LARCs after unsafe abortion in Libreville (Gabon): Women accept quickly but the time interval for the insertion is longer than that of injectable contraceptives

Objectives: To determine the percentage of women who accepted a LARC after abortion, specify the interval time for the insertion of the LARC and compare such interval time with that of injectable and oral contraceptives. Patients and Methods: This is a prospective, descriptive and comparative study conducted in Libreville (Gabon), from February 1, 2013 to August 31, 2013. After receiving post-abortion care (PAC), all patients with stable general states were counseled about three types of contraceptive methods: combined oral contraceptive pills, LARCs (Jadelle? implants, Copper IUDs) and injectable Medroxyprogesterone Acetate (DMPA). Results: 231 women received PAC and among them 215 (93%) wanted to use one of the three proposed contraceptive methods. At the end of the study, only 193 women (89.7%) used contraception and 22 others (10.3%) abandoned their intentions. LARCs were used by 31 (16.0%) women. The average period for the insertion of LARCs was 15.4 ± 15.5 days with extremes of 1 to 53 days. This period for the insertion of LARCS was significantly longer than that of other methods (p necessary to improve women awareness.

Introduction: The occurrence of pregnancy in women is a risky situation. Prenatal care is necessary, which is not often the case in our context. Aim: To analyze the influence of antenatal surveillance on maternal and perinatal prognosis. Patients and Method: Preliminary longitudinal and analytical survey at the Owendo University Hospital (OHU) over 6 months. It focused on prenatal surveillance. The study population consisted of parturients who gave birth within 24 hours and we studied sociodemographic characteristics, variables related to antenatal contact, those of delivery as well as maternal and newborn outcomes. Results: 2485 deliveries were recorded and 1300 patients were retained according to the inclusion criteria. No prenatal contact (ANC0) was performed in 93 (7.15%), insufficient (ANCI) in 943 patients (72.5%), and sufficient (ANCS) in 264 patients (20.30%). Patients with low school level were significantly found when the NPC was not performed or insufficient and the same was true for the group of patients who were not employed and those who were single (p negative impact on maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality.

Multiple sclerosis(MS)is the most common chronic disease of the central nervous system(CNS)in young adults and represents the first cause of severe handicap,originally non-traumatic(Oh et al.,2018).MS is chara cterized by the infiltration of auto reactive lymphocytes specific to myelin through the blood-brain barrier,which results in the appearance of inflammatory demyelinating lesions caused by the death of the central nervous system myelinating cells,oligodendrocytes(Oh et al.,2018).There is a prevalence sexual with a ratio of three times more affected women than men.

In this paper,a new isogeometric topology optimization(ITO)method is proposed by using T-splines based isogeometric analysis(IGA).The arbitrarily shaped design domains,directly obtained from CAD,are represented by a single T-spline surface which overcomes the topological limitations of Non-Uniform Rational B-Spline(NURBS).The coefficients correlated with control points are directly used as design ***,the T-spline basis functions applied for geometry description and calculation of structural response are simultaneously introduced to represent the density *** numerical examples show that the proposed approach leads to a coherent workflow to handle design problems of complicated *** optimized results are free of checkerboard patterns without additional stabilization and filtering techniques due to the properties of T-splines,which also simplified the *** addition,through performing local refinement,we can easily achieve multiresolution optimization and infill optimization within the T-splines based *** general,the proposed method provides a possibility to design,analyze,and optimize engineering structures in a uniform model,which has the potential to improve design efficiency and reduce the cost of product development.

Photovoltaic solar energy is still in its infancy in Burkina Faso, despite the country’s high solar potential. The electricity grid is experiencing an increase in demand for energy, creating a shortfall in supply. The Zagtouli photovoltaic solar power plant in Burkina Faso is the first milestone in the development of renewable photovoltaic energy, with a rated output of 33.6 Megawatts peak, to strengthen the electricity grid by reducing hydrocarbon consumption. The aim of this work is to evaluate the performance of the plant by proposing a performance score for the Zagtouli plant, which should provide a basis for assessing the performance of a power plant. To meet the objectives, we collected data for three consecutive years of production, from 2019 to 2021. From this data, we used the method based on the calculation of the performance indicators specified by the International Energy Agency (IEA) and described in the standardised norms IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) CEI61724, and we also carried out a performance classification using the K-Means method. It is clear that with the results obtained for the PR performance index (over 70%), the installation can be classified as one of the best-performing systems. It also emerges that various losses (temperatures on the panels, cabling, partial shading, spectral losses, dirt, and unexpected inverter failures) have a negative impact on the installation’s energy production.

Nonlinear behaviors are commonplace in many complex engineering applications,e.g.,metal forming,vehicle crash test and so *** paper focuses on the T-spline based isogeometric analysis of two-dimensional nonlinear problems including general large deformation hyperelastic problems and small deformation elastoplastic problems,to reveal the advantages of local refinement property of T-splines in describing nonlinear behavior of *** applying the adaptive refinement capability of T-splines during the iteration process of analysis,the numerical simulation accuracy of the nonlinear model could be increased *** Bézier extraction of the T-splines provides an element structure for isogeometric analysis that can be easily incorporated into existing nonlinear finite element *** addition,T-splines show great superiority of modeling complex geometries especially when the model is irregular and with hole *** numerical examples have been tested to validate the accuracy and convergence of the proposed *** obtained results are compared with those from NURBS-based isogeometric analysis and commercial software ABAQUS.

On-Farm Assessment of Biosolids Effects on Nitrogen and Phosphorus Accumulation in Soils

A field plot experiment in a calcareous soil with wheat and maize rotation was carried out for 2 yr. The study aimed to investigate the effects of biosolids （sewage sludge or chicken manure） application on nitrogen （N） and phosphorus （P） accumulation in soils and to develop a model for the effects of biosolids application on available P （Olsen-P） accumulation in soils, by which the quantities of biosolids that can be safely applied to agricultural soils were estimated. The results showed that heavy application of biosolids to agricultural soils based on the N requirement of a wheat-maize rotation cropping system will oversupply P. Soil total N was increased by 0.010 g kg-1 at application rate of 1 ton sewage sludge per hectare. The high ratio of N to P in grains of wheat and maize （from 4.0 to 7.6） and low ratio of N to P in biosolids （〈2） led to more surplus P accumulated in soils. Although plant yields and P uptake by plants increased with increasing quantities of applied biosolids in soils, there was still an average 2.87 mg kg-1 increase in Olsen-P in the plough layer treated with biosolids for every 100 kg P ha-1 surplus. A predictive model was developed based upon the initial Olsen-P in soils, P input rates, crop yield, soil pH, and cultivation time. From the model, it is suggested that sewage sludge could be applied to calcareous soils for 12 yr using the recommended application rate （9 tons ha-1 yr-1）. The field results will be helpful in achieving best management of biosolids application for agricultural production and environmental protection.

Mineralogical, physical and chemical analyses of the soils derived from Xiashu loess were carried out. The primary minerals of these soils were found to be mainly composed of light minerals, such as quartz, feldspar and mica, with traces of heavy minerals. Clay minerals, more complicate in composition, were dominated by hydromica, accompanied by smectite, vermiculite, chlorite, kaolinite, 2:1/1:1 randomly interstratified minerals and small amounts of quartz, goethite, lepidocrocite and hematite, Clay minerals were characterized by low crystallinity and fine particle size. In light of the quartz/ feldspars ratio of the 0.01-0.05mm silt fraction, and the clay mineral composition, the freeness of iron oxide, and the silica/ sesquioxide and silica/ alumina ratios in nerals increased from west to east and from north to south geographically. However, this general tendency did not coincide exactly with the gradual alteration of the geographic coordinates, and in some places, a reverse tendency also appeared, which could be attributed to the influence of some soil forming factors such as parent material and microtopography.

Surface Chemical Properties of Colloids in Main Soils of China

Surface chemical properties of soil colloids are the important factor affecting soil fertility and genesis. To provide scientific basis for soil genetic classification, promotion of soil fertility and reasonable fertilization, the specific surface area and electric charge of soil colloids in relation to clay minerals and organic matter are further discussed on the basis of the results obtained from the studies on surface chemical properties of soil colloids in five main soils of China. Results from the studies show that the effect of clay minerals and organic matter on the surface chemical properties of soil colloids is very complicated because the siloxane surface, hydrated oxide surface and organic matter surface do not exist separately, but they are always mixed together and influenced each other. The understanding of the relationship among clay minerals, organic matter and surface chemical properties of soil colloids depends upon further study of the relevant disciplines of soil science, especially the study on the mechanisms of organo-mineral complexes.
