Bacterial Inoculation and Co-Inoculation Improves Durum Wheat Productivity in Alkaline Calcareous Soils

Intensive agricultural practices have undeniably reduced soil fertility and crop ***,alkaline calcareous soils represent a significant challenge for agricultural production,particularly durum wheat,which is vital for ensuring food *** is therefore essential to explore new cereal management strategies to maintain food production and promote crop *** application of soil microorganisms,particularly plant growth–promoting rhizobacteria(PGPR),as inoculants to enhance crop production is a growing area of *** study investigates the effects of the rhizobacteria Paenibacillus polymyxa SGH1 and SGK2,applied both individually and in combination,on the growth and productivity of durum wheat in alkaline calcareous *** conducted field experiments over two growing seasons using a randomized complete block design with three blocks,considering four treatments:non-inoculated wheat grains(T0),inoculation with the *** SGH1 strain(T1),inoculation with the *** SGK2 strain(T2),and co-inoculation with both strains(T3).The results clearly showed that SGH1 and SGK2 inoculation improved the morphometric characteristics of wheat plants,with co-inoculation of both strains that induced more pronounced improvements compared to T0 in terms of collar diameter(+16.9%),tillers plant-1(+89.8%),and SA/RA ratio(+35.5%).Co-inoculation was also the most effective treatment for improving the wheat grain yield(+41.1%in season I and+16.6%in season Ⅱ).In addition,T3 significantly increased the grain starch content(+220%).T1 determined the highest grain protein content in both seasons(9.5%in season Ⅰand 9.66%DW in season Ⅱ).This study demonstrated that bacterial inoculation and co-inoculation strategies can significantly enhance wheat productivity and grain quality in alkaline calcareous soils while reducing at the same time the ecological footprint of agriculture.

Exploitation of Locality for Energy Efficiency for Breadth First Search in Fine-Grain Execution Models

In the upcoming exa-scale era, the exploitation of data locality in parallel programs is very important because it benefits both program performance and energy efficiency. However, this is a hard topic for graph algorithms such as the Breadth First Search （BFS） due to the irregular data access patterns. This study analyzes the exploitation of data locality in the BFS and its impact on the energy efficiency with the Codelet fine-grain dataflow-inspired execution model. The Codelet Model more efficiently exploits data locality than the OpenMP-like execution models which traditionally focus on coarse-grain parallelism inside loops. A BFS algorithm is then given to exploit the locality between two loop iterations that belong to two different loops （inter-loop locality）. This kind of locality can be exploited by the Codelet Model but not by traditional coarse-grain execution models like OpenMR Tests were performed on fsim which is a simulation platform developed by Intel for the Ubiquitous High Performance Computing （UHPC） project to design future exa-scale architectures. The results show that this BFS algorithm saves up to 7% of the dynamic energy for memory accesses compared to a BFS implementation based on OpenMP loop scheduling.

Adsorption of dyes onto activated carbon prepared from olive stones

Activated carbon was produced from olive stones（OSAC） by a physical process in two steps. The adsorption character of this activated carbon was tested on three colour dyes molecules in aqueous solution： Methylene blue（MB）, Rhodamine B（RB） and Congo Red（CR）. The adsorption equilibrium was studied through isotherms construction at 30℃, which were well described by Langmuir model. The adsorption capacity on the OSAC was estimated to be 303 mg/g, 217 mg/g and 167 mg/g respectively for MB, RB and CR. This activated carbon has a similar adsorption properties to that of commercial ones and show the same adsorption performances. The adsorption kinetics of the MB molecule in aqueous solution at different initial concentrations by OSAC was also studied. Kinetic experiments were well fitted by a simple intra-particle diffusion model. The measured kinetics constant was influenced by the initial concentration and we found the following correlation： Kid = 1.55 C0^0.51.

The effectiveness of this paper lies in the influence of the discretization step on the asymptotic stability of the positive two-dimensional fractional linear *** aims at investigating whether,how and when this step affects the asymptotically stable two-dimensional positive fractional linear continuous-discrete *** accomplish this study,a new test was outlined and used so that the asymptotic stability of the system was measured both before and after being exposed to the sampling ***,the conditions of that stability were *** a result,the outcome of the approximation shows that the stability is preserved under a particular set of *** this basis,the newly proposed approach is recommended for testing the intended stability of such systems.A numerical example is tested to show the accuracy and the applicability of the proposed tests.

Water is a vital *** supports a multitude of industries,civilizations,and ***,climatic conditions impact water availability,particularly in desert areas where the temperature is high,and rain is ***,it is crucial to forecast water demand to provide it to sectors either on regular or emergency *** study aims to develop an accurate model to forecast daily water demand under the impact of climatic *** forecasting is known as a multivariate time series because it uses both the historical data of water demand and climatic conditions to forecast the *** on the collected data of Jeddah city,Saudi Arabia in the period between 2004 and 2018,we develop a hybrid approach that uses Artificial Neural Networks(ANN)for forecasting and Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm(PSO)for tuning ANNs’*** on the Root Mean Square Error(RMSE)metric,results show that the(PSO-ANN)is an accurate model for multivariate time series ***,the first day is the most difficult day for prediction(highest error rate),while the second day is the easiest to predict(lowest error rate).Finally,correlation analysis shows that the dew point is the most climatic factor affecting water demand.

Experimental and statistical investigation of a new concrete-composite beam with encased polymer tube wrapped by FRP

A new concrete-composite beam with high mechanical performances to weight ratio is developed in this study. The proposed design technique consists to embed a cylindrical polymer tube wrapped by a GFRP Jacket in the mechanically ineffective concrete tensile zone. An experimental investigation is carried out on composite beams under bending loads until failure to evaluate the flexural capacity and the corresponding failure mechanisms. Based on the experimental results, statistical and preliminary reliability analyses using the FORM method are performed to assess the safety margin of the new beam. The confrontation between test and simulation results shows a satisfactory agreement, and represents a promising revelation regarding the improvement in terms of strength and ductility of such design compared to conventional reinforced concrete beams with traditional one.

Ultrafast laser dynamics of metal organic frameworks/TiO_2 nano-arrays hybrid composites for energy conversion applications

Herein,we report the victorious synthesis of metal-organic frameworks(MOFs) on TiO_2 nanotubes(NTs)using a layer-by-layer(LbL) *** crystalline and homogenous thin films of MOFs were grown and characterized using XRD,SEM,FT-IR and UV/Vis ***,the utilization of the MOF films as sensitizers was probed in bespoke Graetzel type liquid junction solar *** constructed cell performance revealed an I_(sc) of 1.16 mA cm^(–2),Vocof 0.63 V,FF of 0.33,and E_(ff) of 0.42%.Further,pumpprobe transient laser spectroscopy was performed to investigate the energy and charge transfer dynamics of the MOFs/TiO_2 NTs *** results indicated 86% injection *** ultrafast pump-probe spectroscopy allows the investigation of this process and the differences between *** also showed that the relaxation of the MOF chromophores is in competition with electron injection in the Ti O2 *** this study provides a new insight into electron transfer from photoexcited metal-organic frameworks(MOFs) into titanium dioxide.

The effects of sand encroachment on composition,diversity,and functional patterns of vegetation in drylands are rarely studied,and yet addressing these aspects is important to deepen our understanding of the biodiversity *** study aimed to investigate the effect of sand encroachment on plant functional biodiversity of desert pavements(gravel deserts)in the Sahara Desert of *** were sampled and analyzed in three desert pavements with different levels of sand encroachment(LSE)and quantity of aeolian deposits(low,LLSE;medium,MLSE;and high,HLSE).Within the sample-plot area(100 m^(2)),density of every plant species was identified and total vegetation cover was *** taxonomic and functional diversity were analyzed and compared between *** showed that 19 plant species in desert pavements were classified into 18 genera and 13 *** and Poaceae were the most important *** species Anabasis articulata(Forssk)*** LLSE desert pavements with 11 species,whereas Thymelaea microphylla Coss.&Durieu ex *** Calobota saharae(C&D)Boatwr.&van Wyk were dominant species of desert pavements with MLSE(14 species)and HLSE(10 species),*** highest values of species richness and biodiversity were recorded in desert pavements with MLSE,while low values of these ecological parameters were obtained in desert pavements with *** pavements with LLSE were characterized with the highest values of species *** communities were dominated by chamaephytes,anemochorous,arido-active,and competitive stress-tolerant *** increase in LSE along the gradient from LLSE to HLSE induced significant changes in plant community variables including decreases in plant density,plant rarity,lifeform composition,morphological type,and aridity *** pavements with HLSE favor the degradation of vegetation and trigger biodiversity erosion.

A new colorimetric sensor based-azo dye for Cu^2+ detection was synthesized and characterized by FTIR and NMR spectroscopies. The results showed that the azo dye had a high selective and sensitive recognition toward Cu^2+. The solution containing the sensor changed color from pink to pale yellow with a hypsochromic shift in the presence of Cu^2+. The sensor selectivity and sensitivity toward Cu^2+ ions were investigated by colorimetry and UV-Vis spectroscopy. For practical applications, a cellulosic textile test strip for high-selectivity detection of Cu^2+ ions in aqueous solution was developed using the synthesized azo dye as chromogenic chemosensor molecule, while using a solid cellulose textile as a substrate. As a result, a spectacular color change of the test strip was observed do pending on the amount of copper ions in contact with the strip, which allows an estimation of Cu^2+ concentration by naked eye.
