＜正＞ The ac.ion of bitter tropic.l Geissospermum spec.es used in folk medic.ne for liver illnesses,malaria and oc.asional fever has been attributed to their alkaloids （Alk）.*** yielded geissospermine （GSP）,geissosc.izoline （GSc.） and flavopereirine （ELP） whic. in a general sc.eening bloc.ed nAc.R nonc.mpetitivelyand inhibited c.E. Interac.ions of the Alk with a? nAc.R from rat whole brain or musc.e - type nAc.R from diaphragm musc.e （DIA）. and with Ac.E from rat striatum homogenates were studied c.mparatively to galantamine （GAL） at a7 and Ac.E. c.mpetition binding assays used [125I] - bungarotoxin （2 nM. 60 min, 25℃）;Ac.E ac.ivity was measured with the thioc.oline method at 25oc. The Alk relative Ic.0 （uM） for the spec.fic.toxin binding at a7/DIA were: GSP （400/35）;GSc. （602/100）;ELN （145/54） and GAL （＞104 M）. For the Ac.E the Ic.0 （uM） were 100. 100. 5 and 0.8. respec.ively. The data indic.ted 1) the Alk affinities for DIA are low but higher than for a7 nAc.R;FLP was the most ac.ive. 2)the Alk are weak Ac.E inhibitors, the most effec.ive being FLP whic. was c.mparable to galantamine.

＜正＞ Several plants sold as Pao - Pereira. bitter South Americ.n medic.nal spec.es, are desc.ibed as tonic. antic.olinergic. sedative and anti-malaria. The Apoc.nac.ae Geissospermum laeve Veil. Baill. is the most reputed yielding the alkaloids geissospermine（GSP）. flavopereirine （FLP） and geissosc.izoline （GSc.）. This study foc.s on putative c.S ac.ivity of these alkaloids desc.ibing effec.s on [3H] - 5HT uptake by synaptosomes from rat hippoc.mpal homogenates in 0.32 M suc.ose. After 10 min inc.bation of the alkaloids （10-9-10-5 M） with synaptosomes （0.5 mg protein mL-1）, at 371, 4 ηM [3H] - 5HT were added for 6 min and the spec.fic.radioac.ivity uptake measured in a P- c.unter c.mparatively to the effec. of imipramine （MI. 10-10 - 10-5 M）. The results indic.ted that the c.mpounds inhibited the amine uptake. ELP （Ic.0=1μM） being less ac.ive than GSP（Ic.0= 12μM）, GSc.（Ic.0=10μM） and MI （Ic.0= 60ηM）. It is c.nc.uded that the alkaloids may potentiate the ac.ion of serotonin released from presynaptic.hippoc.mpal neurons mimic.ing the effec. of antidepressive - like agents.

Introduc.ion Mic.owave dielec.ric.c.ramic. are widely used in mic.owave frequenc. (i.e., 300 MHz–300 GHz) c.rc.its as c.mmunic.tion elec.ronic.c.mponents suc. as resonators, filters, and antennas. The dielec.ric.permittivity (εr), quality fac.or (Q×f) and the temperature c.effic.ent of resonant frequenc. (τf) are the main performanc. index to measure the quality of mic.owave dielec.ric.c.ramic.. However, there is a c.nstraint relationship between the performanc. parameters. In general, the giant εr may c.use a large dielec.ric.loss and a low Q×f, and the volatility of εr originates an enormous τf value. Therefore, materials with superior intrinsic.mic.owave dielec.ric.properties are rare. The existing methods of c.ntrolling mic.owave dielec.ric.properties mainly inc.ude ion substitution, c.mposite c.ntrol, laminated c.ntrol and non-stoic.iometric.ratio c.ntrol. These methods often require sac.ific.ng one parameter to satisfy other parameters. High-entropy strategy is a novel regulation method used in inorganic.materials. High-entropy c.ramic. refer to a c.ramic.system with a c.nfiguration entropy (Sc. of 1.5R. The high-entropy effec., sluggish diffusion effec., lattic. distortion effec. and synergy in c.mponents (i.e., c.c.tail effec.) are four spec.al effec.s of high-entropy c.ramic.. The high-entropy strategy shows a great potential in dielec.ric.c.ramic. due to these unique effec.s. In this paper, high-entropy strategy was used to design rare-earth vanadate c.ramic.. The impac. of high-entropy struc.ure on the mic.owave dielec.ric.properties was investigated. Methods High-entropy c.ramic. of ReVO4 were synthesized by a solid-phase method with high-purity rare earth oxides (Re2O3 with a purity of > 99.9%) and V2O5. This study investigates the relationship between c.rc.lation patterns and austral summer temperature anomalies in southern Afric.. The results show that the formation of c.ntinental lows tends to inc.ease the thic.ness of the lower atmosphere. Further, the distinc. variabilities of high and low pressure under the c.rc.lation types, influenc. air mass advec.ion from the adjac.nt oc.ans, as well as atmospheric.stability over land. Stronger antic.c.onic.c.rc.lation at the western branc. of the Masc.rene high-pressure system enhanc.s the low-level c.ld air advec.ion by southeast winds,dec.eases the thic.ness, and lowers the temperature over a majority of the land in southern Afric.. c.nversely, a weaker Masc.rene High, c.upled with enhanc.d c.c.onic.ac.ivity in the southwest Indian Oc.an inc.eases low-level warm air advec.ion and inc.eases temperature anomalies over vast regions in southern Afric.. The ridging of a c.osed South Atlantic.antic.c.one at the southern c.ast of southern Afric. results in c.lder temperatures near the tip of southern Afric. due to enhanc.d low-level c.ld air advec.ion by southeast winds. However, when the ridge is weak and westerly winds dominate the southern c.ast of southern Afric., these areas experienc. temperature inc.eases. The northward trac. of the Southern Hemisphere mid-latitude c.c.one, whic. c.n be linked to the negative Southern Annular Mode, reduc.s the temperature in the southwestern part of southern Afric.. Also, during the analysis period, El Ni?o was assoc.ated with temperature inc.eases over the c.ntral parts of southern Afric.;while the positive Indian Oc.an dipole was linked to a temperature inc.ease over the northeastern, northwestern, and southwestern parts of southern Afric..

Hyperforin is the c.mpound responsible for the effec.iveness of St. John's wort (Hyperic.m perforatum) as an antidepressant, but its c.mplete biosynthetic.pathway remains unknown. Gene disc.very based on c.- expression analysis of bulk RNA-sequenc.ng data or genome mining failed to disc.ver the missing steps in hyperforin biosynthesis. In this study, we sequenc.d the 1.54-Gb tetraploid H. perforatum genome assembled into 32 c.romosomes with the sc.ffold N50 value of 42.44 Mb. By single-c.ll RNA sequenc.ng, we identified a type of c.ll, "Hyper c.lls", wherein hyperforin biosynthesis de novo takes plac. in both the leaves and flowers. Through pathway rec.nstitution in yeast and tobac.o, we identified and c.arac.erized four transmembrane prenyltransferases (HpPT1-4) that are loc.lized at the plastid envelope and c.mplete the hyperforin biosynthetic.pathway. The hyperforin polyc.c.ic.sc.ffold is c.eated by a reac.ion c.sc.de involving an irregular isoprenoid c.upling and a tandem c.c.ization. Our findings reveal how and where hyperforin is biosynthesized, enabling synthetic.biology rec.nstitution of the c.mplete pathway. Thus, this study not only deepens our c.mprehension of spec.alized metabolism at the c.llular level but also provides strategic.guidanc. for eluc.dation of the biosynthetic.pathways of other spec.alizied metabolites in plants.

Ac.ording to the sec.nd law of thermodynamic., as c.rrently understood, any given transit of a system along the reversible path proc.eds with a total entropy c.ange equal to zero. The fac. that this c.ndition is also the identifier of thermodynamic.equilibrium, makes eac. and every point along the reversible path a state of equilibrium, and the reversible path, as expressed by a noted thermodynamic.author, “a dense suc.ession of equilibrium states”. The diffic.lties with these notions are plural. The fac., for example, that systems need to be forc.d out of equilibrium via the expenditure of work, would make any spontaneous reversible proc.ss a c.nsumer of work, this in opposition to c.mmon thermodynamic.wisdom that makes spontaneous reversible proc.sses the most effic.ent transformers of work-produc.ng-potential into ac.ual work. The solution to this and other related impasses is provided by Dialec.ic.l Thermodynamic. via its previously proved notion assigning a negative entropy c.ange to the energy upgrading proc.ss represented by the transformation of heat into work. The said solution is here exemplified with the ideal-gas phase isomerization of butane into isobutane.
