Besides the mainstay of α-blockers and 5α-reductase inhibitors,other forms of medical therapy complete the armamentarium in the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms(LUTS)in *** treatments can target specific symptoms as well as associated symptoms that would affect the quality of life of the *** patients are bothered by storage symptoms,more so than the voiding *** are efficacious and safe,provided the patients do not have high post void residual *** patients with LUTS also have erectile dysfunction,and phosphodiesterase type Ⅴ inhibitors are effective in relieving both LUTS as well as erectile dysfunction for such *** provides a popular and safe treatment for LUTS,however,the efficacy of the treatment has not been proven in well conducted prospective randomized controlled studies.

Following the contemporary research trend of exploring the potential of eco-friendly natural fibres,this work studies the effects of alkali and silane treatments,with varying concentrations,on the mechanical characterization of composites reinforced with kenaf and pineapple leaf fibre(PALF).Kenaf-and PALF-based composites were fabricated through the heat compression *** mechanical characterization was then performed to evaluate the tensile,flexural and impact *** findings concluded that chemical treatments indeed enhanced the mechanical properties of composite materials.5%NaOH and 3%silane treatments can respectively provide the optimum mechanical properties to the kenaf fibre and PALF reinforced *** treatment results evidenced that silane-treated composites exhibit higher mechanical properties compared to the NaOH-treated *** comparing the mechanical properties of kenaf-and PALF-reinforced polypropylene composites,the overall results show that composites based on PALF have superior mechanical properties.

We present a multi-phase image segmentation method based on the histogram of the Gabor feature space,which consists of a set of Gabor-filter responses with various orientations,scales and *** model replaces the error function term in the original fuzzy region competition model with squared 2-Wasserstein distance function,which is a metric to measure the distance of two *** energy functional is minimized by alternative minimization method and the existence of closed-form solutions is guaranteed when the exponent of the fuzzy membership term being 1 or *** test our model on both simple synthetic texture images and complex natural images with two or more *** results are shown and compared to other recent results.

Effects of hedgerows on sediment erosion in Three Gorges Dam Area, China

The Three Gorges Dam Area refers to the river section from Chongqing to Yichang on the Yangtze River,which has a drainage area of 75,098 km2,and involves 19 cities and *** hedgerows have been used in this area to control soil erosion and to improve hillslope stability in the catchment of this river *** experimental hedgerow plots were established in 1994 in order to study the effects of hedgerows on erosion *** the period of 1994-1997,runoff and soil loss data were collected on these test plots,including the chemical and physical properties of soil and related topographical *** results indicate that:(1) after 4 years of cultivation and crop planting,soil fertility increased dramatically in the hedgerow *** organic matter,total nitrogen,and total phosphorus contents in the hedgerow plots were 5-9 times higher than that in the control *** each of the hedgerow plots,soil structure became more stable,the quantity of granules larger than 0.02 mm increased and those finer than 0.02 mm decreased;(2) All hedgerow plots showed a major effect on reducing soil loss and surface runoff;(3) Overland flow velocity along the upper portion of the hedgerow plots was greatly reduced due to hedgerow resistance,which explains the significant decrease in soil losses in hedgerow plots,despite the fact that the hedgerow plots and the control plots had the same total runoff.

In this paper,we study to use nonlocal bounded variation(NLBV)techniques to decompose an image intensity into the illumination and reflectance *** considering spatial smoothness of the illumination component and nonlocal total variation(NLTV)of the reflectance component in the decomposition framework,an energy functional is *** establish the theoretical results of the space of NLBV functions such as lower semicontinuity,approximation and *** essential properties of NLBV functions are important tools to show the existence of solution of the proposed energy *** results on both grey-level and color images are shown to illustrate the usefulness of the nonlocal total variation image decomposition model,and demonstrate the performance of the proposed method is better than the other testing methods.

In this paper,we propose a multiphase fuzzy region competition model for texture image *** the functional,each region is represented by a fuzzy membership function and a probability density function that is estimated by a nonparametric kernel density *** overall algorithm is very efficient as both the fuzzy membership function and the probability density function can be implemented *** apply the proposed method to synthetic and natural texture images,and synthetic aperture radar *** experimental results have shown that the proposed method is competitive with the other state-of-the-art segmentation methods.

An iterative method was developed for incorporating the well bore boundary into the finite difference model of water flow in variably saturated porous media. Six cases were presented involving groundwater pumping or injection to demonstrate the advantages of the iterative method over the traditional method. For the iterative method, the total flux gradually approached the well discharge and the flux profile was non-uniform. And the iterative method took into account the variation of well bore water table. Compared to the traditional method, the iterative method can simulate the variably saturated flow caused by pumping or injection more realistically.

In this paper,we introduce a novel hybrid variational model which generalizes the classical total variation method and the wavelet shrinkage *** alternating minimization direction algorithm is then *** also prove that it converges strongly to the minimizer of the proposed hybrid ***,some numerical examples illustrate clearly that the new model outperforms the standard total variation method and wavelet shrinkage method as it recovers better image details and avoids the Gibbs oscillations.
