Framework to analyse the survey *** these models using several fit *** first CFA model included four correlated latent factors defined by multiple indicators(items)reflecting four hypothesized *** four latent factors were correlated *** second CFA model included a second-order multi-level constructs reflecting overall preparedness along with four constituent *** four dimensional factors showed sig-nificant and substantial loadings towards overall risk preparedness suggesting that there also exists an overall higher order *** modelfit indices showed that this second-order CFA model has an acceptable model *** results confirm that the four hypothesised dimensionsepolitical leadership(Political),administrative direction(Administration),international standards(Standards)and supervisory mechanisms(Supervision)eare identifiable and distinct *** addition to the four dimensions,the results suggest that overall preparedness should alsobe tackled in a multi-level integrated *** results also reveal that political initiatives would be futile without proper administrativedirection and strong supervisory *** theoretical framework can also be used to assess financial systems in other developingcountries with similar socioeconomic contexts.
