Improved Supervised and Unsupervised Metaheuristic-Based Approaches to Detect Intrusion in Various Datasets

Due to the increasing number of cyber-attacks,the necessity to develop efficient intrusion detection systems(IDS)is more imperative than *** IDS research,the most effectively used methodology is based on supervised Neural Networks(NN)and unsupervised clustering,but there are few works dedicated to their hybridization with metaheuristic *** intrusion detection data usually contains several features,it is essential to select the best ones *** Discriminant Analysis(LDA)and t-statistic are considered as efficient conventional techniques to select the best features,but they have been little exploited in IDS ***,the research proposed in this paper can be summarized as follows.a)The proposed approach aims to use hybridized unsupervised and hybridized supervised detection processes of all the attack categories in the CICIDS2017 ***,owing to the large size of the CICIDS2017 Dataset,only 25%of the data was used.b)As a feature selection method,the LDAperformancemeasure is chosen and combinedwith the t-statistic.c)For intrusion detection,unsupervised Fuzzy C-means(FCM)clustering and supervised Back-propagation NN are adopted.d)In addition and in order to enhance the suggested classifiers,FCM and NN are hybridized with the seven most known metaheuristic algorithms,including Genetic Algorithm(GA),Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO),Differential Evolution(DE),Cultural Algorithm(CA),Harmony Search(HS),Ant-Lion Optimizer(ALO)and Black Hole(BH)*** metrics extracted from confusion matrices,such as accuracy,precision,sensitivity and F1-score are *** experimental result for the proposed intrusion detection,based on training and test CICIDS2017 datasets,indicated that PSO,GA and ALO-based NNs can achieve promising ***-NN produces a tested accuracy,global sensitivity and F1-score of 99.97%,99.95%and 99.96%,respectively,outperforming performance concluded in several related ***,the best-p

This paper focuses on the unsupervised detection of the Higgs boson particle using the most informative features and variables which characterize the“Higgs machine learning challenge 2014”data *** unsupervised detection goes in this paper analysis through 4 steps:(1)selection of the most informative features from the considered data;(2)definition of the number of clusters based on the elbow *** experimental results showed that the optimal number of clusters that group the considered data in an unsupervised manner corresponds to 2 clusters;(3)proposition of a new approach for hybridization of both hard and fuzzy clustering tuned with Ant Lion Optimization(ALO);(4)comparison with some existing metaheuristic optimizations such as Genetic Algorithm(GA)and Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO).By employing a multi-angle analysis based on the cluster validation indices,the confusion matrix,the efficiencies and purities rates,the average cost variation,the computational time and the Sammon mapping visualization,the results highlight the effectiveness of the improved Gustafson-Kessel algorithm optimized withALO(ALOGK)to validate the proposed *** if the paper gives a complete clustering analysis,its novel contribution concerns only the Steps(1)and(3)considered *** first contribution lies in the method used for Step(1)to select the most informative features and *** used the t-Statistic technique to rank ***,a feature mapping is applied using Self-Organizing Map(SOM)to identify the level of correlation between ***,Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO),a metaheuristic optimization technique,is used to reduce the data set *** second contribution of thiswork concern the third step,where each one of the clustering algorithms as K-means(KM),Global K-means(GlobalKM),Partitioning AroundMedoids(PAM),Fuzzy C-means(FCM),Gustafson-Kessel(GK)and Gath-Geva(GG)is optimized and tuned with ALO.

New Denial of Service Attacks Detection Approach Using Hybridized Deep Neural Networks and Balanced Datasets

Denial of Service(DoS/DDoS)intrusions are damaging cyberattacks,and their identification is of great interest to the Intrusion Detection System(IDS).Existing IDS are mainly based on Machine Learning(ML)methods including Deep Neural Networks(DNN),but which are rarely hybridized with other *** intrusion data used are generally imbalanced and contain multiple ***,the proposed approach aims to use a DNN-based method to detect DoS/DDoS attacks using CICIDS2017,CSE-CICIDS2018 and CICDDoS 2019 datasets,according to the following key points.a)Three imbalanced CICIDS2017-2018-2019 datasets,including Benign and DoS/DDoS attack classes,are used.b)A new technique based on K-means is developed to obtain semi-balanced datasets.c)As a feature selectionmethod,LDA(Linear Discriminant Analysis)performance measure is chosen.d)Four metaheuristic algorithms,counting Artificial Immune System(AIS),Firefly Algorithm(FA),Invasive Weeds Optimization(IWO)and Cuckoo Search(CS)are used,for the first time together,to increase the performance of the suggested DNN-based DoS attacks *** experimental results,based on semi-balanced training and test datasets,indicated that AIS,FA,IWO and CS-based DNNs can achieve promising results,even when ***-DNN yields a tested accuracy of 99.97%,99.98%and 99.99%,for the three considered datasets,respectively,outperforming performance established in several related works.

Lupus and Pregnancy

Introduction: Systemic lupus erythematosus is a multifactorial autoimmune disease characterised by its clinical polymorphism and its course in flares. The aim of our study was to determine the effects of pregnancy on lupus and vice versa. Material and Methods: This is a retrospective study conducted over a period of 14 years from 2002 to 2015. We included cases of systemic lupus erythematosus associated with pregnancy followed at the obstetrics and gynecology department “C” of the Ibn Rochd University Hospital in Casablanca. Results: The mean age of our parturients was 31.4 years. All our patients were known to have lupus and were followed up. Pregnancy was terminated in six (20%) cases. We noted one (3%) case of intrauterine fetal death, four (13%) cases of intrauterine growth retardation, and five (16%) cases of prematurity. Lupus flare during pregnancy occurred in 16 (52%) cases, including one (3%) patient who developed superimposed pre-eclampsia, had a renal relapse in the third trimester requiring an abortion at 32 weeks of gestation with three sessions of hemodialysis, and another patient who developed eclampsia. Conclusion: A better understanding of the aggravating factors and compatible treatments has led to a more widespread authorization of pregnancy.

Prevalence and Risk Factors of Osteonecrosis of the Jaw in Patients with Bisphosphonate Exposure in Casablanca, Morocco: An Observational Study

Objective: To study the prevalence of bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (BRONJ) and to determine the risk factors associated with the occurrence of this pathology. Method: An observational retrospective study was conducted in the Department of Oncology, Rheumatology, and Maxillofacial Surgery of Ibn Rochd University Hospital, Casablanca. The study utilized complete medical records from 2014 to 2022 and included consultations of patients receiving bisphosphonates (BPs) in July and September 2022. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS version 16.0. Results: Our study population comprised 104 patients, of whom 91% were women and 49% were over 65 years old. Seventy-two percent of patients had a general pathology. Among them, 64 patients were treated with zoledronate, 43 with alendronate, and the remainder with risedronate, ibandronate, and pamidronate. The most common indications for treatment were bone metastasis following breast cancer (29.8%) and osteoporotic fractures (19.2%). Sixty-seven patients received intravenous (IV) treatment;only 10.5% exhibited good oral health. Fifty percent of patients underwent dental treatment, primarily tooth extractions. Osteonecrosis of the jaw (ONJ) was diagnosed in 1.9% of patients, predominantly in stages 1 and 2. Conclusion: Second and third-generation bisphosphonates are more strongly associated with the development of ONJ. Risk factors include monthly IV administration, poor oral health, comorbidities such as diabetes, medications like corticosteroids, invasive dental procedures, and not only oncological conditions but also rare indications such as bone algodystrophy. Nevertheless, our observed prevalence of 1.9% aligns with international rates ranging from 0.8% to 12%. However, most of the studies that have been carried out have been retrospective studies with insufficient numbers of patients. Preliminary Palynostratigraphic Data on the Middle Albian-Lower Cenomanian of the Tarfaya Basin, Southwest Morocco

The Tarfaya-Laayoune-Boujdour basin is of great interest to oil exploration;on this aspect, there has been exploration by the Moroccan National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mining, which has shown indices of oil and/or gas recorded in most wells drilled in the Moroccan Atlantic margin. FD-1 well, object of this study, is one of these wells located in the offshore Tarfaya-Laayoune-Boujdour basin. A palynological examination of the processed samples revealed the existence of organic palynomorphs, well conserved and rich in dinoflagellate cysts. The latter are composed of worldwide marker taxa of high stratigraphic resolutions. Thus, the middle upper Albian (3408 - 3408.5 m) is determined by the presence of Cribroperidinium tensiftense, Tehamadinium coummia, Spiniferella cornuta, Chichaouadinium vestitum, Dinopterygium alatum and Litosphaeridium arundum. The upper Albian (3406.5 - 3408 m) is characterized by the FOs of marker taxa: Cyclonephelium chabaca, Cribroperidinium auctificum and Chichaouadinium vestitum. Lastly, the upper Albian-lower Cenomanian transition is defined between 3404 m and 3406.50 m, as suggested by the FOs of Chichaouadinium boydii, Dinopterygium tuberculatum, Sepispinula ancorifera, Litosphaeridium conispinum, Prolixosphaeridium conulum and Xenascus ceratioides.

Return to Dialysis after Kidney Graft Failure

Introduction: The transition period from renal transplantation to dialysis is associated with high morbidity and mortality. The aim of this study is to describe the clinical and paraclinical characteristics, therapeutic management and evolutionary profile of patients returning to dialysis after kidney graft failure. Material and Methods: This was a retrospective, descriptive study conducted in the Nephrology-Dialysis-Renal Transplant Department at university hospital IbnSina between January 1998 and December 2021. We included all renal transplant recipients who had experienced kidney graft dysfunction and returned to dialysis. Patients with a follow-up after return to dialysis of less than 1 year were excluded. Results: Among 166 renal transplant recipients, 20 returned to dialysis after a median renal graft life of 85.5 months [42 - 186], corresponding to a prevalence of 12%. The mean age of our patients was 38.7 ± 11.9 years, with a M/F sex ratio of 2.3. Dialysis was initiated urgently in 10 patients (50%). Hemodialysis was the most commonly used modality (75%). Central venous catheterization was used in 35% of cases, including tunneled catheters. General condition is impaired in all patients, with persistent hypertension in 70% of cases. Mean uremia was 2.35 ± 0.8 g/l, mean creatinine 116 ± 48.3 mg/l, giving a mean GFR of 5.1 ± 2.2 ml/min. Mean albuminemia was 32.9 ± 6 g/l and mean hemoglobinemia 8.6 ± 1.9 g/dl. During the first year of follow-up, none of the patients died. However, 13 patients required hospitalization, with a mean length of stay of 15 days. Eight patients were hospitalized for infections and 5 for renal graft intolerance syndrome. After a mean follow-up of 22 months, 6 patients were detransplanted following graft necrosis. Conclusion: Return to dialysis after RT is fraught with a high rate of complications. The management of these patients must be optimized to improve their vital prognosis and quality of life.

Comparison between PI-DTC-SPWM and fuzzy logic for a sensorless asynchronous motor drive

Currently, asynchronous cage motors are among the most commonly requested machines accentuated by their extension to the field of electric vehicles. Therefore, the development of robust and sophisticated controls for this machine is of significant interest. Artificial intelligence control techniques, such as fuzzy logic, are at the forefront of recent research. However, their design becomes much more complicated for a motor via a multilevel inverter. The main purpose of this paper is to show that it is possible to achieve fuzzy logic control of a squirrel cage asynchronous motor supplied via the usual two-level inverter. This is achieved, by adopting a DTC strategy based on a sinusoidal PWM with multilevel inverter. It employs a feedback information estimator with dual structure between the sliding mode observer at low speed and the model reference adaptive system in sliding mode at high speed. For both installations, speed is regulated using a sliding mode controller.

We show in this work that the limit in law of the cross-variation of processes having the form of Young integral with respect to a general self-similar centered Gaussian process of orderβ∈(1/2,3/4]is normal according to the values ofβ.We apply our results to two self-similar Gaussian processes:the subfractional Brownian motion and the bifractional Brownian motion.

Sliding mode approach applied to sensorless direct torque control of cage asynchronous motor via multi-level inverter

To improve the robustness and performance of the dynamic response of a cage asynchronous motor,a direct torque control(DTC)based on sliding mode control(SMC)is adopted to replace traditional proportional-integral(PI)and hysteresis *** combination of the proposed strategy with sinusoidal pulse width modulation(SPWM)applied to a three-level neutral point clamped(NPC)inverter brings many advantages such as a reduction in harmonics,and precise and rapid tracking of the *** are performed for a three-level inverter with SM-DTC,a two-level inverter with SM-DTC and the three-level inverter with *** results show that the SM-DTC method achieves better performance in terms of reference tracking,while adoption of the threelevel inverter topology can effectively reduce the *** the SM-DTC to the three-level inverter presents the best solution for achieving efficient and robust *** addition,the use of a sliding mode speed estimator eliminates the mechanical sensor and this increases the reliability of the system.
