Incidental focal colorectal ^(18)F-fluorodeoxyglucose uptake on positron emission tomography/computed tomography

AIM: To assess the clinical significance of incidental focal colorectal 18 F-fluorodeoxyglucose ( 18 F-FDG) uptake on 18 F-FDG-positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT). METHODS: The records of all the cases which had undergone colonoscopy after PET/CT within a two weeks interval were reviewed. Adenomas were considered advanced when they were villous, ≥ 10 mm in size, or had high-grade dysplasia. Colorectal cancers and advanced adenomas are collectively referred to as advanced colorectal neoplasms. Receiver-operating characteristic curve analysis was used to determine thesignificant predictive maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) cutoff value for advanced colorectal neoplasms and cancer. RESULTS: Ninety-five colorectal lesions matched the site of incidental focal colorectal 18 F-FDG uptake on PET/CT and 146 did not. Colonoscopy showed advanced colorectal neoplasms corresponding to the site of 18 F-FDG uptake in 49 of the 95 (51.5%) lesions with incidental uptake. Of the lesions without incidental uptake, only 6 of 146 (4.1%) had advanced colorectal neoplasms on colonoscopy, indicating a statistically significant difference between the two groups (P < 0.001). The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV), and accuracy of incidental focal 18 F-FDG uptake in identifying advanced colorectal neoplasms were 89.1%, 75.3%, 51.6%, 95.9%, and 78.4%, respectively. In detecting only CRC, these values were 89.2%, 69.6%, 34.7%, 97.3%, and 72.6%, respectively. The significant SUVmax cutoff value for advanced colorectal neoplasms (area under the curve 0.755, P < 0.001) was 4.35, with a sensitivity, specificity, PPV, NPV, and accuracy of 75.5%, 65.2%, 69.8%, 71.4% and 70.5%, respectively. For CRC, 5.05 was the significant SUVmax cutoff value (area under the curve 0.817, P < 0.001), with a sensitivity, specificity, PPV, NPV, and accuracy of 84.8%, 71.0%, 80.9%, 89.8%, and 75.8%, respectively. Follow-up strategy for early detection of delayed pseudoaneurysms in patients with blunt traumatic spleen injury: A single-center retrospective study

Objective:Precision medicine approaches emphasize the importance of reliable prognostic tools for guiding individualized therapy *** this study,we evaluated the clinical feasibility of the single patient classifier(SPC)test,a new clinical-grade prognostic assay,in stageⅡ-Ⅲgastric cancer ***:A prospective multicenter study was conducted,involving 237 patients who underwent gastrectomy between September 2019 and August 2020 across nine *** SPC test was employed to stratify patients into risk groups,and its feasibility and performance were *** primary endpoint was the proportion of the cases in which the test results were timely delivered before selecting postoperative ***,3-year disease-free survivals of risk groups were ***:The SPC test met the primary endpoint *** 99.5%of SPC tests were timely delivered to hospitals before the postoperative treatment *** a clinical setting,the median time from the specimen transfer to laboratory to the result delivery to hospital was 4 ***,3-year disease-free survivals were significantly different between risk groups classified with SPC ***:This study highlights the SPC test's feasibility in offering crucial information timely delivered for making informed decisions regarding postoperative treatment *** also provides evidence to support the implementation of a future prospective clinical trial aimed at evaluating the clinical utility of the SPC test in guiding personalized treatment decisions for gastric cancer patients.

Efective Object Identification and Association by Varying Coverage Through RFID Power Control

This paper presents an effective power scheduling strategy for energy efficient multiple objects identification and association. The proposed method can be utilized in many heterogeneous surveillance systems with visual sensors and RFID （radio-frequency identification） readers where energy efficiency as well as association rate are critical Multiple objects positions and trajectory estimates are used to decide the power level of RFID readers. Several key parameters including the time windows and the distance separations are defined in the method in order to minimize the effects of RFID coverage uncertainty. The power cost model is defined and incorporated into the method to minimize energy consumption and to maximize association performance. The proposed method computes the power cost using the range of the outermost position for possible single association and group associations at every sampling time. An RFID reader is activated with the proper coverage range when the power cost for the current time is lower than the power cost for the next time sample. The simplicity of the power cost model relieves the problematic combinatorial comparisons in multiple object cases. The performance comparison simulation with the minimum and maximum energy consumption shows that the proposed method achieves fast single associations with less energy consumption. Finally, the realistic comparison simulation with the fixed range RFID readers demonstrates that the proposed method outperforms the fixed ranges in terms of single association rate and energy consumption.

Effect of Annealing Atmosphere on the Mechanical Property of Free-cutting Phosphor Bronze Alloy

The present work is focused on the influence of annealing atmosphere on the microstructure and mechanical property of free-cutting phosphor bronze *** annealing of the alloy was conducted in the three kinds of annealing atmosphere such as air,vacuum and *** annealing,a discernable difference in recystallized grain size and lead particle size was not appeared with different annealing *** tensile strength of the alloy annealed in air or nitrogen atmosphere was higher than that of those annealed in vacuum *** thecase of the alloy annealed in vacuum atmosphere,the mechanical strength was reduced by vaporization of *** the case of annealing in nitrogen and in air atmosphere,the sweating of lead was ***,the inverse segregation of lead was suppressed by copper oxide layer on the surface annealed in *** copper oxide layer leads to a decrease of the yield during fabrication process. Therefore,annealing of the alloy in nitrogen atmosphere is favorable in terms of the mechanical strength and yield.
