Cardi.c li.ht chai. amyloi.osi. i. a medi.al emergency. Ai.: To hi.hli.ht the i.portance of an early di.gnosi. of cardi.c li.ht chai. amyloi.osi.. Case Presentati.n: We report the case of an 88-year-old hypertensi.e female pati.nt wi.h sustai.ed atri.l fi.ri.lati.n and recurrent heart fai.ure, i. whom echocardi.graphy showed concentri. left ventri.le hypertrophy wi.h mi.dly reduced left ventri.le ejecti.n fracti.n (LVEF) to 45%. Bone sci.ti.raphy was normal. Serum analysi. showed i.creased lambda free li.ht chai.s. Accessory sali.ary gland bi.psy revealed weak Kappa li.ht chai. stai.i.g and clear overexpressi.n of lambda li.ht chai. deposi.s. The di.gnosi. of stage 3B cardi.c amyloi.osi. secondary to lambda li.ht chai. myeloma was made. After a multi.i.ci.li.ary meeti.g, i. was deci.ed to start treatment wi.h DARATUMUMAB + LENALi.OMi.E. Pati.nt’s general condi.i.n deteri.rated wi.h the occurrence of febri.e pancytopeni.. Chemotherapy was stopped and management was li.i.ed to comfort care unti. the pati.nt’s death. Conclusi.n: Cardi.c li.ht-chai. amyloi.osi. must be di.gnosed early as i. can be rapi.ly fatal.

i.troducti.n: Hypertrophi. cardi.myopathy (HCM) belongs to the very heterogeneous group of cardi.myopathi.s. Thi. study ai.ed to study myocardi.l perfusi.n abnormali.i.s on sci.ti.raphy and assess the ri.k of sudden death from ventri.ular arrhythmi. i. heredi.ary sarcomeri. HCM. Pati.nts and Methods: Thi. i. a retrospecti.e and prospecti.e descri.ti.e study over 18 months (January 01, 2021, to July 31, 2022) on the records of pati.nts over 18 wi.h the di.gnosi. of hypertrophi. sarcomeri. cardi.myopathy wi.h or wi.hout ventri.ular rhythm di.orders and who have undergone myocardi.l sci.ti.raphy. Results: Three pati.nts were i.cluded. The average age of our pati.nts was 66 years old. Dyspnea i. the pri.ary symptomatology found i. our pati.nts. One pati.nt presented wi.h syncope and unsustai.ed ventri.ular tachycardi.. Hi. ri.k score for sudden death from ESC at fi.e years i. esti.ated at 6.45%, and the pati.nt recei.ed an i.D i. pri.ary preventi.n. The average sudden death ri.k score of our pati.nts was 3.78%. The mean LV wall thi.kness was 20 mm. The mean maxi.um left i.traventri.ular gradi.nt was 39 mmHg. Myocardi.l fi.rosi. was present i. all our pati.nts. Myocardi.l sci.ti.raphy was normal i. all cases. Conclusi.n: Hypertrophi. cardi.myopathy i. a very heterogeneous group of cardi.myopathi.s. The rhythmi. ri.k i. multi.actori.l and consti.utes a si.ni.i.ant prognosti. factor.

Ebstei.’s anomaly i. a rare congeni.al heart di.ease. We report a seri.s of 4 cases of Ebstei.’s anomaly di.covered i. adolescents. The mean age was 13.75 ± 0.96, wi.h 3 boys and one gi.l. Three were i. heart fai.ure. The EKG showed atri.l hypertrophy (1 case), ri.ht bundle branch block (1 case), Wolff-Parki.son-Whi.e (1 case), and atri.l fi.ri.lati.n (1 case). Cardi.megaly was present i. all pati.nts wi.h a mean cardi.thoraci. i.dex of 0.77 ± 0.03. On echocardi.graphy, the mean api.al di.placement of the tri.uspi. septal leaflet was 22.5 ± 3.30 mm/m2, the Celermajer i.dex was Grade 2 i. 2 pati.nts and Grade 4 i. 2 pati.nts. Depleti.e medi.al treatment was prescri.ed to 3 pati.nts. Anti.oagulant therapy was i.i.i.ted i. one pati.nt. Two are awai.i.g surgery. One death was recorded, i. was at Grade 4 of the Celermajer i.dex.

i.troducti.n: Obli.erati.e arteri.l di.ease of the lower li.bs i. a marker of advanced atherosclerosi.. i. i. one of the world’s most common cardi.vascular di.eases, present i. one i. fi.e people over the age of 60, and carri.s an i.creased ri.k of morbi.i.y and mortali.y. The ai. of thi. study was to assess the knowledge of pati.nts and thei. carers about obli.erati.e arteri.pathy of the lower li.bs at Conakry Uni.ersi.y Hospi.al. Materi.l and Methods: We conducted a descri.ti.e cross-secti.nal study lasti.g 3 months, from March 12 to June 12, 2022 i. the hospi.als of the Uni.ersi.y Hospi.al of Conakry (Donka and i.nace Deen). Followi.g free and i.formed consent, they were i.tervi.wed on the basi. of a pre-establi.hed questi.nnai.e. Soci.-demographi. data (age, gender, level of educati.n) were collected, and knowledge of obli.erati.e arteri.l di.ease of the lower li.bs. Results: The study i.volved 159 people, compri.i.g 106 pati.nts (66.66%) and 53 accompanyi.g persons (33.34%) i. the hospi.als of the Uni.ersi.y Hospi.al of Conakry (Donka and i.nace Deen). The 60 to 79 age group was the most represented (44.7%), wi.h an average age of 55.4 ± 15.9 years and extremes of 20 to 84 years. Half (47.8%) had not attended school, and almost all (96.4%) of those who had attended school had a low level of educati.n (pri.ary and secondary). Almost all of them (91.2%) had never heard of AOMi. Only 5% i.enti.i.d at least one ri.k factor, di.betes, hypertensi.n and smoki.g. Amputati.n was the most frequently i.enti.i.d compli.ati.n. About 98% di. not know that AOMi.i. associ.ted wi.h myocardi.l i.farcti.n and stroke, and 93.7% di. not know of any compli.ati.ns. Almost all the parti.i.ants (99.4%) had poor knowledge of the followi.g compli.ati.ns. Conclusi.n: Obli.erati.e arteri.l di.ease of the lower li.bs could be prevented or delayed by screeni.g and controlli.g ri.k factors. i.troducti.n: Soli.ary exostoses are the most common beni.n tumors of the ferti.e metaphyses of the long bones of chi.dren. Thei. radi.logi.al di.gnosi. of metaphyseal bone growth must be confi.med on pathologi.al exami.ati.n. These tumors can remai. asymptomati. for a long ti.e and reveal themselves duri.g a parti.ularly vascular compli.ati.n. The objecti.e of thi. study was to descri.e the epi.emi.logi.al, di.gnosti., therapeuti. and evoluti.nary aspects of these tumors. Pati.nt and Observati.n: We report the case of a 15-year-old adolescent gi.l, wi.h no parti.ular pathologi.al hi.tory, recei.ed i. the pedi.tri. surgery department of the Donka Nati.nal Hospi.al (HND) of the Conakry Uni.ersi.y Hospi.al for recurrent acute pai.ful swelli.g of the lower thi.d of the left thi.h i. an afebri.e context accompani.d by lameness and stoppi.g school for a few days (2 - 3 days). The symptoms appear to have evolved over the past 3 years and after physi.al acti.i.i.s. i. regresses wi.h rest, analgesi.s and non-steroi.al anti.i.flammatory drugs. The noti.n of trauma and si.kle cell di.ease was not reported i. the pati.nt's cli.i.al hi.tory. i. i. the persi.tence of the symptomatology whi.h moti.ates the sai. consultati.n. On palpati.n, a small hard mass i. noted at the expense of the i.ternal metaphysi. of the left di.tal femur. Deep palpati.n of thi. area causes a ti.gli.g sensati.n and duri.g rapi. mobi.i.ati.n of the knee. The remai.der of the orthopedi. exami.ati.n was unremarkable. Standard x-ray of the femur shows a bony growth wi.h a poi.ted ti. from the di.tal metaphysi. of the left femur. On surgi.al explorati.n, we noted a wedge-shaped exostosi. ori.nted towards the vastus medi.li. muscle. Hi.tologi.al exami.ati.n of the surgi.al speci.en confi.ms osteogeni. exostosi.. Cowpea [Vi.na ungui.ulata (L.)] i. one of the most i.portant ari. legumes culti.ated for pulse and forage producti.n. Drought i. one of the most damageable constrai.ts to crop producti.n i.pacti.g negati.ely food securi.y. The potenti.l of cowpea to address food securi.y i. well establi.hed. However, not much i. known about the base i.dex selecti.n method i. breedi.g cowpea for drought tolerance, whi.h i. i.portant for yi.lds. Consequently, the present study has been conducted to: 1) evaluate the yi.ld performance of cowpea genotypes under arti.i.i.l drought and well-watered condi.i.n, 2) ranke genotype performance usi.g selecti.n i.di.es, and 3) assess relati.nshi. between agronomi. trai.s and yi.ld. The experi.ent was the 2 wateri.g condi.i.ns lai. out i. a Randomi.ed Complete Block Desi.n (RCBD) wi.h three repli.ati.ns. The experi.ent was carri.d out i. pots under screen house at the Department of Horti.ulture at KNUST. The result showed that KPR1-96-73, Si.bo, CZ06-4-16, Wi.i.aly and Agyenkwa were hi.h yi.ldi.g i. well-water condi.i.n whi.e Ghana Shoba, Sangaraka, Nketewade, Ghana Shoni.and Korobalen were hi.h yi.ldi.g genotypes i. water stress condi.i.n. The average yi.ld reducti.n was 60.6% and 16% for grai. and fodder yi.ld respecti.ely. The bi.lot di.plays revealed four groups among the genotypes tested whi.h were based on thei. yi.ldi.g capaci.y and drought tolerance. i. cluster B hi.h yi.ldi.g and drought tolerant genotypes were i.enti.i.d, hi.h yi.ldi.g and drought suscepti.le have been i.enti.i.d i. cluster A, low yi.ldi.g and drought tolerant i. cluster D, and lastly low yi.ldi.g and drought suscepti.le i. cluster C. Background: Ovari.n cancer i. the seventh most common cancer i. women i. the world and i. the leadi.g cause of death among gynecologi.al cancers. Objecti.e: The objecti.e of thi. study was to descri.e the cli.i.al, therapeuti. and prognosti. aspects of ovari.n cancer i. the both Gynecology-Obstetri.s departments Donka and i.nace Deen of the Conakry Uni.ersi.y Hospi.al. Methods: Thi. was a retrospecti.e, descri.ti.e study lasti.g 12 years from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2022, coveri.g the fi.es of pati.nts treated for ovari.n cancer i. the both Gynecology-Obstetri.s departments Donka and i.nace Deen. The study focused on the epi.emi.logi.al, cli.i.al, hi.tologi.al and therapeuti. aspects of the di.ease. Results: i. total, 135 fi.es of pati.nts wi.h ovari.n cancer were collected out of the 3821 fi.es of gynecologi.al pathologi.s recorded i. the two departments duri.g the study peri.d, ei.her a frequency of 3.5%. Among gynecologi.al and breast cancers, ovari.n cancer represented 9.1%. The average age of the pati.nts was 46.3± 17.8 years and the average pari.y was 4 ± 3. The reveali.g cli.i.al si.ns were domi.ated by pelvi. pai. (92.6%) and i.creased abdomi.al volume (53.3%). The di.gnosi. of the di.ease was made mai.ly at stages i.i.and i. (71.9%). The most common hi.tologi.al type was serous papi.lary adenocarci.oma (57.0%). Exclusi.e surgi.al treatment was performed i. 8.1% of pati.nts, surgery combi.ed wi.h chemotherapy i. 63.0% of pati.nts and exclusi.e chemotherapy i. 11.1% of pati.nts. After an average follow-up of 42 months, 29 pati.nts out of the 96 operated on were ali.e (30.2%), 51 had di.d (53.1%) and 16 pati.nts were lost to follow-up (16.7%). Conclusi.n: Ovari.n cancer i. the thi.d most common cancer i. both departments. Di.gnosi. i. often late and the prognosi. i. poor.

Di.ect photochemi.al degradati.ns of progesterone (PR) and testosterone (TR), two naturally produced hormones, have been conducted i. non-buffered aqueous soluti.n (pH rangi.g between 5.5 and 6.0). The i.radi.ti.n experi.ents were carri.d out i. a batch reactor upon monochromati. (254 nm) and polychromati. (λ > 290 nm) at 25°C. GLC/MS and LC/UV-DAD/MS analyses were performed to i.vesti.ate phototransformati.n products after a soli. phase extracti.n (SPE) step for analytes concentrati.n. For each compound several by-products have been i.enti.i.d and are the same ones under both i.radi.ti.n condi.i.ns. Because of the presence of the same chromophore (α, β-unsaturated group) absorbi.g UV radi.ti.ns i. both hormones, the majori.y of chromatographi. peaks correspond to by-products formed accordi.g to i.enti.al mechani.ms i.volvi.g i.omeri.ati.n, enoli.ati.n, oxi.ati.n and hydrati.n to lead to the generati.n of lumi.etone, cyclopentenone, spi.o-hydrati.n, oxi.ati.n and hydroxylati.n photoproducts.

Peanut shells from Burki.a Faso were characteri.ed usi.g mi.eralogi.al, mi.rostructural and chemi.al methods to perform i.s possi.i.i.y to be used as rei.force i. adobe bri.ks. i. consi.ts of cellulose (48 wt%), hemi.ellulose (3 wt%) and li.ni. (28 wt%). The peanut shells were characteri.ed by hi.h porosi.y and showed water absorpti.n around 198% at 72 hours. i.s chemi.al composi.i.n i. essenti.lly composed of si.i.a, i.on oxi.es, alumi.a and calci.m oxi.e. i.s mi.rostructure showed that the peanut shells were a compi.ati.n of mi.rofi.ers wi.h hi.h porous of borders. i. watery soluti.n, the peanut shells released polyphenols. Thermal conducti.i.y of peanut at 25 °C was 0.155 ± 0.021 W/mK. The physico-chemical characteristics of peanut shells were similar to those found with agricultural by-products used in adobe reinforce.
